Well.......I really am gob smacked.......no doubt the spec will change next year and you won’t be able to sell, gift or otherwise transfer ownership.
You got it ... Specs are now likely to change (for the worse) with the wind, with little advance warning!
I see D & B Militaria are now advertising Sec5 business among other things, probably best to get away from the "pile em high and chop" deac business now, its too unpredictable these days....
Heads up all,
latest WWA catalogue just dropped though the door today, they now lave a limited number (14) of MK1 barrels (commonwealth I believe) and MK1*'s (24) along with MKII and MKIII's
maybe of interest to some...
Deact barrels are permitted after a reinterpretation of new legislation that confirms that barrels are firearms in their own right - and that you can have deact 'firearms'. End of!
As I understand it, there are still a few (very few.....) old spec Brens around looking for good homes. But I understand that the prices now reflect the 'you should have got one when you had a chance' point of view
Purchased a MK11 barrel as my John Inglis MK1M has a MK11 barrel fitted, asked for a Canadian one, 'JI' marked and got one!
Very similar to the one fitted to gun.
Don't know how it compares to one of the early Deac barrels, not much left of the lugs, and no movement of the gas port...…...at least on mine. still pleased though!:)
Well thanks for the heads up! I showed the add' to herself (who's birthday it is today) and without batting a eyelid she ordered me a Mk 3 barrel! OK I have been whinging about wanting a barrel since I got a Mk 3 and made up a few holdalls for it but still, not what i was expecting!

I ordered a mk1 barrel to go with my ‘39 Enfield Bren, no idea how long it will take to arrive but will be interested to see what it looks like.
According to their website all the mk1’s are gone now...
I suspect it may be a Lithgow Mk1 Barrel. If it is, could you post the Barrel serial number, Gun serial number on the barrel and the date, something like 3’42. I have a list of Lithgow Mk1 barrels that I’m collating. They are scarce items as Lithgow switched to the later pattern barrel bypassing the short cone Mk1*.
Will do sir.....
