We're overrun with wild hogs here. The weapon of choice is the AR10 platform in 7.62.
That round fence they hang from a pole that drops on the lot of 'em is what you need. Then cap them up close. Get all'em!!!!
My sister back in Ontario was mentioning wild pigs somewhere there. Hope some smart b@stard didn't import them as a meat source and they escaped...what a disaster that would be...Quote:

I’m still on my trip back home, after the exhibition in Las Vegas and two wonderful days with BobQ at the hut, in Texas.
Great host and a great expert in guns, ammo and WWII history.
We spent two nights stalking pigs (and meeting mostly wonderful deer), and the days napping and talking.
It was my first experience at hunting, and we had to hike a lot before we found our herd. Just like I desired: earn the shot.
I used an AR15 in .30 Remington AR with thermal scope (total news for me).
Got my pig from 110 yards at the first shot.
Poor Bob was boiling beside me, ‘cause he could see much better than me with a normal optic and would have been able to shoot much earlier than I was. But, in the end, mission accomplished.

I love that stuff along with some cheese, crackers and chillie stuffed olives in olive oil yummo.
I dropped a 450Kg steer for my friend the other day using my APRS 308 with 168gn A max a 100 yd shot, he was a bit flighty so could get no closer shooting position was crappy but he was nearly ready to take off and we did not want to spook him as having them run all over the place toughens the meat.
Plus he was rather wooly haired head & body and luckily he held his gaze on this thing squating by the fence for just long enough to get the pill into his brain we then went straight up and opened up his throat to start bleeding him out, my mate said he dressed out at @290-300kg of boned meat.
It was roughing it ! There are two A/C units , a flat screen TV DVD , microwave , smoker , toaster , indoor toilet , cold drinks . He did a good shot as I said to shoot them in the head . Not bad for a 110 yd shot in the dark with a strange rifle . The thermal scope takes some getting used to , it is different . You ae looking at glowing ghost images and you lose depth perception .
Unlike other states, Virginia won't publish where the problems are. Saw this a few years back, and have been meaning hike up into a few of the wildlife management areas for a few nights and take a look - set up what one of the pros in Texas said is a favorite magnet-treat, feeder corn fermented for a few days in koolaid.
