Look at the foretip - there should be a 1/8" S stamped there.
If I understand you, there is an S there. I found 3 markings on the stock , Jay

Those earlier handguards are not easy to find though.

The high-wood stocks are pre 1910. Brophy has the J.F.C. stamp starting in 1905. Question is, was the stock originally a no-bolt stock or a one-bolt. I think there is a possibility of either.
Is there a way to tell if both bolts were added at the same time? Does the staking on the right side of each bolt look the same?
I think this a type 1 stock because of the shape of the comb. So, probably both bolts were added at the same time.
I was the one who traded this stock to him for his "C" stock.
