I should add for take-down: No4Mk1(T) rifles are becoming so valuable that many of us can’t justify shooting them. For that reason alone clone-sniper’s have become very popular as well as the fact that a lot of young collectors just starting out just can’t afford to own one. You have a nice looking rifle that you can take out and enjoy. I may consider trying to find one like it for myself someday.

The one RSAF converted “T” I have personally observed and the few I’ve seen photos of all used the same font as the later ones did.
Just to add to this observation, I have an original configeration, non upgraded Trials rifle that was converted to sniper by Enfield. The rifle has a correct font "T", not a block "T", stamped on the underside of the barrel in front of the receiver. This stamp was an Enfield inspectors final approval stamp for a scoped fitted sniper and was also used at H&H by the Enfield inspectors, Ray.

One of the advanced Enfield collectors actually has the first No4MkI Savage made rifle, which had been converted to a "T" and it also has the US Property marks on it. There was a picture essay of it on the old Jouster board.
I have a 14C block Savage "T" less scope rifle. Has the S51 stamp, and a 1945 dated Enfield barrel, so it is one of the late war rebarrels.
Have a 0C59-- here that is US PROPERTY marked.
0C1 is known to exist as No4(T).
OC 303 is a scopeless T. I had the bad idea of negotiating to buy it from a soldier in Petawawa, but didn't get it. Kick myself for that every time I think back over my Top 10 Stupid Gun Things I Done.

I think the pads are original to the rifle, how it got the wood changed thats part of the unknown history. I have another '42 Savage receiver with pads that came with damaged wood but looked unissued inside and out. So I say never say never.

The No53 telescope sight tube is 1.020" diameter so whoever mounted it into the bracket either machined the tube down or opened the mount cradles in the bracket UP. Destroying it in the process. Shame about that!
Don't forget Bubba! I've seen more than one 26mm dia. scope MASHED into 1" scope rings! Never mind the results of said abuse.
