I am beginning to like the bleached color, I may just Tru-Oil it initially, to see what it looks like. It certainly looks different, and the odd ball grain pattern really shows up now. It would certainly be an unusual looking rifle. I have got to get a black trap recoil pad!

The logwood does impart a slight reddish brown color to the wood. I found an unopened bottle of Brownells' Logwood stain while looking for my bottles of Tru-Oil (I found six bottles of Tru-Oil???). Tried my logwood stain versus Brownells and mine applies more smoothly, but both give the essentially the same color. The Brownells stuff balls up for some reason, which is irritating. I don't even remember buying it.

I just finished sanding the stock with 360 grit, and applied a coat of Tru-Oil. Looks cool.

I have no idea why I built this rifle, but it sure looks nice. I may blue it tomorrow if the weather is nice. I finish reamed it last night with a tight chamber - very mild resistant on closing the bolt on a factory round (one finger close with a bare bolt). The action is tight, feels like a new one, and I can cock it without opening the bolt (I always liked that feature in an 03). Set the trigger pull at 3(-) lbs with zero creep and near zero backlash. It fits me like a glove. Throw it to my shoulder and I am looking straight down the scope. Balance point is 2" from front tip of floorplate - perfect.

The nice part, not one cent out of my pocket. That tells me I bought too much stuff in the past!
