Be sure to check the stock, in the barrel channel where the shaft of the lower band spring goes through the stock. Many times, the hole and the spring seem to be drilled and located a little high and it ruptures the wood in the barrel channel. << OR; the action inletting & barrel channel are too low.
Sometimes it is off by so much that pieces of wood are mising and the spring shaft is visible and invades the barrel channel groove. I have seen numerous cases where the bottom of the barrel hits the spring shaft & actually causes a transverse worn spot on the finish of the bottom of the barrel. :banghead:
