howdy all! I been playing with firearms for around 35 years and tend to like single shot firearms. I also like mausers, I have a 98, 1903 springfield and recently accquired a swedish mauser that I am confused about. Any help to identify this rifle would be appreciated.
Good Day, I am a new member & have owned various WW1 & WW2 and some Korean War military surplus rifles over the past twenty years. My interests as of late have been in 03 Springfield Rifles & No.5mk1 Enfields. My father served in Belgium, Holland & France During WW2. He never talk much about the war, but he did tell me alot about the rifles in general, as I had been bitten by the rifle/shotgun bug at an early age. I hope that I will be able to reference this site for information & maybe add a little of my own limited experience. Regards Jason
I'm not a collector but I do have a pistol I would like to find information on. I was told about this site by my brother (lawrence 253), I told him not to fire that 30-30 ammo through it!
What I have is a Walther PP with shoulder holster and a certificate authorizi ng mailing to the states(military form)
serial # 313282P
cal 7.65mm
mil form-AG USFET Form 33
any info greatly appreciated.
Howdy, I've got an interest in the Type 99 Arisaka. Usually hangout over at Gunboards Japanese forum.

What a MAGNIFICENT site this is! It is a real privilege to be able to access it.
New here been collecting since I retired in '93, didn't have time before. Have enjoyed it and it keeps me active.
Hello all. Been collecting military rifles for 30 years. Great site!
Hello to everyone. I spend most of my time online at castboolits.com which is where I found this forum. Thanks for the download of the Lee Enfield book. Currently, I am shooting two No. 4 Mk1s. Love surplus and unfortunately anything else a round comes out of from black powder to smokeless. Look forward to reading and posting on this forum.
Hi everybody; My first centerfire shooting experiences were with some guns my dad had brought back from WWII, a P07, and a 1944 byf k98. I have a fondness for the Lee Enfield rifles, and have a few of them. I reload and cast for the .303 British, 8mm Mauser, .308 Winchester, 30-30 Winchester, and .45ACP. I'm glad I found this forum, and will enjoy learning from this group.
Let me take a moment to introduce myself. I'm 52, a retired U.S. Army armorer, living in Maryland; a father and grandfather. I currently work as an instructor at the Ordnance Mechanical Maintenance School. I started out on milsurps as a kid because that's all I could afford - they were cheap, then! Now, they're about all I want to shoot and tinker with.
I spent several years in the Middle East as a defense contractor - all but one year of it was pre-9/11. That year was 2005-2006 in Qatar.
My current interests are Lee Enfields and Mausers. I am an accumulator rather than a collector. I restore, repair, reload, and shoot them.
I hunt, but prefer to hunt with flintlocks. For big game I just don't find shooting them from ambush with a scoped high velocity rifle very sporting any more.
And that's me. I'm sure I'll learn a lot from you guys, because I sure don't know it all!
Hey guys new guy to the site. I came over from the CGN site. Lots of great stuff here. Looks like I will be busy reading...
cheers Darryl
Hi Y'all (No I am not a redneck),
I am relatively new, but was busted on by management for not posting anything, so here goes!!
I have been collecting for about 1 year now, and here is what I have gotten so far:
4 - Mosin Nagant M44's - Various configs (2 laminated).
2 - Mosin Nagant 91/30/s - 1932(Hex and Laminated), 1925(Hex and solid)
2 - Russian SVT-40's - 7.62x54r semi-auto, One 1942 all matching, One 1943 all matching, pristine like new bore.
1 - Turkish Mauser - Circa 1896 - Very nice shape.
1 - M48A 1948 Yugo Mauser, Military new, Mitchell's Premium Grade w/all accessories.
1 - Egyptian Hakim - 8mm Semi auto - Pristine, perfect bore
1 - Yugo SKS, Unissued, Like brand new.
1 - Czech CZ-52 pistol.
OOPS, that is 13 guns. I better get another quickly. Wait, when I shot a round from the CZ-52 through the top of my coffee table into a stack of TV Guides took care of that bad luck thing.:yikes:
I guess not too bad for 1 year. Got some other guns on my list still to get. I have a C&R FFL as well to make buying easier. Cool?? Thanks for making me talk.
Tom
New member here. Love the site so far. I have only been collecting for a few years, but I have a life long passion for history.

Hello chaps,
Am learning my way around the sight. Am a Hi-Standard collector and now branching into Brit. guns.
I live in the Blaye wine region in SW France having moved here from Yorkshire in 2002. My 2 Milsurp weapons at the moment are an original Baker Rifle circa 1812 and a K98k Mauser in 8X60s. Will drop in and see how things are on a regular basis.
New member with a few words to introduce myself. I came here by following a thread on the Cast Boolits site, looking for information on G98/40 that is on the way to me. Um, it's been restocked and no longer looks very military, and I wonder if such things are acceptable here? Conversions of military rifles to sporters as it was commonly done in the twenty year following WWII is endlessly fascinating to me. When I obtain a type not owned before, I spend a lot of time trying to learn about the rifle in it's original dress and use. But, I do own several rifles, Springfields, Mausers, Mannlichers, in their original military dress. Thanks for the great site.
I am a new member and an experienced collector of milsurplus arms. I have many. I am most proud of my G43, G41 and Brazilian M954 rifles.
Currently I am in search of the AN/PVS 1 scope for the L42a1 Enfield.

Just wanted to say hello. I recently got into collecting milsurp...I have had a '44 No4Mk1 sporter for some time now, but within the last 3 weeks I have picked up a '36 Mosin Nagant 91/30, an RC Mauser 98K, H&R M1 Garand and arriving today...a '42 No4Mk1* Longbranch, NZ issue. I think I will stop there for now. I will be hitting the range on Sunday to give'em a go.
I do have my eye on a nice N4MKII, but the wife might kill me if I get another one,
Does the compulsion ever end? :D

Hi folks,
New to this milsurp thing but old enough to remember the days when you could carry your .22 on the handle bars of your bicycle when you and your friends went rat shooting at the local dump after school. I'm a British Columbia hunter and a shooter, but lately my interest in history has led me to look at WW1 and WW2 milsurps. Recently picked up a sporterized P-14...looks like a pro job on the sporterization. I fell in love with not only the rifle, but also the history that it represents. I realize it's not cost efficient or worthwhile from a collector's prospective, but I'm on the restoration trail for this P-14.
I suspect there are more milsurps for me in the offing. I can already feel addictive pull of these historical firearms. And, I feel we owe a debt to the men who carried these weapons into battle. The least we can do to honour their sacrifice is to preserve their rifles, battle scars intact, so that future generations may know a small part of the hell our fathers and fore fathers endured so that we, their children could live free.
Dave_n. Work for an US Gov't 3 letter agency as a chemist (and it is one you would send money to!). Ex-Brit, came over to the USA 40 years ago and am a collector of old military weapons, predominately handguns but with a rifle or three mixed in.
Hello everyone, I am a new member and collector. I am into WWII battle rifles and also modern milirary small arms enthusiast. It's nice to belong to this group. Have a great hunting guys.

Greetings, new member here. I've been collecting and shooting milsurplus for about 15 years.
It would seem that I have found Nirvana. Perhaps a grandious statement, but I am feeling postive that questions I have had for 20+ years are about to be answered. You see I am a 40+ year old husband, father ,raconteur, amateur historian, poker pro, ex stylist, eater of flesh ,as well as those vile earth grown things, confidant, gemologist, frustrated novelist, musician(noise maker),and finally, an avid outdoorsman!.
During my youth I was able to purchase a beautifull rifle. It is marked as a Parker Hale-No4,Mk1 Long Branch,1944. It came in a wood shipping case, with the last sticker on it being a CN rail tag with 1971 on it.I am most interested to learn of its value, and more importantly, the past of this exquisite battle rifle. My prized firearm, is to my eye, pristine.Several of my friends have said they have never seen a prettier gun.
Anyway, thatès enough gushing about my girl, she luvs me and I, her.
If any of you fine folks are able to help piont me in right direction I would be most appreciative.
Thank you J.

Hi guys,
I have been very interested in military rifles for the last 40 years and my first rifle a mosin model 91 that I paid $7.00 for. I don't have that rifle any more but have become very interested in the M1 Garrand, 1903 springfield, K31 Swiss, No.4 Mk1* and 1896 Swede. From what I see of this forum it appears I am in good company.
Hi:I am a New member. I live in Wv. Sure enjoy reading your posts.Just got my c&r. All have a good day. Spark.
Hi folks,
I am just easing back into collecting -- just bought one of those Long Branch .303 No.4 MK1*'s that are coming in through CAI. I'd forgotten how much fun spreading ancient grease all over the house is. Of course, my wife does not seem to share the enjoyment quite so much. :-)
I used to buy a lot of old surplus rifles 10 years ago, but rarely held onto one for more than a month or two -- Swedes, Enfields, SKS's and so many others were very cheap back then. I see everything is more expensive now.
Anyway, see y'all around.

Hello, I recently became interested in military surplus fire arms. I have a 1944 Mosin Nagant M44. I recently purchased 300 rounds of surplus Belgian Ammunition I have dubbed "Spammo," as it comes in a can similar to Spam. I have not had a chance to go out and test the rifle out, as it's been snowing and I live in a conservative mountain town that believes shooting ranges are far more evil than people shooting, unmonitored in the woods.

I'm primarily an ipsc shooter however, own a number of milsurps which will see some use this summer as I'm retiring.
Hello, All,

Hello everyone. I am a CGN member, and decided after getting comfortable there, that I should also sign up here. I have been collecting casually since I bought ny first rifle as soon as I was old enough to get an FAC (Enfield #5, ROF (F)) Starting to take it a bit more seriously as I get older.
Iam just as much interested in the history and development, and politics of procurement side of things as I am of buying the friearms (cheaper too!)
Looking foreward to enjoying my new membership here
I live in Southern Nevada and retired 3 years ago. I have collected firearms since my early teens, with special interest in those that have a military history. I'm currently documenting the research I have done on my collection so that my sons will know as much as possible about the firearms they will ultimately inherit.
Hope to be able to use this forum as one of my research tools, and am pleased to be on board.

Hi there! My understanding is that you can only get ammo for your rifle at the competitions held through the various Swiss clubs. I don't know where you are, but maybe the info one this page could help: Swiss Society of Vancouver
Good luck!
I am a new member.
I collect WW2 military rifles and pistols. M1 Carbines, Garands, 03A ect..
Mostly US but I have been expanding to German also.
Hello All,
I have just joined this forum although I have belonged to a couple of others for a few years.
I have a modest milsurp collection so far. I am hoping to get a representatve weapon (or two) from each of the major combatants of WW2 and WW1. So
far I have a Mk.4 and Mk.5 Enfield, a Mossie-Nagant, a Kar-98, an M1 Garand and an M1 carbine. I am on the lookout for a Japanese rifle next, or a Mk.3 Lee-Enfield.
I live in the mountains of north Georgia (USA) where I moved to about 8 years ago from England, although I presently work in Mexico. (Some commute!) The only other people I meet here with rifles are deer hunters, so if anyone else on the forum is from around this here neck of the woods (as the locals say) I would be glad to hear from you.
Malcolm
Hi all, my name is Pete ,I've owned milsurp rifles all my adult life. The first one was an M1 carbine when I was about 17 ,currently into Lee Enfields. The latest aquisition is a no4 T barreled action,....it's going to take a while to get it all together:) I'm not really sure why I do this to myself.:D
Hello, my modest collection consist of 2 Garands (one is a M1-D however) a beat up SKS, Mauser98 (Isreali conversion to 30'06) and two Lee Enfields, one an unfired Irish? model.

Hi folks,
I've been collecting and shooting milsurps for about 30 years. I shoot most all types of firearms, some in competition.
I work for Serengeti Rifles, and before that, was doing museum restorations and reproductions.
I joined this board, to dig up various firearm specific tips from time to time.
I am a moderator on the
Cast Boolits - Dedicated To The World Of Cast Bullets!
board, and most of my shooting is with cast bullets.
