The wood is a little too early for coachwood, it certainly looks walnut. I've got my doubts its original from the HT convertion. Could have been a rebuild from a sporter.
Most of us here have Skennerton's book/s on the Lee Enfield so its really no biggy to ask for a reference check, your rifle is listed on page 321 the mount is an M type date to store was 26/6/1945 which means the war was in its death throes Germany was defeated and Japan was only a few weeks away from getting 2 good doses of Western technology of the day.
So I am in line with it may have been in the process to have a scope fitted but remained scope less due to the progress of the war.
It’s your lucky day,
A Pattern 1918 AOC scope has just come up on ozgunsales
Thank you for pointing that out mate I appreciate it.
Also to the lads mentioning the EBay scope also.
And down the financial rabbit hole I go!
Lobbed bids on line at one scope and just left a voicemail with this gentleman.
Fingers crossed!
Would anyone have any possible idea as to the markings located under the rifle as shown in the pictures that "Musketballs" posted on the previous page of this thread?
the one on ozguns is a low mount.
two scopes coming up for sale right when you get your HT... it's like it was meant to be. :D
Just on the "high mount/Low Mount" are they compatible after chatting with Ian he stated that mine is a high mount?
Pardon the ignorance but been running from my handset the last few days and haven't been able to get to a PC and have a more thorough read up.
FYI the old girl now has a set of eyes thanks to the 3 Gents in here who took the time to give me a heads up as where a scope was available, she's not perfect but she's a genuine high mount and its a start until something better pops.
Any Pictures ?
Bugger pictures. I want nothing short of a full range report. WITH pictures.
Chuffed to bits this seems to have all come together.
