I recall those barrels and forends being sold by Numrich Arms some years ago. I bought a set. IIRC, I paid more than you did.
If you really wanted to use a handguard, a sleeve could be made so the collar would fit.
I had considered building a rifle such as yours a few years ago and the folks at Pac Nor were more than willing to turn a barrel to any profile I needed. If I recall they said that they could even thread it to fit a No4 action. I would then have to cut, crown the muzzle, finish ream the chamber and have the extractor slot cut.
By the time I had sourced the parts a complete rifle had come available for sale and I shelved the project.
Thanks all for your suggestions!
I wondered if the barrel and hanguard were a part of a set that someone sold at one time.
I found an original set of rings that arrived yesterday and I am picking up the donor rifle on Saturday.
I will check with Pac Nor about having them turn a barrel since I haven't had any luck finding a suitable one as of yet.
Ron and Alan have been very helpful with this project and I am having a blast tracking down all of the parts.
Thanks again to everyone,
Brian
Any quesses on what an original Enforcer safety is worth. Also any update on EFD's reproduction safety?
Why is an Enforcer safety any different than a normal No4 safety? Am I missing something....., on the basis that an Enforcer is a commercial and not Milspec rifle.
The Enforcer has a shorter safety lever that allows it to clear the PH5E sight base.

My Enforcer Clone (top Picture) with the standard No4 Safety - it wasnt till I actually got out to try it that I realised the safety wouldnt move.
Bottom picture - with the correct 'short' safety which EFD found for me in his 'bits & pieces'
