Good work, gentlemen. A mystery no longer.
Picture #1- shows the R stamped heavier to the top, lightly at the bottom.
Picture #2- I highlighted the R in yellow, the original I in blue.
Picture #3- Pictured from a right angle, just showing a light impression of the R's right leg.
Picture #4- Highlighted the outside of the R's bottom leg.
Picture #5- The X stamp commonly found on hammers made by Kal Machine Co.
Housing is complete Type IV Fabricated Rock -Ola with all Rock-Ola internals.
Kal had originally made and marked this I.K. for Inland. With Rock-Ola needing hammers and Kal Machine being their primary hammer supplier, Kal Machine Co then over stamped the I with a R and sent it to Rock-Ola.
Sub Contractor Kal Machine to Rock Ola part.

Charlie, thanks for the photos. Thats pretty good photography work. You brought out more than I could see with a 4x glass.
Bob,
It was tough to get a good picture showing traces of the bottom of the R.
If you look back at Jimf's post #17 (?) his R over stamp looks more like they stamped harder on the right edge.
Your's harder on the top half.
Are you convinced?

Yup, sure am.
