I did buy a couple.......I just forgot to tell her they were for her.

Top one's nice, looks like it might be pretty early, grooved handguard clip and forged trigger guard.

That's the GHS. But I got the 5,82X,XXX a couple days before.

I had an LL GHS, SA 328219 for years. Finally sold it some time ago to a younger collector here. Good thing too, they're now prohibited here.

I'm wondering about the darker color on the heel of the receiver. It doesn't look normal. Is this whats called annealing or my imagination?

That was called lead pot annealing and you can find discussions about it here in forum. It's not abnormal within certain serial number ranges. Nice color to yours.

I was reading the thread on the Winchester LL and they were talking about that. It made me think about the darker heel on mine. Someone on another site said they saw no sign of annealing, so I didn't know. Thanks Jim

That's exactly what that is. How could they see no sign... They held them in the molten lead until the lead wouldn't stick. That was the annealing.
