Yes it is, Peter wrote a good article on this pin somewhere. Basicaly, they milled so far forward that they broke through into the spring recess so they simply (I say simply) inserted a pin to become the new base for the spring to sit on.

As a side note regarding the pin ,the 303 (13 coil) barrel nut retainer spring will need shortening as a consequence to 10.5 coils (0.58 inch free length)

How do you guys know all this stuff? Amazing amount of knowledge in this forum!!! I just finished machining the first mag well insert. When I get the second one finished I will post some more progress photos. Hopefully I will get it done before this weekend as I will be out of town.
How do I know this stuff? From my side of the equation, it's called experience C310pilot. Been my bread and butter since starting my apprenticeship as a real Armourer 50 years ago this year - in January 1963 and working on and with them ever since! But more importantly, now passing the info on...........
So here is some more progress. How critical is it to harden the inserts?

I think that if you made them out of TOUGH material in the first place, that will do. The actual INSERTS only support the otherwise virtually unsupported magazine lips and prevent then from being destroyed.
Nice to see you making progress with yours. Mine is boxed and will probably get sold off before too long.
Cheers
Success! A nice tight fitting magazine.
I want to send a very special thank you to Kevin@Bren-Gun.com and Brian Dick for the reference photos. You guys really helped make this process a lot smoother.
I don't know why the video is not working correctly on this site. If you click the "watch on youtube" icon in the lower right it works.
