Hello, I used to shoot with my FN C1A1 rifle at the range. One day in 2004, they change the classification of this type of weapon from restricted to prohibited. That means I can keep as part of my gun collection, but cannot go anymore to the range. I cannot bring anymore at the range to shoot, but only to keep at home as piece of collection.:banghead::bitch:

We need to enjoy these while we can. I have an early CF one and a private purchase one done up by CAL in C2 style, with a heavy barrel and bipod. Apparently, back in the good old days (pre Turdeau sr and jr) one could actually special order these sorts of things. With the talk now, I am sure the first orders in Council will be to outright ban all current prohib semi auto and converted autos. If that happens and the JBST's come to take my FN's and Bren and such, I will strip the parts and just give them the receiver. They are fabulous rifles--heavy and probably a pain to hump through the jungle or what-have-you, but very reliable.

I don't know about a pain to hump through the jungle...I did it for and it wasn't an issue but I was 22 at the time. Once we get older it seems to matter. Remember, soldiering is a young man's game... I carried an FN for the first 15 years...

To be fair, I only hump my L1 from the back of the Land rover to the firing point, it's a tiring 5 or 6 yard hike!

And then I shoot from a bench, arthritis makes prone shooting far to painful these days....

Oh, the joys middle age guys....

Without getting political, that sounds like grim news....

"...have to love politicians..." It's worse than that. Chretien(one of PET's bum boys who was PM '93 to 2003) ordered all those remaining C1A1's, C2's and Sterling SMG's destroyed when the CF went to the Varmint rifle. All the remaining No. 4 and No. 7 Lee-Enfields held by Army Cadet Corps' were chopped too. Supposedly all the Inglis BHPs left will get chopped too. That means mine will skyrocket in value though.
The shop I worked in long ago had the documented, very, last C1A1 come through. Never fired and mint. Still don't know how it got released.

Cadets still have the C No. 7 rifle. However they have been deactivated and are only used for drill

Not sure if Cadets used the No. 4....
