Apparently creosote can be produced from wood-tar or coal-tar. Check out Wikipedia on this. The wood-tar version has been used in food and medicines, the coal-tar version for wood preservative. " ... the coal-tar variety, having stronger and more toxic properties, has chiefly been used as a preservative for wood". You may wish to wear gloves and a mask if sanding on stocks that may contain creosote. As did we all, used stuff on open skin that would have you running for cover these days.
Sorry to hear about your cancer, it's interesting how some will suffer and others not. It has to be in the genetic makeup.
All about genes, as I'm a bushy, I prefer moleskins, so no cancer haha. We all die of old age, it's just that some ages are greater.
Good for you, hang in there. I spent thirty years with hands in carb cleaners, nitro methane and alcohol (my liver got some too) every weekend. I have a few dry skin areas but I consider myself very lucky not to have worse problem.Quote:
