Once you've centred up your mill over that stud hole, John, I'd probably put a small drill through first before going through with your carbide end mill. Otherwise we may have a broken cutter/damaged thread scenario.
We didn't seem to encounter any of this when we were doing them and the L42 was notorious for shearing off the screws AND the spigot on the front pad!
You say the third WAS a little harder?
