Hello all. I am a sort of collector, but more of a shooter. I have an early WW 2 '03 Remington,an early Rem '03a3 and a 1917 Rem with an 11-17 Eddystone barrel. I shoot all three in our winter leagues here in central N.Y. Oh,also a couple Garands and a carbine.
Hi I'm David I'm an exmember of the 8th (County Tyrone) Battalion of the Ulster Defence Regiment, I live in Northern Ireland and I have recently become involved in collecting Military Bolt Action Rifles.
Hello to all and first must say thanks to everyone who keeps this site working, it probably is the best site for serious collectors. I collected many years ago while shooting DCRA in Saskatchewan, sold most of my firearms and did other things. Got back to shooting and collecting about a year ago thanks to my son. Have met some great people including Bearhunter, ROD-ON and Ed who have been a wealth of information and help. Enjoy longer range shooting and have focused on collecting Lee Enfields. Wish my eyes were like they were 50 years ago but that's life I guess.
I more of a gun tinkerer than a collector. I enjoy finding an older Military rifle and cleaning it and ID's/learning its history. This site will be a wealth of information for me. Looking forward to learning here..:)
Hello,
I have been reading the messages for some time but finally decided to start being a more active participant. I collect US military firearms and have been playing with M1 garands for over 20 years.
I look forward to hearing from many of you!

Hi, I am a collector of antique folding knives (primarily Sheffield made) and recently have been focusing on British and Commonwealth military folders from 19th Century to 1945 (approximately). It is a great field of collecting because of the large quantities that were manufactured, but it is also the variety within each pattern that makes it particularly interesting. Ron Flook's book "British and Commonwealth Military Knives" is an invaluable reference book for the serious collector.

I'm a long time member of Gunboards.com, and have been collecting milsurps for a few years now. I like em all, so no real focus on one Country. I do however favor U.S. Military Firearms and goodies. It's nice to have another site to look for that special something I just can't live without.

Hello to all.
Hi Everyone, I've enrolled on the site to try and find out about the SMLE I have just bought. It has BSA & Co on right side of socket, no model ID Mkiii or mk111**, or any military markings ect. It looks like a Mk111, but with some Mk111* fitting, ie Mag cut off, No volley sight. Superb condition. Serial No 59679, no letter prefix or suffix. Some of the guys at the club say it was made for export to either Hong Kong or Bahrain.
I would like to find out more about it, especially date of manufacture ect.
If anyone has any info, I would be most greatful.
Just got my C&R. Lookin to get a few Mosins and a couple of Mausers.
Hi everybody, I just started collecting a couple of years ago. Any advice would be helpful. And, I plan on getting my C&R when I turn 21. April seems like a long way away:runaway:.
Greatiings, I am a brand new member. I reciently purchased an L1A1 rifle, and a set of older web gear for it. I have been looking for 30 round magazines to fit the web gear, and have been told that some of the Bren gun mags will work. Does anyone have any information about which ones will work in the inch pattern rifles?
I have been collecting for the last 15 years mostly civilian stuff but have become interested lately in the early 1903's and newer milspec items. I have found it fairly difficult to identify 1903's is there a book or someone who can give me a clue. I have seen these things offered for values all over the place and not once has one of the owners been able to validate his value. I.e. is the darn thing correct?:sos:
hello im a new member of this site not sure what im suppose to say but i love military items when i look at my smle i think about the courage of the boys becoming men over night i have a big love for military guns as well as every day guns main motovation for joining this site is the info and knowlege on every screen i click on:thup:
Hi, I am new to the site after getting an Ishapore 2A. I have had some other military guns but this is my first 'real' military gun. If it were up to me I would own several military guns but it is cost prohibitive... but in time I will own as many as possible.
New member from FLA here. Just got interested in Garands and am in the middle of an M40-ish project.
A quick note from the golden state! I have been collecting/shooting WWII rifles and pistols for a while, mostly chasing down that special k98 however I do have a few others, U.S., British, Russian and Finnish. Thanks for the welcome! :super:

Hi All,
I'm a new member here and look forward to taking in all the info the membership has to share as well as sharing my own thoughts and information. I got into militaria back in the 1963 at 7 years old when I purchased some pickups (a piece of shrapnel & a couple of minies) for 50 cents from a shop owner in Harpers Ferry. That lit my flame for US military items, especially Civil War. Started dealing with Turner Kirkland of Dixie Gun Works a few years later when I was 11 as well as Jimmy Hogan who had a large stock of Bannerman remnants at his place in Blue Point, NY. Through him I became fixated on anything Bannerman - catalogs, ephemera, relic displays, first person accounts of the business, as well as "the island."
Today I teach US history to eighth graders and share my love of militaria and historical artifacts with them.
I look forward to being a part of this forum.
Regards,
Bob
Hi from Ohio.
Been collecting milsurps since I was old enough to legally buy. All thanks to a couple of grandpa's who collected and passed it on.
Currently after a good M1 Carbine and a S&W Victory Model. In the mean time, I'm loving the resources and videos here.
Howdy, another new member here.
I'm new to the forum and just wanted to say hello. Thanks.
HI all--
I am a newbie here and wanted to say hello! I have been collecting military type rifles for about ten years. I am in forced retirement from a dissabling back injury, so I have plenty of time to roam the internet, just not enough cash to buy all the interesting weapons I desire, LOL. I do have a nice, small collection of shooters and am now downsizing/ consolidating cartridges, focusing on the ever popular 8mm, 308/ 7.62 NATO and 7.62x54r Russian cartridges.
I love to learn and have found I can learn something from everyone, so hope to do the same here!
See 'ya around! LOOSENUTS:D

Hi everyone,
Just signed up...great site!! I live in Abbotsford, B.C and was born an Army Brat. My dad was a Combat Engineer and retired a Capt. He served in Korea in 1952. I have been collecting Militaria for over 40 years, but only got serious about it around 10 years ago when I bought my First Army Jeep...a 1952 US Army M38...sold it and bought a 1942 "script" Willys MB that I still have. I mainly collect 1941-1963 US Army items..uniforms,radio gear, helmets and just about anything Engineer related. I own a Browning HP and 2 Garands (1943 & 1944) a 1944 Winchester M1 Carbine and a NORC M14.
I can be found on canadiangunnutz,g503,us militariaforum and others as 42MB or IA291E.
If this sort of thing interests you too...drop me a line...always looking to make new friends.

Hello, here a post from the Netherlands. Recently bought a Springfield M1903-A3 Remington #3990989. Build from un-issued original WW2 parts, two groove barrel 6/1944, new C-stock, all parts marked "R". It has never been fired. My dealer suggests to shoot reduced loads, Hornady A-Max 150 gr with 27,5 gr of N110 powder. Factory loads are to heavy he says. I will start reloading myself in the near future. Does anyone of you have any experience in .30-'06 loads for this particular rifle? There is very little documentation to get over here.
Hope to learn from you folks.
Welcome to all.
Hello my fellow Shooters
Iam new to the forum but old at the reloading bench 20+ years of revolver, pistol and long guns. Looking forward to exchangeing info and comments:)

Hi everyone,
I just found this site on the net!!?? I am a gun nut and make no apologies for my likings. I have a small collection of military longarms from Custer to Korea. Trapdoors. 03's, 03a3, 1917 Enfields, Garand, M1 Carbine and now German 98K. The 98K was what led me to this site as I was looking for ejector springs and info.
Thanks,
Meganticoutlaw
Just found this site looking for information on bayonets. A fellow membwe of my VFW post asked if I could find out where these came from.
hello everyone, I am retired USN and have been collecting/shooting U.S milsurps. But about ten years ago, I purchased from a neighbor a 1889 schmidt rubin without a bolt. Had no idea what the bolt looks like so I went to the great western americana gun show and was able to buy a bolt assembly. But when I took it home, it was too short and the lug seems to be in the wrong place. I came upon this forum and it seems like a lot of members know about this rifle. I was reading a post/message from a member about the pressures of the the newer ammo and it makes sense now as to what happened to the original bolt. That was a very good article...thanks. Just looking at the pictures on this forum, I think the bolt assy. I purchased from the gun show is a 1911?? It seems the bolt for the k31 is really short compared to the 89...
On another matter, my son figured out that more ammo means more shooting at the range. So he talked me into reloading. Started with handgun ammo and now with the rifles, but I cannot find 30 carbine load data.. I currently have unique, bullseye and imr4198. will any of these powder work?? thanks, ed
I'm a new collector, just starting with the hobby. Interested in all sorts of things, but at the moment building a collection of WWII carbines and arms with unusual mechanisms.

Nice to be aboard!

Hi. I'm a new member, trying to get some info about a rifle I've had for about 20 years. It's an M1A, from Springfield Armory (Genesco, IL) and it's one of the rifles from the "Even Thousand" series of collector's rifles. It's serial number is xx000, has a highly polished, walnut stock, gold trigger, gold flash suppressor, gold inlaid serial number, etc.
Does anyone have any idea as to its value? I'd also like to make contact with an M1A collectors' club, since I suspect they would have folks who would be most interested in purchasing something like this. It's been sitting in my safe, since purchase.
Anyone can E-mail me, about this item, at S1105521037@cs.com, if you like.
Thanks

I have a sampling of U.S military, Enfields, Mosins, Mausers, Swiss and other odds and ends. I really enjoy reading the posts and have learned a lot here. I just wish I had more time to shoot. I'm a 4th grade teacher and have young kids of my own, so life stays busy. Glad to be here.
