You're right Newbie....... He was a real ruthless, cunning, bastxxx and a fxxxxxg ogre on the courses but guess what.......... At the end of the 6 week course (they were 6 weeks then) they all, to a man, thought that he was the best instructor that they'd ever worked for and they ALL thought and acted like him - as snipers do. I inherited one of his long, sacking/sackcloth stalking cloaks/cape thinggies. I'll photograph it one day. The other sniper instructor is very ill at the moment and hasn't got long to go
called a ghille suit that was probably personalised, they are a very personal thing of art when done properly, I remember most weekends of the course before the field phase and long nights spent making mine.
Yes the L42 is a bee's dick in front of the No1 Mk5 for me
cheers

Best looking has to be the No6. It has the same, almost offensive appearance as the No5, but with the smooth curved No1 action.
Tough call on this question. I will have to go with a coin toss,,,,

The little Lee-Enfield Carbine or Lee-Metford Carbine. Flat sided bolt handle. No place for a bayonet. Six shot magazine. Very nice in person, much more so than in photos. Especially with a nice scabbard.
Or a Lee-Speed carbine.
And I don't generally gravitate towards carbines.
Yes, I'd go with the Lee Enfield Carbine. Still regret not buying a pristine one many moons ago, for what was then a whopping $350. CAN.
That is for aesthetics only I have have to add, as the flattened knob, bent bolt and 5/6 round mag make the rifle inferior to other LEs for practical purposes.
But then of course, if we're not restricted to military pattern rifles, some of the Lee Speed sporters are truly lovely.
There's just something about the classic blunt nose! Absolutely love these rifles.
