Thanks Frank, nice detail pics.
Thanks Frank, can't wait to see it with the scope in place

There were 3 versions of the No.32 scope cap
1st Pattern: plain leather, with a plain connecting strap
2nd Pattern: same as above except they also have a loop added near the objective end of the scope. That way the caps can hang off the scope in use & are in theory more difficult to lose
3rd Pattern: MUST have been the result of several committee meetings & the passing around of each members version of home-made parsnip & cat pee wine!! As nobody in their right mind would design such a thing otherwise. Made with a 4 part connecting strap, which is a nightmare to sew!
Pics of each:

Maybe it's the colour or the camera angle but they don't look quite like the scope caps that were issued when the rifles were current. Our issue ones had the underside of the brass stud covered too I seem to remember. If it wasn't covered then you can be sure as god made little green apples that the soldier would unscrew it!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's the camera flash/angle...& I forgot to glue on the leather disc covering the brass stud before taking the pic!
They're the same colour & thickness, etc. as the off-cut of original WW2 leather you gave me some time ago - but may look a slight "pink" shade as the undyed veg tan looks that way when very new
...I may live in Scotland now but I have what you'd call a "Geordie" accent
