Hello to everyone, new guy here. Like collecting mainly US arms.
Hello, It all started with cowboys and war movies from the 50's . I grew up with these kind of films. Also ,I am mechanical gifted. So, the way firearms are made and how they work ,just fascinated me. Anyway,my mother bought me my first rifle when i was 12 years old. It was in a Phila. pawn shop. A Carcano now hung on my bedroom wall. Anyway, longuns became my game. Next ,i bought a German mauser from a kid down the street for 10 bucks. Then ,i got a mossberg 22 for my barmitzfa ,and the seed was planted. I was drafted into the ARMY IN 1965 and was stationed at Walter Reed in D.C. I purchaed more guns in Vir. at patomeic arms and Sears and mail order. I got crazy & bought a gun shop in 1987 and my collecting was in high gear. I then became an advanced collector. I had a safe full of millitary handguns and wanted every model Mauser ever made. Anyway the rest of the story you can read in my book, I sold the gun shop in 1999 because i got shot through my back in a armed robery in 1998.Now I,m 66 and kind of retired but looking for a job in a local gun shop. That's my story.Thank's for reading. God Bless.
Hello to all, sorry Badger for not checking in sooner. I did not see you had a spell check on the message board till today. I'm a bad speller and typist. This is also my first time for participating on any form of message board. So please everyone let me know if I am doing anything wrong. I am a life member of the NRA and belong to Michigan Antique Collectors and O.G.C.A. My problem, as my wife call my collection, started about 20 years ago with one old beat up Enfield and it just went down hill from there. Before I knew it I had 20 of those dam things, and then it went from bad to worse. The Mausers came next then the Arisakas and U.S. WWII stuff. I thought I could stop after I found my Johnson but nooooo, then the snipers started Oh God help me stop! If there is anyone else out there who wants to start AA type program for this problem please let me know.
My dad gave me my first rifle in 1950. It was an old model 82 cooey 22 and my core training all in the same breath. "You might as well have this" says he and with a stern look, these words,"don't shoot towards town!". Rifle and core training delivered. Even at my tender age I recognized the seriousness of this rite of passage and never let him down.
I used rifles a lot over the ensuing years and finally took up black powder front stuffers and cartridge. Then a couple of years back I ran across a 303 Enfield and tried it out. Love at first shot. I have about 10 of them now in the various models. One day I was wandering around in a gunstore and saw this long, lean, so ugly it was beautiful rifle with a 20 odd inch screwdriver on the end of it. A 91-30 Mosin Nagant which I bought because it reminded me of my Kentucky front stuffer. That was me, fried, stuffed and done to a turn. What a world of intesting Miitary shooters there are out there and what an amazing number of informed guys who love to share their information. You will have to put up with me while I try to catch up with some of you and maybe one day I will even be able to ask some serious questions. I have two of my 303 rifles shooting fairly well at this point but I am spending most of my time with the Mosin Nagant. They all shoot better than me but I can live with that. So that is the who and the why of it all, I'm glad to be here.

Good Day Everyone:
I have been a collector of Lee-Enfield rifles over 20 years. I have a collection of full military Enfield Savage, Longbranch. I find that alot of the British Enfields are harder to find in mint condition. But I keep looking.
NEW MEMBER wants to wish you and yours a very "MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR":wave::wave:
Also I have an M1 Grand with the words : Blue Sky/Arlington Va. on the front of the barrel. Does this inscription have any significance?
Thanks
Tom
I am a new member here, but I have a long time interest in milsurps. How I wish I had some of the guns I traded off long ago when I (temporarily) lost interest in them or wanted to buy something else. These forums are a valuable resource to learn about what you have and decide what else you may want while they are still available at good prices.
