I figured it was an overrun for somebody. I'm glad I am a beneficiary of ammo production used to win the cold war. Just wish I could get more of it!!
John, correcto-mundo! And I suspect that the SA ball that was surplused out with dates in the late 70s and 80 was over runs for the Rhodesian conflict. The K-cars (helicopter gunships) had .303 Browning aircraft MGs on them for the rate of fire. Rhodesia got its supply from SA. SA stopped supplying Rhodesia to force them to the bargaining table. One result - overstock on .303 ball.Quote:
