Maybe I'm OK with this current barrel

$6 a gallon
I'm not sure what gas is here I haven't gassed up my 2017 Ford Super Duty 6.2L in a year and a half. Rarely drive it, prolly less than 200 miles in the last 2 years... just hauled a few loads near by.
But I need to burn that fuel off, may have to remortgage to fill it up at $6 per gallon, it has a 48 Gal tank...... That'd be $288.00.
I mostly use my 2012 Super Crew 2 wheel drive with the 3.5 L Twin Screws, not sure how big that tank is and really don't drive it much either. It's out there with the Cab corners waiting to be replaced this spring/summer.

Wife just said gas is $4.47 up town.. We usually run around in her Lady Bug a 2017 Ford Edge with nearly 14,000 miles on it. Luckily we don't have to drive far, everything seems to be a short round trip.

This winter I probably burned more gas in the snow blower around the neighborhood than in my 2012. With Covid, seems we just travel to and from Doctor appointments.
I have a stash of about 40 gallons I put together every fall in case we need the generator.

I fear things will get worse. You do know it's Putin's Fault......... right?

I only use mine during snow which is scarce or to go shooting. Range road is very rough...

People are so ignorant about oil and the industry of oil. A few years ago the US was using 6M bbls a day, that's a lot. Now we use 19M a day. After what's his name killed the domestic production in its tracks (On the first day in office), so we were buying 600,000 bbls a day from Putin. So it makes a lot of sense to try and gin up a war with the guy selling you that oil. Right? At least we got rid of Trump.

In the 70s the prediction was that we would be out of oil in 20 years. They even claimed that Taco Bell would go broke because there would be no beans available from lack of fertilizer. So the oil industry went looking world wide and found oil everywhere. The Ukraine and Georgia were the breadbasket and oil well of Russia. The majority of grain was/is grown there and Georgia is where the oil is. The Germans went for both in WW2 . Operation Blue was the German plan to capture the oil fields of Georgia. It required the protection of the exposed flank of the invading army to succeed. The Germans took the Crimea and were positioned to make it all the way into those fields. Hitler's obsession with Stalingrad brought the whole plan down. By spring of '43 the German sixth army had been surrounded, defeated and captured by Russia. 90K Germans went into Russian captivity six weeks later, half of them were dead and the flank of the German invasion was wide open for conquest. The oil, food and strategic metals produced in the Donets were vital to Germany.

Yep, Be kind to him as it's the Russians negotiating on the part of the US with the Iranians on the Nuclear Agreement.... Same Iranians that lofted the missiles at our newly being built embassy the other night.

As a person who was drafted and sent to Vietnam, I will vouch for the peace lovers. It isn't like the movie. Those little snaps you hear right by your ear are not a cricket or someone snapping their fingers, they are bullets just missing your head. This latest unfortunate exercise is a complete sell out to the Arms manufacturers. The people that Eisenhower warned us about when leaving office. Biden goes off and leaves 350,000 M16s for the Taliban, not a problem, they will just make 350,000 more and charge you. And so on right through the hundreds of Billions of dollars worth of everything from socks to $1M armored humvees. Companies making war material have the best government money can buy. Ratheon, McDonald Douglas, Boeing, Lockheed are all just enjoying their new prosperity. They say "Jump" and the People you voted for to make smart decisions say "How High?" Scariest part of all: They don't even try to hide it anymore.

Just curious, how many Vietnam tours did you do in your Military career ?

I was drafted in Aug 1965, went to Ft Ord for basic. Assigned MOS 36C20 Pole Lineman because I was a Lineman for the phone co. If MaBell had an a$$ I would have kissed it. Went to 5th Inf Div in Colorado. Went to Vietnam 5/66 II Corps in Signal Battalion for 1st Cav, 101st and 25th, 5th SF. Put in S4 a housecat job. Ran convoys up and down Hwy 1. Babysat junk to all of II Corps AnKhe,Pleiku, Tuy Hoa I Corps North to Danang Phu Bai, Bong Son, LZ English. Left VN 5/67 to Ft Lewis received 72 day early out, never climbed a pole in the whole 22+ months. Was shot at never hit, never saw any combat. We had 7-8 guys killed during the year, and a Bubonic Plague epidemic in spring 67. The Army sucked.

1st, I'd like to thank you for your service 56 years ago, I'm sure your family and friends were very proud of you for serving.
As far as my service to the greatest Country in the world: I spent 43 years in the Military, I was very proud to serve, it was an honor to me and my family.
Like most vet's I know, I don't go around beating my drum about things I did while in the service, "I don't have a need for it".

Sorry you had a bad time your 22 mo's in the US Army you say that sucks, maybe one day you'll get over it.

Please help put a smile on an old vet's face and tell one more war story, the one above was the best yet. :clap:.

I'm thrilled that you loved the army, happy for you really. I was given a choice: Prison or the Army.

You Know Louis, after 43 great years you probably have a ton of things to talk about. You could have a MOH, one of our cooks in the 5th was awarded the big one in Korea. You probably have a lot of tales from just Army life in general. Like The EM clubs. Which one was your favorite? I never got down to Benning but that has to be a first class EM Club. My brother took a burst of six over in Germany because 4 marks to a dollar made it a paradise. Tell us where you went on your great adventure. Ft Chaffee? Knox? Leonard Wood? Probably Hood for sure. It's a wonderland there in Killeen. My outfit at Carson was moving down to Hood, I was on the excitement plan to get down there, but I came down on that DA Levy and spoiled everything. I probably should have gone on to the Special Forces like they wanted me to, I probably would have felt different about it. Imagine me a Green Beret! After a few years, I'd make Sergeant and could be sitting in the EM Club with you powering down those 50 cent drinks. But heck, it wasn't a "Be All That You Can Be" moment, every one was bailing out. There was a lot of animosity among the soldiers over there. I guess that had to do with the 100-150 kids who were getting killed every week. Heck Louie, they even killed our Command Sgt Maj Laurence Zietlow with a claymore. He was a good man, a great man. But enough of me....I've already said too much to suit you huh? Tell us what a real soldier's life was like. We didn't have bottled water or air conditioned huts or wi-fi. We had water you wouldn't give your dog, tent hooches with rats. Have a couple of cold ones and tell us what a real soldier did.
