Hi Simon, That's the only one I've ever attempted three times and failed. They aren't processing anything right now unless urgent or combat related because of the gov't shutdown. At almost $3000 a year for the registration, it's just a bit annoying!

That must be fun, congrats!
Was it intended that the safety be operated with the left hand or the trigger finger? Lousy system either way for a sniper's rifle.
Is that an 11mm rail or a custom profile? (I've read but forgotten.) Looks as though the size of the ejection port might have dictated the size of the rail?
Were it up to me the scope rings would cover the entire length of the scope tube.

It is great fun thanks Surpmil.
Without doubt THE most accurate rifle I own.
The rail is 11mm

The right handed safety was something that AI had to incorporate so as to overcome the IPR governing certain patents on the rights to the L96 which were owned by the MoD. There were several other small but significant changes too, including the AW name and that's why you don't/won't see L96 type rifles sold

I thought you'd notice him sitting at attention.:yikes:
Jokes aside, I'd like to second Capt. Laidler's motion from a previous thread in that we should have a section within milsurps.com dedicated to these rifles.
There are several threads with great pics and useful information scattered throughout this site that could be moved to one spot. Hopefully it might also encourage some of the members that have contacted me via PM to show off their toys and have their questions correctly answered by someone with more knowledge.
