hello .looking forward to good info
Hello All,
Just got a service grade M1 last week and found this site by researching the rifle. I've had a few milsurps through the years.
First one was a 03 springfield bought back in the early 70's for $40.
Now have a 1873 trapdoor in excellent condition.
A Norinco SKS that's a excellent shooter despite the "BB gun" trigger.
A 91/30 Mosin that with a little grinding on the rear site, the point of aim is now the point of impact.
And even though its not a true Milsurp, I consider my SP-1 Colt close enough.
Regards,
Tony from northwest Florida

Hi,
New guy from BC. First rifle was a P17 '06, first deer was taken with a #4 Mk1, and I've been shooting 6.5x55s for almost 30 years. I have a Remington 7.62x54R, an Ariska, M42B, Brazilian M98 '06, and a few other old timers. I came here looking for more brass options for reloading.
Hi, I am a new member with little collecting experience. I have read a lot of forums and have enjoyed the answers.
My interest in this site began when an old friend who gave me a Mauser 1909 Argentino... I am told it is is very good condition but I dont know much about it yet. It has been rechambered for .30-06... I don't know if that is significant or not. So I'm new at this to say the least. Any input this group can give me would be welcomed... Thx

Hi,New member here. Loss of 9 pistols in 1997 UK handgun ban made me look at other disciplines for shooting pleasure. Discovered shotguns, clayshooting,PSG, lever action Marlins, 10/22`s and Lee Enfields. I now have five Enfields . A 4(T),No.4,No. 5, SMLE and a SMLE sniper. This last came about when I bought an old .22 rifle to recondition and found the dusty old scope to be an Aldis Mk2! This led me to an interest in sniping history and I put together a SMLE sniper with drawings from The Royal Armouries Pattern Room. It is as accurate a replica as can be made and is horrible to shoot with the offset scope. Most uncomfortable! I shoot a lot at Bisley and other ranges. Am a Member of several Clubs and reload for .357 and .303. I shoot more now than I did pre `97
Hello,
I'm from Quebec, Canada and I've been collecting militaria from WWII since 10 years.
I have daggers, medals and some nice guns (Bren MKI, MP-40 and a K98).
See you!
Hi, everyone. I'm just completing my requirements for getting started in this forum. Compared to all of you, I'm sure that I'm a very small collector. My main interest is in WW2 American & German items (K98, M1 Garand, 1903, etc.). I'm looking forward to this forum's shared knowledge & experience.

Hello all. I have been collecting for 30 years. Mostly High Standards and M1 carbines. Just getting into shooting milsurps. Thanks for having me.:)
Hello everyone I am fairly new to the gun scene. I'm trying to learn as much as possible. I am interested in becoming an armorer.
Hello everyone, I came across this forum while trying to find information about a few different rifles my father had in his small collection. I've found the site to be very informative, & am looking forward to using its resources to help in my quest.
Just want to say hello to all.
I have been struck with a desire to own a nice, shootable example of either a 1903 Springfield, or maybe an Enfield or a Mauser 98.
I know almost nothing about these guns, despite the fact my first centerfire rifle was an 03A3, especially as to what their current values are, or where to look for them for sale. Trying to learn about this is what has led me here!

Thanks:thup:,

Hello all,new to this Forum but not Mil-surps My collection is mainly WW2 era with some modern stuff thown in.My only Black rifle is a 4 digit Colt SP1 AR15 made in 1967.
Well I guess this is my Hello.
In a nut shell I am a M1 Carbine and M1 Grand owner. As well as a Star Model B (from the 1936 German Military purchase contract) And I'm looking to improve my knowledge of my M1's
When I figure out how to ask I'll have some questions about replacing the stock on my Carbine which has been messed up by a previous owner.
I have had a VERY long association with the M1 Carbine in fact my Freshman speech in High School was how to field strip and clean and M1 Carbine. Boy have times changed since 1973 when dad made a phone call to the VP and got me permission to bring the carbine (in a soft case) on the bus and to keep it in my hall locker until it was needed for the class. As I remember no one even checked on it. I think I told the bus driver it had been OKed.
I got an A LOL
Anyway my other hobbies are collecting Music (LP's CD's R2R tapes and Cassettes) Vintage Stereo Gear (mostly from the 70's) Photography and camera collecting, And control line model airplanes. Oh and restoring my 48 Willys Jeep and this stupid house.
Married 27 years father of a son who is a USN Electronics tech, step dad to a Daughter who was USN corpsman for 8 years but is now mommy to two beautiful daughters. So I'm grandpa.
I drive a 105,500GVW Kenworth T-800 "Pioneer" Dump truck and pup trailer for a paving and site development co. We build and repair roads from Forest service to Interstate freeways. And do everything from huge site jobs like car dealerships and distribution centers to subdivisions. And peoples driveways.
I've done a little 2nd Amendment lobbying and had a small part in Oregon's 1989 Firearms control act which unified the states concealed carry laws and made it possible for law abiding people to carry concealed.
Hunting and fishing since I was a kid.
For a while the wife and I were real big into Blackpowder Rendevous and muzzleloaders.
I guess I best shut up now before I have to buy all of you a beer.
hope to add to the discussion when I can.

An old man NEWBIE checking in. I am looking forward to learning a lot from the other collectors here. With the passing of this last Memorial Day, and my discovery of information about my "NAMESAKE" uncle(check out link below), I am ready to add a historical gun to my collection. I decided on going the "M1" route. I used the Garand when I was in the NAVY to shoot garbage bags from the fantail of the ship, I have never shot the Carbine before. My reason for wanting a Carbine is the historical tie to my uncle(see second link).
My purpose for getting this rifle is strictly punching holes in paper up to 100yds away. Maybe an occasional "ZOMBIE" hunt.
Please let me know what your opinions are and any thing I should be on the look-out for (good/bad) while shopping for my new addition.
Thanks in advance for your information. My posting id in the provided links is; fn111557.

Hello Folks. Another new member here. Glad to be aboard.
:beerchug:
New member here. My favorite MilSurp is my '03 Springfield. Made in 1929. Re-barreled July '42 to kill Japs. It appears that it spent most of it's life on the rack. The '42 barrel, I assume was due to corrsive priming not properly cleaned on the original barrel. The metal work is 95 % +. The stock was perfect except for being saturated with oil or cosmoline. I used Brownell's Whiteing to suck out the oil. I gave it a hand rubbed finish with Pilkington linseed oil. It now is a beautiful rifle that is extremely accurate. I would not part with it. I am anticipating spending a lot of time on this forum.
Hi Everyone, I just joined the forum and have about 10 years of collecting experience behind me. I am looking forward to reading the forums and learning more about a very interesting passtime. Thanks, nalla53

Retired and have an interest in Springfield 1903's. Memories of my Grandad's service rifle, or the one I played with a long time ago.
Now rebuilding, assembling parts from various sources. Intend on using the rifle for hunting and as a learning tool to gain knowledge about this rifle.
Reload for .45acp, .308, and .243 win(s). It's amazing the amount of information here. Thanks to all contributors, it makes my new endeavor safer and more enjoyable.

I am a new collector but have had a love for old guns for a long time. I own a beautiful Enfield "T" , a 1900 Colt SA, and a couple of others. I look forward to picking your brains!!(and hopefully spill some knowledge)

Hello all,
Just joined corrently new tot his but hope to gain some experience and knowledge here. I'm currently considering refinishing a 91/30 and was wondering if I should buy another one to keep the true history as it seems doing anything to these rifles ruins there historic value or atleast thats what im reading in the forums on here. I want to keep the historical value.
Hello everyone. I'm new to Milsurps.com and milsurp collecting. I've had my C&R license since March but haven't made any purchases yet. I'm trying to pay some medical bills off before I divert funds to collecting. I'm not sure what I'll be collecting but at this point I know I want to collect weapons from both WWI and WWII. I live in Southwest Louisiana and would like to get to know collectors in my area. I would like to attend one of the gun shows in Houston because I've always heard that they have a large selection of guns at fair prices. I don't know if that's true or not but it has to be much better than the local gun shows that have the same old dealers with the same old high priced weapons. The last local gun show that I attended had no milsurp rifles at all.
Anyway, I'm glad to be here and I look forward to learning as much as possible from other members.
Mark
Hi, I've got a USN MK 2 Ka-Bar. Nord-8114 B.M.co 1/5 VP. Does anyone know when it was manufactured and is it worth anything?
Howdy all. I love military style arms. I can't really say that I'm a collector because I love to shoot them as much as looking at them. So far I have accumulated a M-1917 Eddystone, M-1 Springfield, M-1903 Remington in original configuration and a M-1 Carbine. A M-1903A3 ( sportered by my grandfather. I ain't got the heart to change it back.) A M1A, AR-15, Colt 1911A1. I hope to learn a bunch of stuff from y'all.
Kindest regards,
Jim from NC:madsmile:

Hello Everyone,
New Member, Lee-Enfield No1 Mklll (Lithgow 1915) and M1903 Springfield (Springfield Armory 1918) owner. I look forward to learning and collecting.

Hello;
I have been collecting various weapons over the years. Started with Fox and LC Smith shotguns, then Military knives, (bolos etc), now some mil-stuff,
303 Jungle Carbine, and a M1 most recently.
hello, glad to find this site, i am acollctor and will fid it interesting.
Just saying hello - I've been shooting for years and I own an Enfield, Mauser, Mosins, AR-15, AK's, etc. But today I plunked down a deposit on my first Garand! It's a .308 so I hope that's OK - maybe not a purist's idea of a Garand, but I have plenty of .308 ammo so... Now I'm busy buying clips and learning about the gun.
The guy who owns the gun store is very helpful and told me about a 1,000 yard range not too far away; I'll start out at 100yds and work my way up:lol: Maybe I'll look into a scope mount that doesn't do any permanent "damage" to the rifle (although it's already been converted to .308). Any suggestions?
I'm going to pick the gun up in a couple of weeks at the latest, so I'll try and post pics and try to get in a "range report" - but it will probably only be 100 yards so... I'll also get the specific info on the gun - manufacturer, barrel type, etc. Maybe the serial number will give me a lead on "where the gun has been over the years"?
I'm sure I'll have plenty of noob questions in the future and I'm looking forward to learning as I go.
Thanks for your patience,
Jack
Hello everyone!!
I am a new member to the Milsurp collectors forum. My first name is David.
I live in rural Manitoba and very new to gun collecting for target shooting and hunting purposes. :beerchug:
I will probably end up asking a lot of dumb questions but please bear with me and not too many smartass remarks as this usually just confuses the hell out of me and never answers what I want to know.
I have always found it much easier to ask or be asked a stupid question and give an honest answer than to try and fix a stupid mistake.:)
Hope to hear from you all and have enjoyed reading the entries so far!
Hello everyone. I was a regular at the old CSP website. Been gone a long time but hopefully will be posting again soon.
Hi Guys (and any Gals I might have missed?). 49 year old collector here. Never served in the forces, but my Dad and Uncles did and I learned firearms handling, shooting and hunting from them, as well as a respect for the serviceman. Developed my own interest in modern day combat arms and many of those are now considered historical developments. Have a special place in my heart for the original Armalite company and the Sterling Armaments company as well. Did a limited stint with Reed Knight of Knights Armament fame here in Florida. Met Eugene Stoner through Reed before Mr. Stoner passed (this was back in 1995) Reed's personal collection includes the early prototypes from Eugene Stoner as well as the ONLY AR-16 (Armalite) I have ever seen in real life (their .308 version of the AR-18), plus many, many more seldom seen examples of firearms. Some from Knight's own design efforts.
Have my favorite English rifles in the form of several Lee-Enfields ( a No. 4 and a Sante Fe conversion to a Jungle Carbine), an L1A1 rebuild on DSA receiver and a Sterling Mk 6 semi auto carbine (16" silly wanker barrel). From a purist standpoint, nothing very special, but I love shooting them all the same. Hoping to find some sources in the UK for Suit sight parts. This seemed like a good place to start? Also for some L1A1 information.
Always interesting to see how the firearms community and regulations work in other parts of the world. Took a trip to England, summer of 2006 and had a BLAST! Went to the War and Peace show at Hop Farm and loved every second of that thing. Would love to get back to England soon. The museums are FANTASTIC!

I am thankful to a good buddy of mine for introducing me to this site and forum. I am around 15 mos from retiring and plan to expand my collection of military rifles. The information that is consolidated here is the best I have seen.
I will be retiring to Bath, NC and will be looking for a gun club to join in that area.
My thanks to all of you who are military or retired military. It is always approriate to remember you who have served and even more so at this time of year. Independence Day is the remembrance of what started our great nation and you folks are who preserves it.
Newly joined and looking forward to increasing my knowledge and collection.
Hello all,
I'm from Alabama and just wanted to say hello and have a great 4th of July!

Just want to say howdy. I am new to this, I just bought a M.N. 91/30. It's been fun to shoot, and I can consistantly hit a 9"x9" square at 50 yds. I won't brag about how tight the groups are, though. But I can hit it pretty much every shot. (That's with iron sights and age-weakened eyes.) I look foreward to learning from the experience of this group.
Hi all just found the forum and joined.

Hi,
I represent a small manufacturing facility in Texas and we cater to a number of WWII type semi auto builds. Our latest project is of an American made FG42 and we are trying to get the word out and see what the interest is! Thanks again!
Hello everyone long time competition shooter and collector. Great site
Thought I would introduce myself since I haven't posted and have been here quite a while.
Thomas Jackson is my name, just started collecting last year. So far I have come across a nice 43 91/30mn one m-28 from SKY. The SKS is a russian 53, the best by far is my 43 Swiss k-31 short rifle. Hardly a ding in the walnut stock, still a great shooter. Think I got lucky since I picked it up for just $200 now ones in my condition go for 350 or better. Anyway glad to meet ev1.
Greetings! I've watched the board for years, but never posted. So,......Howdy, folks. I like U.S. military weapons from all time periods. Also am in to Military Vehicles, including a Model 1917 Machine Gun Cart that's under restoration. I have a dummy Vickers that will be carried by the cart.
glad to be OFFICIALLY aboard!

Hi all
I found your site whilst I was looking for information on enfield p53's. Which I purchased :D
Its the only military gun that I own at the moment. As I do not have a licence to shot it, its
held as an antique. But having seen them being used it will be better than me I think. When I get my camera working I will post some pics.
I JUST WANTED TO SAY HI TO TO ALL OF YOU, AND HOPE YOUR HOLIDAY WAS PLEASANT, AND DONT FORGET ABOUT OUR 2nd AMENDMENT RIGHTS. THANK YOU ALL. CHUCK CONNOLLY 7-5-2010 8:01 PM
