salutations to the membership
This site is now pretty slick and I'm very much hoping that I can BS and trade with fellow connoisseurs of the old and greasy instruments of war. We Canucks might labour under different levels of bureaucracy but nothing could make me happier than banging away with a 90 year old smoke pole that has probably seen a ton more sh*t than I'll ever see, even in LE....
There are still bargains out there that just require a little TLC and parts knowledge to make them shine on the range. 'Sporterize' is just an idiots way of saying 'bugger-up'.
My two cents, chamber on amigos....
Ohio Shooter Checking In!
Been into surplus firearms as long as I can remember! Been enjoying shooting them as well! I have participated at Camp Perry In the National Matches since the 90's and really enjoy it. Great site!
Hello and comeup question
Have been a hanger-on and registered.
A general question about come-ups for Service Rifle. Long ago, I recall a thread by Master Po?? on the old CSP website that had general elevation comeups for all service rifles - M1/3006, M14 with M872?? ammo and AR 15.
Would someone supply? Thanks, Tom
M1Carbine 'Bring Back' Underwood barrel 12-43&STD. PROD.ec.slide safety& flip sight.
Hello, I am a new member from the Pittsburgh, PA area. I own a M1 carbine 'Bring Back' that my father brought back after fighting in the Bulge and other theaters. We had 250 rounds he brought back too, that I shot already unfortunately, and it has an Underwood barrel stamped 12-43 and a STD. Prod. Receiver also the cross cannon stamp on the butt and a small 'P' stamped on the top middle of the barrel. How can I find out if this is an original, a Gov. rebuilt? Did they use different company parts when they built the originals? Where else do I look for markings? It does not look like it ever had a bayonet lug, which to me helps verify it was not a gov. rebuilt modified on most after WWII. It has only 2 rivets holding the hand stock and top wooden part together not four. I was told that is a good sign too. It has the slide safety and flip up sights also. I would like to know what I have and what it is worth. My son hit a plastic gallon milk bottle right under the lid at 100 yards, though he was trying for the cap. So it shoots well still. Thanks and I hope to hear from some of you on this. Brian
1935 Brazilian Banner Mausers
Hi folks,
I recently acquired a pair of 1935 Modele Brazilian mausers in 7 mm that are in mint condition, unfired, one is still in the grease, and other has been somewhat cleaned up. Both are totally matching numbers with the matching bayonet and scabbords. I have a line on a third rifle in a similar condition, but without the bayonet. I will get pictures of all three and attach ASAP.
These were imported to Alberta in the early 70's and sold for about $150.00 ca with bayonet and an actual target. I talked with the fellow who sold them and he said they occasionally still show up, but most have been either fired or converted to sporters.
While i'm not a collector, I still appreciate quality and these old rifles are incredible. I wish we could yet workmanship like this now.
The rifle that has been cleaned up is missing the butt plate and screws as well as the action bolts but I believe they are retrievable.
Any thoughts as to fair market value?
Ralph

Hello out there, wam here.
Wam, my names initials. Thought i posted a hello, a while back. Also, i am not shouting with capitals. I find it easier to read caps on screen. Someone told me caps was shouting. Also, have rheumatoid arthritis, typing difficult. I enjoyed going over the site the amount i did. Last night i happened apon the"lewis and clark air gun". Remarkable! In the 60's i always wanted a .177 seridan blue streak. Looks like i can modify the .22 crossman c02 i got for christmas, instead of the sheridan. I am 59 yrs. Old. Got my first rabbit when i was 12 or 13. Used iver johnson 12 ga. Single. Bagged it about 150 ft. From here in 1963. I am in the city now, damned immenint domain laws of nc. Unconstitutional. Cannot shot these days. Can lift a small calibre pistol, barely. Brought up out in the country, piedmont north carolina. Used to be pretty handy, with firearms, recurve bow and throwing knife. No fun anymore. The reason i searched on line about firearms was to find out the history and monetary value of a 1903-a3 camp perry match model. I purchased it from a ww11 army col. In 1968-9. Thats what he said it was. It was manufactured by remington. It has a lyman peep site. Had an impressive grouping at 2 and a half power line towers. Do not know actual distance. Did not fire it allot. Good ammo was to expensive and more affordable military surplus nato, was steel jacketed and not good for barrel, i was told. So with rheum. Arth. And being on disability i have to consider selling it. Someone told me the nra could provide the history of the 03 from its serial #. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Arms are giving out now. Going to soak in cool water. Posting......wam

New old F*** in California
I first met the M1 carbine about 40 years ago, when a friend got one from the CMP (or whatever it was called in those days) for $20. I finally just got my own from the CMP a couple of weeks ago. It cost a bit more than $20, even allowing for inflation, but it is sure worth it.
I'm not into milsurp that much really, I just like the M1 a lot. Thanks for running a great website.
Introducing myself, again.
Hello all, it's been a long while since I visited this wonderful site. Attending a gun show this last month has got me interested in my old service rifles. My son and I share a small collection of older rifles such as Garands, carbines, and Moisin-Nagants. What brought me here today was to seek information for an Armalite AR-18 that was given to me by my father-in-law. His dad apparently knew some folks that worked in the Armalite factory in Costa Mesa in the 60's. He was a police officer in that part of California during the 60's as well.
