Andrew Jackson York has no idea what rifle his father used.

One of the more remarkable things about this discussion is that, during his lifetime, I'm sure York was asked literally hundreds and hundreds of times about the rifle he used in his daring exploits. Amongst his friends, acquaintances, neighbors, and those who interviewed him, this information was common knowledge. I'd bet that, with a little digging, a published interview could be found where York clearly stated what rifle he used. With a lot of digging, someone might even be able to find the serial number of it. There seems to be no doubt that he used a Colt M1911. I'm confident that the uncertainty about the rifle he used could, likewise, be easily resolved.
