That was my first guess also based upon the shape of the stock. My guess is it would be a later M1916 since it has the flat adjustable rear sight instead if the roller-coaster rear sight.

I have a bubba'd 1916 that has a cross bolt in the wrist. It has another one in the normal position also however. The front sight is not standard for a 1916 but that could have been changed.
