Hi,

registered to the forum today and want to say Hello to everyone. I'm living in Germany and have been a target shooter for more than 30 years, the last 15 with military rifles in the german Army's reserve shooting association. Funny thing about it: I don't use any german made rifle, but a US-made M1917 and a swedish M41/b (made in 1910). Only recently I acquired a 1903A3 and a M1 Garand chambered in 7.62 Nato, both of which I still have to become accustomed to. That's why I think I will post some questions in the forum soon.

Hey, how goes it? Found this site while looking for info on a couple rifles...one is my son's CZ Vz52 and the other is a pre 1899 Chilean Mauser. I will be looking for parts to restore the mauser to milspec (currently a bubba sporter) and some parts to complete the CZ.

Bookman here. Just found this interesting site. I used to be heavy into the surplus business years ago, but have been engaged in other "activities" since. I'm just starting up a web based business, mostly books (military, hunting, weapons, etc...) but will be handling some OUT-OF-THE-ORDINARY type surplus and mil-spec items. I'm presently in the Middle East trying to drum up some unusual items. I attempt to add to my inventory as soon as new items become available. I'm an ex-MOD cartographer, so I have a strong interest in maps, charts and navigation generally. I hope to be posting something about Prismatic Compasses on an existing thread, if I can figure out how to upload some pictures.

Hello to all readers. I'm a BC boy who had two uncles and my dad go through WW II. and make in back. They never said too much about it. I quite understand after doing much reading . Now, I acquired a somewhat sporterised 303 Lee Enfield No. 4 Mk 2 many years ago and have been poking around trying to correctly identify it and learn more about all the markings and history of it. There is a "T" mark om it, but does not look like it ever had a scope attached. I'm curious aboit that. I came across this site and dound it to be one of the better ones, good job !. More later.

I am a Milsurp collector who is mainly interested in US martial arms. I do dabble in many other country military arms with several examples of Finnish and British rifles. I do enjoy restoring many of the rifles as well as shooting them.

I have also spent a great deal of time in Civil War target shooting and hope to do more in the future.

I just found your site and love it! I am new to surplus rifles and am soaking up info like a sponge. I have had a Mosin for about 10 years and hunt with it every year.
I just bought a Chinese SKS with a triangle mark I beleve is a 13. Can anyone help me figure out where it was manufactured? Serial # is in the 2,000,000. It also has a pinned barrel so I am thinking it was made somewhere around 1980. Any help would be great.

I've been a target shooter for 38 years, a former USN Gunner's Mate, collector, reloader, and gun shop worker for some of the past 33 years. Just hope to make a contribution to this site and all the people here.

I kinda fell into this. Got my first Garand, a '43 Springfield 2 years ago, then compounded the problem with Harrington last year. The disease has been aggravated with the addition of an M1 carbine, an early '43 Inland, last week.
The wife prays for a cure, but I know there is none.:D

I am a military firearms enthusiast from Southern Alberta, Canada, and am currently working on a Lee Enfield No 4. Mk 1(T) replica. Courtesy of this site I have gotten much helpful instruction on the scope installation and on the plans for a replica trunk. When I finish the metal work I'm planning on refinishing the rifle with Matte Black Gunkote, as I think this gives an authentic finish and is very durable. I've been collecting military equipment for some time know. Since there is a lot of restrictions on weapons in Denmark I am only into edged weapons (bayonets - trench knifes and swords ) and magazines (you are allowed to own magazines on a license in Denmark, but now the weapons they belong too. For instance you can legally own magazines for: FNFAL, Stens etc. But not working weapons. They have to be de-activated)

I will lurk around on the gun boards and enjoy the weapons I cannot own, and post on the edged weapons part of the forum :lol:

I had no idea that there were people out there who had a thing for old military rifles. I figures mabe a few but...yikes, it seems like a whole bunch of you. I've always wanted a Lee Enfield, not the old ones from WWI but the newer version, like from WWII. I know they are accurate and wanted to sportsterize it. Well, I was at a gun show last December hoping and I found this No 4 MK 2 in what I think is grat condition. The previous owner had a from sight put on which I promptly took off. It was taped for for a scope too. So I went looking for a decent synthetic stock and that's about as far as I've got. I picked up this Ram Line but frankly it looks a little cheap & plastic. I've searched the net and was very intreagued by those colourfull laminated jobs but they were all one piece and they don't do Lee Enfields. So comrads, can anyone out there hepl me fine a great stock for my new acquisition. I also have to buff this thing down, get all (or most) of any dings out of it and then get it blued. But that's perhaps a another entry. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

G'day all. I've been lurking for a while, finally got around to registering. Have a M1917 action and barrel that are almost ready for build, just finishing the stock. Have a shooter Garand, and a couple of the Breda receivers that I'm collecting Breda parts for (almost done). M96 Swede and CG 63 in 6.5x55, currently somewhat tempted by another Swede.

I'm interested in picking up details on "complete and correct" on the various rifle types. Looks like a great resource here, thanks to those who have been doing the work.

Hey Guys I'm new & am looking to sell a few things

New to forum and looking forward to information and wisdom available here. I have a Garand, M1 carbine, Mosin 91/30, Sako M39, and Yugo M48. All are shooters, not much of a collector.

I am an avid collector of English Enfield Rifles and whilst I am lucky enough to have the 4T and L42a1 in my collection funds limit other items I would like to get.

I have recently turned my attention to Winchester Rifles. I obviously need to aquore a Winchester P14 to go with the rest of my Enfields but I a interested in a 1992 lever action rifle. I am shocked at the current price for oringinal examples. I am considering an original example of a copy namely the El Tigre. Any thoughts?

Have browsed the site a number of times & never got around to registering and now that I have, I see that I am expected to say a few words by way of introduction. So; hello to you all out there, herewith a brief potted history on my background and interests.
As the user name suggests I am an ex-REME Armourer having joined in 1960 and left in 1984.
Apprenticeship at Carlisle, did the normal rounds of BAOR, Far East and a 6 month stint in Libya when Gaddafi was only a Captain. Finished my time with a 5 year stint at RSAF Enfield, so I started with the No. 4 & L1A1 Rifles and finished with the lamented SA80 and Hughes Chain Gun.
Lifelong shooter of just about everything, albeit I packed in service and target rifle shooting some years ago. I have been a member of a game shooting syndicate now for around 30 years and shoot most Saturdays throughout the season. I have 3 English Springers, 1 retired and 2 still working. I use these for my own game shooting, plus I pick-up on a commercial shoot once a week. I work 3 days a week for a firm producing mounts for MGs mainly for vehicle and boat fitting. If you have seen `Mastiff` or the L/Rover WMIK on TV, thats one of our mounts. We also specialise in fitting day & night vision equipment to just about every weapon that is in service world-wide. I am a retired US Army SFC and then retired from 16 years as a Army Civilian employee, makes me a double dipper I guess. I spent about 16 years overseas, mostly in the Far East, with 5 years in Germany. The first 10 years I was in tank units and life was pretty rough. then I went into Logistics and learned a skill that I used till I retired from Civil Service. I have been collecting
C&R's for about 20 years. I like old Mauser mainly sm ring, some Finns, some rarity's in the Nagant series. I also have some nice BPCR original and replica. I still have problems explaining the value of buying a collectible at 300 and later selling at 600. She can grasp investments in any other form except guns. I also live in the SW about 50 miles north of the Mexican border and am as far a conservative on the right as Glenn Beck, maybe more on the right.

Hi ,I have joined a little while ago but have lurked up to now,I have 7 Enfields and a kar 98 which I shoot as often as possible.I also have some sporting rifles of various vintages with which I control deer and vermin.I hope to continue to improve my knowledge especially re. P14 "Enfields" as I own a very clean and tidy one.

My milsurps run the gamut.
I specialize in Galils.
My current favorite is a Knights - SR25 20" .308.
Pistols are good, too, especially 1911's.
1911's in .10mm are even better.
Revolvers in .41 mag rule.

Always remember:
"If your extraction is not eminent you cannot have too much ammo!
Fire and fall back, regroup and counter attack."

I am a collector of many things military. My first surplus purchase was in 1943. It was a 50 cal ammo box. Cost 50 cents. A lot of money for a 9 year old back then. It was in Gooding, Idaho. Troop trains would stop in Gooding to load water for the engine, just long enough to hand apples out to the troops. Of course I couldn't pass up the opportunity to ask the soldiers leaning out of the windows if they had any patches pins or foreign money for my collection. It took a while but I eventually filled that ammo can with treasures that I still have today.

I joined the Air Force in 1952 and was a gunner on the B-36 Peacemaker. Four years and out.
My interests over the next 50 some odd years has wandered from olive drab to nautical to cameras, Ham Radio, military vehicles and mil iron.

At 77 I've slowed down a bunch but still have a keen interest in all things military. Thanks to those of you that give us the opportunity to join in on the fun.

I am new to the board but not new to collecting and the Military and am both a Military Vet (USN - VP9/VP91) and a Combat Vet (USAF - 37thTFW).

I am retired from aerospace (Lockheed Skunkworks) and am an ex-aerospace engineer. I am also a master machinist, an A&P Mechanic, a Gunsmith of 30 years, a combat shooter of pistols, rifles and shotguns and have been collecting since I departed Uncles Canoe Club and began working for Lockheed. Used to live in Kommiefornia (Ontario) :bash: where my wife and I raised three children to adults however in December of 2005 we we escaped, sold our home and moved to Las Vegas New Mexico - no more Kommiefornia!!!! :clap:
