New member based in Reno, Nevada, am British (they let anyone in the US these days), interested in Lee Enfields (mainly because of my interest in WWII), one day would like to be the proud owner of a Lee Enfield No4 Mk1 or 1* in as close to WWII specification/condition as possible, fine if it is FTR (i.e. not buggered up for sport sporting) , so I need as much help as I can get!
This is an excellent forum, and I have enjoyed the expertise of the contibutors, now all I need is a simplified buying guide and a range of acceptable prices....my quest begins....

Hello everyone.
As my name implies, I like Buntlines. They are fun to shoot and get me a little closer to the target. I also like old military guns. I have a 1873 trapdoor, 30/40 Krag, Garand M1, 30 carbine, 1928 Spanish Mauser, and Model#1 MKIII Enfield.
I also have several lever action rifles.
I recently bought a hot bluing outfit and enjoy refinishing older guns that need a facelift.
I'm here because I got a lot of valuable info on why my Enfield was keyholing.
Problem solved. Thanks to all.

I was originally a member of Jouster but I haven't visited them in a while. I had to re-register to get access. I love the format, it makes it much easier to follow and post. So hello again! My milsurp passions are varied, from Trapdoors to M16s, along with Turk and Yugo Mausers.
This is my first post here. I have been lurking around for awhile and have found that the knowledge base on this forum is outstanding.
I guess I grew quite fond of the M-1 when I bought my first one back in the early 90's. I never grow tired of learning new things about the M-1.

I inherited my late fathers Winchester P14 a couple of years ago, and a PERISCPIC PRISM SCOPE. The mount on the scope is stamped 01610, this number is also on the leather case. My fathers wish, was to have the mount made for the rifle, and to use the scope on his P14. So I'm off to see the gunmaker at the Royal Armouries Museum Leeds UK.

Interested in Lee-Enfields No 4 Mk 1. For a military rifle they light and efficient.
I have heard of loading them with round balls and a light load for indoor shooting practice.

I got into milsurps a few years ago because I love the history associated with old firearms, plus a patriotic love for our country and the tangible items from our past.
I now have 3 M1's from CMP (1 SA and 2 HRA's), a Remington 1903-A3, Inland M1 Carbine, and 2 Mossberg M44 US .22's. Oh, and a 1891 Argentine Mauser I inherited. I am into reloading, and love shooting all my milsurps.

I've been around firearms all my 60-plus years. I own a few firearms of all types, and amongh them is a military surplus rifle. I'm the proud owner of an Eddystone-manufacture Model 1917 .30-06 Enfield that was one of the several surplus rifles that my dad acquired over his years. We never had over one of anything, so that kept Dad from being a collector of a certain type, but his war surplus firearms included a Springfield .45-70 Trapdoor, a Remington-Lee Model 1892 .45-70 bolt action, an Enfield Mark 4 .303, a Carcano 6.5 mm rifle (the rifle version of the carbine that allegedly killed President Kennedy in 1963) and the previously-mentioned Enfield Model 1917. My brother inherited every one of these but the Model 1917, but there's no bad feelings, because I inherited Dad's Model 1911 .45 Auto (also surplus) and a few other rifles that he'd managed to hold onto over the years.
My Enfield does kinda leave a "bad taste" in my mouth, because of the way in which Dad acquired it: when I was about 11 or 12, Dad came home a little later than usual from work with a long something-or-other wrapped in brown paper and tied up with string. It was the Mdel 1917 that I now own. That's the good news - the bad news is that when Mom asked him HOW MUCH OF OUR MONEY DID YOU SPEND ON IT? Dad replied something to the effect of, "it didn't cost a penny - I made an even swap with a gun that needed repair." That "gun that needed repair" was his First Generation Colt SAA .45 Cal with a 5 1/2 inch barrel. It had issues with the full-cock notch in the hammer, causing it to develop a "hair trigger." As much as I love the Enfield, there isn't a firearm out there that I love more than the Colt SAA! I'd be the owner of that fine revolver and if nothing else, I'd have something worth a couple thousand dollars instead of a couple hundred dollars! That's life.

Hello I have a No4 MK 1* 1942 I am trying to find a scope mount for this rifle. The gun has no value it was reblued and cut up by the last owner I found the gun in my dads shed covered in rust and left in a bucket and in pieces. So I am just trying to fix and use for hunting and targets. Can any one help?

I just finished cleaning the bolts on my 2 K98's, and it was a snap!
Now, where did I put that 7.7 Jap, the .303 Enfield, the 6.5 Swede, the M1 Garand . . .

Also had an art teacher that used to bring civil and rev. war arms for display to school to enlighten the children to their heritage. He was a very knowledgeble fellow. Used to carry .22 open to school on the bus for rifle team practice . Gun crank and custodian of many types of artifacts since. Presently living in fear of the bilderberg group , the new world order, emperor obama and those 800 FEMA camps with the big gas tanks and lines. I've grew up around guns all my life - I remembered the first time my father bought his Marlin 60 for squirrels. I would tag along w/ him in the woods and knew that I wanted to learn everything - that was almost 20 years ago.
I like guns: old, new, one of a kind, mass produced, toy, everything gun related. Heck, I even bought a shotgun butane lighter the other day just because it looks like a miniture version of my Remington 870.:madsmile:
I've always wanted my collection to include a 1911, a M1 Garand, a M1 Carbine, a .38 or .357 revolver (similar to the Victory models) and a plain jane AR15 (M16 clone). My goal is to collect all the guns that my grandfather used during the Secret War in Laos.I've finally completed my mini collection with the recent purchase of an M1 Underwood Carbine.
I'm proud, and at times embarrassed, because I'm known as "THE GUY WITH ALL THE TOYS." Eventhough I'm only 25, when someone I know needs a gun or has a question about guns, they seek me out. I may not know the answers, but I always find it. And I plan to gain a lot of knowledge here too.

Hello fellow military surplus nuts :madsmile: I'm a U.S. Army veteran and have always loved military rifles. I am currently working on a new project. It is a Winchester M1200 that will become a trench gun. I'm also working on an M16A1 clone (retro) AR to build for my ten year old son. Of course I have an M1 Garand! It's an H&R service grade purchased through the CMP south store.

New here. Love to shoot old military rifles. Military Silhouette and Service Rifle matches are my current favorites for competition. For me it has been when you had the eyes you did not have the time to shoot and now with time to shoot I don't have young eyes anymore. The fun is figuring out how to do it without altering anything.

I am a new member and hope several of you could contact me with help on information on the Japanese paratrooper rifle and also the paratrooper bayonet/utility knife . Production, survival rate, avialablity, price range ect. I am from Ireland, County Tipperary, to be exact.
I have been shooting for a good few years. Mainly hunting rabbits, foxes and other vermin and pheasants and duck in season.
I am a member of a rifle range and have recently bought a .303 British, Long Branch, Lee Enfield, No. 4, Mk 1, built in 1941.
Classic rifle shooting here in Ireland is just getting popular due to us not having access to this kind of rifle because our firearms laws are/were somewhat restrictive.
