Unusual M1 Garand

I do not have any pictures but I have an early 1970's conversion. It consists of the Garand 8 round clip use and no magazine. If I recall the receiver was not altered at all. It is known as the cheapy version, but it is also very scarce. Most were altered for use with magazines.

The Garand bolt has the roller and from the receiver threads to up front every part is M14. The M14 op rod is modified to act like the Garand op rod on the last round. It has the M14 Barrel and gas system.

I have started on such a project, but have never actually seen one done. Not as easy as it would seem!

Bill , do you have any further information on the comment about how the open bolt feature failed to solve the cookoff problem ? The barrel would have to get white hot , I'd rec'on , to set off a round sill setting in the mag feed lips.
