Very nice indeed. Not counting the crate, you are one third of the way to having a complete conversion kit. Just need the breechblock, action rod and then the barrel insert. Easy Peasy!

The breech blocks, 'action rod' and barrel inserts are the easy bits Ameng! It's the magazines that are the rocking horse manure....... Or more correctly, the .22 into 7.62 magazine interface block
The kit is the easy bit in the UK -

The hard bit is that you can't own a L1A1 as it was made as semi-auto (section 5)
Even if you were to permantly fix the sub cal kit in situ you still can't have one !
So unfortunatly it is now with someone who can use it.

Here's the cross section in the HK G3 manual. It looks like the block is right up there at the top.

A couple years ago I found a spare for my G3 kit. See if you can guess which one it is?

I bet that they've used the same bits of the kit for both the L1A1 and the G3. It certainly looks like it from the G3 side elevation print. Are G3 sub calibre kits rare?
G3 kits are not particularly rare in the US. They are still available today at the retail level for $500-600.
I'll bet that HK made a lot of the components. These differ in the shape of the breech of the barrel insert and bolt configuration of course. But I would not be surprised if some more of the internal bits were interchangeable. I'll probably never have them side by side.

Recently picked this kit up from the Great White North. Insert is HK stamped. Have used it in the C2A1 reproduction and it runs like a champ. Cheers.
