I still have mine. Purchased in 1978 or '79 for $400, new in the box. They were always good rifles.

CDNN has some early A-1 and A-2 LEO only marked carbines for sale. Even have some of my favorite the fixed stock A-1 carbines.
Nice I wish I still had one of these.

Always found mine a fine weapon to shoot and always brings back memories of my time in the service. https://www.milsurps.com/images/impo..._zpsdmcd-1.jpg
My son used his at our Military Shoot yesterday, took a 1st and did remarkably well. I took a horrible 3rd shooting a CZ858.
They are a fantastic gun, very accurate and very reliable for how it is used.
My very first centerfire rifle was a Colt AR15 sporter which I purchased at Ft Knox, KY in Summer 1972 from a local pawn shop new in the box. I fell in love with the M16 while training at Ft. Knox. So before I went home I purchased an AR15 from a pawn shop in Radcliff. At first I was disappointed by not having the forward assist, the full fence guard for the mag release and not a full take down with the front pivot pin. I shot it quite a bit and sold it later due the NJ ban on Assault weapons. Since then I have a number of AR platforms that are NJ legal to shoot and like them all just as well.

We have had the range closed for about 2 months due to the fire hazard as it is beyond dry here, it reopened a couple weeks ago and today was the scheduled military shoot.
My son used his Colt SP1 again and took first in assault rifle, it is a great gun and he has decided to only use it in our military shoots.
I took 2nd in Modern Sub Machine gun, the guy that took 1st was using a CZ Scorpion EVO 3. It is restricted here in Canada and you can use the stock it comes with and it's a very accurate firearm. I know in the US it needs to be registered with the ATF if you want to use it with the stock. Well worth considering if you like this type of firearm.
Great rifle. In Californication, SP1s are a felony, But.... I built a clone on a Nodak Spud lower (not banned), using an Sp1 upper...
