The Inland may go in "Harm's Way" again.

Ugh, took the AR last night so I could check function, since I had just switched to the M16A1 upper from the slick side I used to have on it. Gave me a chance to check battle sight at 25 yards until I can get to the range.

Good news was it was only one click right off, bad news is I had about 10-12 failures to feed in 60 rounds! Every one was a short stroke, not going back enough to pick up a round from the magazine. I doubt if it is ammo, as the IMI M193 is hot stuff, and I have never had any issues in the last two years shooting it. I also doubt if it was the mags, as they had new USGI springs and Magpul gen II followers.

This morning I checked, and the gas ring gaps were lined up. Also, I had a new in wrap USGI M4 spring I put in it, rather than the spring that came with the knock off CAR-15 stock. Lastly I put in a new gas tube. The last one did not look or feel right when I re-installed it in the weapon when I switched upper.

I'll try it again when I go back Wednesday evening. If I can't get it fixed, I will switch to the Inland Carbine until I get it wrung out. I had more FTFs in the AR-15 yesterday than I have had in the last 10 to 15 years!

That's not good. Weird.

I'm guessing the carbine is your go to gun than. Hehehhehehe

how can you hold on to the ar thats crazy looking.......if you want to carry a military rifle but you dont want a m1 garand because of the weight and size of it but want the size of a m1 carbine but want a stronger punch get a m1 garand tanker model.....or a ar-10

The AR-10 would have to have the same hideous non-pistol grip.

The grip is actually not too bad. MUCH better than a Kydex paddle or Monsterman grip. Feels a lot like an FN PS90 grip.

i realy dosent matter what the grip looks like all that matters is THE FIRE POWER:super:.

If a bad shoulder can't handle a Garand how would it handle an AR-10?

I have heard two things that may apply here:
First, the weapon is the man, not what he carries in his hands.
Second, beware of the man that only has one gun, ‘cause, he knows how to use it.

Besides gas tube and recoil spring, I had three new gas rings, so I swapped the, out too. The bolt seemed too lose in the carrier, looser than my 602 build with its new chrome Young Manufacturing BCG. I should have a chance to function fire this afternoon after I get up to work.

You are going out into the bush, at night, by yourself, with a bad shoulder, to protect a strategic installation against possible Islamic terrorists, and you will certainly encounter mountain lions and 500 pound bears, and you may encounter Mexican drug cartel tending or transporting the crops, and you are trying to decide on whether to carry a 75-year old WWII surplus carbine of very limited ballistic effectiveness and unknown physical history or a little AR-15 CAR with a near-pistol length barrel and a ridiculous little brush and/or gear snagging grip 'hook' on it, that only functions abouit 80% of the time. This does not sound good to me.

It's been 40+ years since I was in a similar position where my life depended on my rifle so I may not be up to speed on what's actually available to you out there. But, if my shoulder couldn't handle an M1A, STG or FAL in .308 then I would probably get a new Mini-14 in 7.62x39 (or 5.56mm) and put a 0-power night vision scope on it, and 1000 rounds through it, before I went where you're going.
