Hi mrclark303 pretty sure it’s a No1 butt And it has the correct number 1 buttplate. It’s a “S” marked short butt. My pictures don’t show it well but it looks like there was originally typical Lithgow markings on the side that were sanded off. I can distinctly see 194(2or3) but the rest are pretty much gone and too faint to identify.
Need better photos if you can.
Is the nosecap numbered and mismatched of is it unnumbered?
Hi Homer. The nose cap is numbered but not matching. There are Australian proofs on the sight protector ears. I’ve included some more links to photos. Let me know what other pictures might help you. Thanks.

No expert here but this rifle has the signs it’s been built up.
Thanks for the reply, Homer. You have helped to confirm my suspicions. I’m honestly not too bothered by it either way as the barrel is in great shape so I will add it to the shooter pile. Prices for full wood enfields, original or rebuilt, seem to have skyrocketed in here in Canada lately, so I don’t feel bad about my purchase. The headspace is good and I will double check the lug contact. Appreciate the reply’s.
