Does anybody else like late model features?

Many of the USGI rifles we have in our hands and in our vaults are 100 percent original. Sure its fun to have the money and time to throw parts at GI issue rifle to make it fit in our dream of an "original rifle".

They are only original once, and each part that is replaced, chips away at the rifles history, and deep inside, you know, someone will someday pass it off as completely original. For money. You may think you will live forever, but the reality is, that rifle will outlive you. It may be sold for a hundred bucks after you are gone, and it may have made you very happy. With that Rumanian flip sight that was made so carefully to fool the experts.

The more other people keep "restoring" their carbines to configurations as shipped , the more my as "last touched" "as used" military mix masters will be worth - LOL.....

FWIW:
I like the late features and the rebuilt " as issued " look. IMO, the nicest combination ( at least for sleek looks ) is all of the MWO required late features and an M1 stock without the selector cut. That said , the Walnut M1 Stocks tend to get tagged & bagged , and the utility birch goes on for every day use.

I have a birch SA stamped pot belly and handguard on the way so I can do just that.

I wouldn't know one feature from another, "type this" or "type that". I'm just tickled that I finally own one of these little jewels! IBM, made in 10/43. Got it for $500 from a feller that was kind enough to offer me two from his collection. LOTS of fun to shoot!

And to think I used to half-assed scorn the little pups as "toys", and not "real rifles". Once I fired it, that all went away. I'd keep it ready for home defense, if the wife wouldn't raise hell about it being visible.

I have a closet shelf in the bedroom that is 7 feet off the ground. My Underwood resides there, out of sight and reach of yougin's, with a 30 rounder in it (a "J" at the moment) and a stock pouch with two fifteen rounders. All mags filled with 110 grn JSP Remington. I feel supremely confident that 60 rounds will solve most any varmint or goblin problem!
