'Ditto' on being careful about loaning it out for the movies.... We loaned out our Navy R4D to film "Fat Man and Little Boy" and the studio painted one side OD green as a C-47 livery and the starboard as a commercial airline livery. They said the 'paint' was wax based and it would wash off... It didn't wash off after we got her back and the R4D looked a mess. We had to negotiate like crazy for months just to get the movie company to help us get the whole plane stripped and repainted.

I see you have a fellow Texan who wants to sell his collection of Spanish made Mescherschmit 109's used on the film here at Duxford "Battle of Britain" in 1968.
We kept one which is here on display but as he was owed some money he took the planes as payment.
I think he got the better half of the deal now
Apologies in going off topic slightly, but the Dak reminded me of similar occurrences on the Bridge to Far film
Ok now my curiosity is peaked, and im sure others too, but maybe this should be a new thread, more on the 109s and texas

And of course when I saw that on the other forum, I had to watch "Battle of Britain" on this site last night when I was in the shop. When the Me 109s came on, I refereed to the stills in the hanger and you see yellow 11 and black 8 both in the air in the movie...neat...Quote:

I thought they were too, but I have been called down.
I only responded to the thread because the topic had noted that loaning out our rare and valuable vehicles to movie companies is often a very bad idea. The movie studios can be very irresponsible with our priceless vehicles when they have them. I was trying to stay on topic and didn't mean to highjack the thread in any way.
Nor I, all relevant I thought. Apologies from me if it seemed that way............bloody mission creep gets everywhere
