He llo, New to milsurps, am 46, have always been a shooting fan, have several old guns, including a, S&W model 1 Type 2 @ 1856 and a 1827 flintlock conversion, made by P. & E.W. Blake, and several more old long guns and SxS shotguns, pistols all the goodies needed to have a fun weekend, well nice posting, hope to talk to others at some point, thanks, dp.

New to this forum, looking for production date info on a newly acquired MK III*, Enfield, 1918, SN E742. I could also use some input on level of restoration for this old warrior. It appears to be intact, save bayonet (buyer had it but wanted $200 for it!), with matching numbers on receiver, bolt, nosecap and stock just aft of the nosecap. Lots of dings and bruises and even the shallow sanding hollow on the foreend where they smoothed out the cutout for the volley sight. The bore is in super shape with strong rifling and no apparent erosion. Well cared for with no rust. I'm thinking just denatured alcohol to remove some of the grime from the stock. The seller said he hasn't shot it in a year or two but included 18 rounds of 150 grain Wolf ammo! To the local gunsmith soon for a quick checkout and then to the range. Will post pictures when I figure how.

Oldest milsurp is my GrandDad's Trapdoor which I am just getting in working order for deer hunting this year. That should put a different feel to the hunt, ay?

I found your site while researching for an M1 and 1903 build for CMP Service Rifle matches and general research on my other toys. Then I started looking at the threads for Smith Corona, Springfields and when I saw your knowledge library I just had to join.
I am looking forward to picking brains for help, not in just collecting and restoration, but for anything that will let me get these oldtimers back up and running again better than before.
Quals with an M4 vs. doing the same in a Service Rifle Match with an 03 or an M1, way cooler.

Just wanted to say hi. Been collecting Lee-Enfields for a while and wanted to find out more about the ones I have, markings, history etc.

New member to this forum. A newbe to forum use. My collection includes a Remington 1903-A3, British Longbranch No.4 MK 1, and a M1 Carbine from Rock Ola Manufacturing Co.
Interests include: rifle, pistol shooting and trap and skeet.
