Hello all,
Newly retired US Military Sniper. 21 years as a gun nut with all the guns I could ever want until this month. In retirement working on my collection. It feels good to exercise the freedoms that I once worked so hard to protect. And loving every minute of it.
PS: got to work with your Canadian Special Forces and made a life long friend good people. Well I played hockey as a kid in the states and all my friends where transplants so I guess I always knew that I liked the culture.
Thank-you to all you Canadian Solders not enough is said about you all. Thank-you for your service overseas stay safe and "Happy Hunting".

Hello chargerclip - and welcome !
Hello - From Virginia! I have been searching the net for info/advice since my Dad gave me 3 - '03s & I bought an Eddystone M1917 - this seems to be the the place to gain a wealth of knowledge. I am thinking about trying cast bullets in all the rifles (buying not casting). Recently found a place to shoot - 2 hours away but seems to be a good place - shares with 4H & Boy Scouts and you must be an NRA member. Would appreciate any info on shooting cast- best bullets - best places to buy
hey guys. now that i am retired (survivor of 9/11) looking to get back into shooting an possibly reloading and just in general, enjoying some of the stuff i used to do
Hello, everyone. I'm a new member, long-time shooter, but have only a very few military arms: M1, 1903A3, Swiss 1911, (two)Swiss K-31, Broomhandle Mauser, and an old Walther Model 4 that was taken from a German officer in WWII (by my uncle). My favorite shooter, right now is the K-31. The Swiss brass seems too good to throw away, so I have been hydraulically de-priming them and am currently in search of RWS 5620 (or equivalent) primers. I may have found a source through this forum: Clark Vance at Schattenbaum Mechanical in Blue Springs, MO. I'm waiting to hear from him, now. I'll post whatever info I get.
For you K-31 shooters: A Mass. State Police balistics expert tells me that he sizes .284 Winchester brass in a 7.5x55 Swiss die and and fire-forms them in the K-31. He gets great results with lead bullets. Who knew?
I have to say this place has so much distraction for me that I may not ever get anything else done. I have always been fascinated by firearms of all kinds but in a good way. It all started when I made my school's rifle team shooting .22 rounds. (It was a military high school mid 80's)
After that I bought my first rifle, a Mini-14 to shoot at the range. It sucked to put it frankly but it was cheep. For the life of me I couldn't get 10 rounds in the black using hard sights at 100 yds. Later on I added an M1A. It is a standard model and was awesome to shoot but didn't get to shoot it much. (starving college student at the time). The receiver has a weird marking on it but I'll post that in the proper forum. I inherited a bunch of other firearms when my grandfather passed. These were:
Handguns - Berretta 92F Compact (1980's) and a S&W .38 snub-nose dated '51.
Rifles - .50 Cal. black powder rifle made by Thompson Center Arms (scares me), and a Winchester 30-30, 1950's I think.
Shotguns - Winchester Model 12 in 16g. Winchester Model 42 in .410g, an Ithica 16g and a Baker dble-barrell 16g. Mostly used for pheasant I think.
I really know nothing about them other than they were lovingly cared for. I hope to pass them on to my son someday but maybe in here I will be able to put more information to each. How old, etc... That is about it! Sorry if this is too long of a post. Lerenis
