Hi,
All I can say is I'm interested a little bit in everything since I was 8 years old when I was given an 1875 Swiss Vetterli that I still have, from old western colts, smiths, winchester levers, winchester 97 riots to Spanish American War colt 1894 US army , WW1 1911's, lugers to british Jeffreys, Hollands, Lancasters. I have to include a number of fine hunting rifles. I try to pick up the leather and anything that enhances these weapons. I guess I just can't make up my mind about what the heck I like best.
New member to the forum.Just aquired my first 03a3 and this seems to be the place to go to for knowledgeable info.Thanks,Mike.
Hi I am new to the site. I will be receiving a Enfield No.4Mk2 from my FFL this week & just got shipping notification on my CMP Special today. So life is good, life is very good.

My moniker is townmarshal which is my present employment. Have been shooting 52 of my 63 years, mostly rifle, including service years. Have recently had an M1917 restored and plan to use it a lot. Hope to have fun using this site.
I like to think that all military rifles are a bargain as they represent ruggedness, history, a certain simplicity and an aura of mystique as to who handled them, the action they might have participated in. Living in Northern Michigan has its advantages in that it is not too far to get to a place to shoot and no one complains about the noise. I have 140 acres with a small shooting range that I built and can reload as I shoot and try out the perfect load. My home is a few miles south of my getaway paradise.
I have quite a few gun dealers within short driving distances from my home and that really makes this area a paradise. One shop in particular is called Tony's Gun Shop located in our upper *****ula near the Soo (Sault Ste. Marie). It has an address of Dafter, Mi. These people are old fashioned knowledgeable gun people who like nother better than to wheel and deal and negotiate prices on used firearms. I have whiled away many a pleasant afternoon there always coming out with what I consider a bargain and they are happoy with what they got out of the deal. The bulk of their inventory is used firearms, reloading dies, scopes and slings.
I do all my own gunsmithing as I have picked up a couple of lathes and a couple of milling machines along with a welder and gas torches. The ultimate reward of many years of labor so my retirement is very busy creating and repairing my firearm bargains.
Hi all back after 40 years, into CB and whatever, ill be looking thanks.
Greetings from the central coast, Republik of Kalifornia. I'm a retired Army NCO who shot for about 15 years on Army Reserve pistol and rifle teams. My main interest now is cast bullet shooting and the most fun is shooting cast from military bolt guns. I have an '03 Springfield, a 1917 Remington, and a Longbranch MK I No.4, which pretty much comprises my military collection. I look forward to posting and reading posts on the Forums.
Hi! I am new to forum. I am interested in 30 cal carbines. Have an old surplus one that I am trying to accurize. Looking forward to learning more.
Thanks
My current effort involves a 1903 Springfield (Rock Island Arsenal)
Serial Number is a low 75,XXX (Manufacture Date of 1907)
Re-barreled in 1918 with an Avis Barrel. (Some pitting in bore, but fully functional)
I am considering restoration if I can locate a Rock Island Barrel dated between 1906 and 1909.
Anyone have any suggestions???
Thought I would join one of the best sights on the internet, I am partial to .30 calibers and love the M-14 / M1a, I even build a stock for it, you can check it out at ShortRifles.com. I needed drawing info for this rifle and found it on the web site, UuuRaah, Duke762
Hi, everyone. I just found this site today. I've been collecting various milsurps for around 10 years now. Looking forward to using this site and meeting everyone. Thanks!
Hello to everyone from eastern oklahoma...
Hi everybody. Just registered. Seems like a great forum. While im here let me start by asking if anyone knows where I can get a front sight/flash hider for a #5 jungle carbine? At a reasonable price. My daughters chipped in for me for my birthday and bought me a really nice condition carbine except that the front sight is off, and someone cut the sight protector off. I was told if I can find a replacement unit i can sweat the old one off and the new one on. Dont know how im gonna line up the front sight but....one step at a time. Appreciate any help i can get.

Hello all. New to milsurps.com
I'm a paramedic that is an avid target archer & meat hunter with bow or gun. Never trophy hunt with anything besides a camera. Was taught to leave the breeding bulls to do just that so I could harvest meat next season. Grew up shooting a .303 & bow for food.
I've just acquired my own .303 Lee Enfield No.1 MkIII* Price of commercial ammo is awful, so I'm looking into all the reloading equipment. I've been using this forum to make sure I get it right. Not willing to have a near death or better experience. :yikes:
Could really do with some assistance on head-space gauging (before I put the 1st round through the barrel), barrel slugging, basic reloading equipment that's reliable & solid, & reloading dies that will last longer than I do.
I live in Ottawa & am also looking for a good gunsmith in that area.
Cheers
Warren
Retired from Federal Law Enforcement in 1993. Have extensive experience in past M1 NRA MATCHES, and somewhat extensive in Law Enforcement PPC pistol competition. While I am not a collector of firearms I do have some fine guns, some in the category of collectible.
Now in my mid 70's I do more fishing than shooting since I live right on the famous Umpqua River that is noted for very large steelhead and both species of salmon during their annual run up the river to lay their eggs.
I was the firearms instructor and training officer for my agency in Central California. During those years we evolved from 2" revolvers, to 4" S&W 38's, to Sig 9mm. Today, of course, the semi automatics are more powerful for Government issue.

I started M1 NRA match shooting with Army Marksman units in 1957, and continued in the Reserves until 1966. What info are you looking for? My first post is after yours since I just joined this forum.

Hi people,im new here:dancingbanana:
Have nice things here
Hi, my interests are weapons used in military conflicts on the african continent, so just about any gun:lol:
Hi all, I was born a poor weapon-deprived urban child. My daddy had been a hunter when he lived in the up country and proudly showed me his 30-06. I always wanted to play with it.
Zoom out nearly 50 years and now my son's at RMC and I figured I should try to keep up with the bugger so I've recently applied for my PAL.
I'd like to build a small collection of milsurps (as well as some practical target rifles) to share with him and I've got my eyes on a Ross to start. Why not begin with a bloody great Canadian rifle that can blow your face off you if you don't treat it right? :dunno:
So I'll be lurking here occasionally and showing off/pestering you gentlemen about any acquisitions. Thanks for your patience and advice in advance. Regards, Arlo
Here from the great state of missouri
I have been lurking and wearching these foums lately. I have a couple of MilSurps myself and am holding several more for a friend. I have always loved older, "classic" arms.
I look forward to using this forum and hopefully can contribute.

Hello from west tn. I am on here to get info to help my son. He is 14 and has been a WW2 nut for years. His goal is to buy a M1 carbine of his own. He is working at a corner store and has saved up $500 so far. I don't know much about the M1's but I am in law enforcement so I'm pretty confident with guns. My area of intrest is flintlocks and .357 revolvers. My son is a very good marksman and owns three shotguns already. Any guidance you can offer will be greatly appretiated. If you know of a good gun at a reasonable price please let us know. Thanks

New Member here... I have a US Springfield Armory Model 1903 Mark 1 Built Jan 1920... I am a gun collector that is still fairly new at it... I also just completed a Machining class at a local school.
I have been trying to locate Machinist prints (for several years) for the Pederson device to see if I was able to make a functioning replica of the "Pipsqueak Pistol" simply to do it.
I also am looking at the Prospect of Building from scratch My own M4(Semi Auto of course) and/or an SR25/AR10 still have not really decided which I will go with yet.
I am glad to be here and I am sure I will be able to learn alot.. Thanks for the Forum.
New member here. GREAT Forum. Thanks to all. Jim
Glad to be a part of this forum. I have a Winchester 1917 with Remington Bayonet, Mosin Nagant, British 303 (U S Property) sporterized. Also have a chance to buy a French MAS MLE 1936 serial # m 80867. It is in good shape and appears it would be a good shooter. What should I offer? What about 7.5 X 54 ammo? Is it priced right? Thanks, Malvin

Hello everybody, I´m joining the community because I have a Carl Gustafs 1907 m94 14 carabine, and I wanted to know if someone can tell me where to find an adjusting tool for the sights.
Thanks
Hey All!! I'm a new member. Retired USN (CWO-Engineering) and lover of all things Military. I have a great fondness for John Moses Browning's 1911 45acp pistol. ( happy hundreth birthday!!) I am looking at a Garand rifle now and thought I'd tap this groups knowledge to learn about it. This site has pictures of an Italian Garand that are very close to the one I'm looking at. The markings on this rifle are as follows:
BREDA
MECCANICA ROMANA
ITALIA
(ABOVE IS ON THE SIDE OF THE RECEIVER)
FKF
Nr
BMR3800
(THIS IS ON THE TOP / REAR OF THE RECEIVER)
D28287 W.R.A.
(THIS IS ON THE ACTION)
THE ONLY OTHER NOTABLE DIFFERENCE FROM THE GARAND PICTURES ON MILSURPS IS THAT MY RIFLE DOES NOT HAVE ANY NUMBERS ON THE STOCK. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE AN AUTHENTIC SLING AND MAYBE A BAYONET. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY INFO / RESCOURCES ON THIS RIFLE. Jeff
Hope you enjoy it I have found out a lot of things since I joined .
I am reloading some 308 Win. today to shoot out of my 1968 MK 1 Infield .

Just a quick hello to you all, I have perused this forum on and off when researching different subjects, finally joined and have been pestered ever since to introduce myself.
I have a varied interest, Fullbore Target Rifle, Service, Field Class and Rimfire. I am an Armourer/Dealer, 26 years military Service- Army, a collector of Military bolt actions, having lost a nice Auto collection to Jackboot Johnny, and my current interest is Target sight collecting.
I note that there is a lot of expertize out there and I will probably be picking a few brains shortly, so once again, hello.
Hello, I just registered a few minutes ago. I presently have a C&R license and have been a gun collector all of my life. This looks like a very interesting place to spend time on the web...

Hi all. I'm what you'd call an "accidental" collector. I woke up one day and pulled all my guns out and said "D#mn!" :move eek:
I'm a 25yr+ soldier,2 combat tours(Desert Storm 1989-90 and Desert Goat Rope2005-06),who likes to take his work home with him. Machinist, welding instructor for Uncle Sam right now.
Always liked the old "battle rifles" and the smell of cosmolene and corrosive ammo.
I shoot a Mossberg 44us property .22 with peeps mostly now. $$$$ammo but love all the older mossberg 22's. Like finding the old "pawnshop" mossy .22's. Love finding out the info and history of them and the military guns.
Some strange reason my military rifle side of the safe got bigger and bigger.
The military list=
Polytech M14 in the box like new
FNFAL
Polish Tantal AK74
Polytech AK47
Austrian M1 carbine (thanks dad!) Oh, by the way I have your carbine. LOL!
44US property Mossberg .22 (CMP papers)
1903a3 Remington circa Mar 43 Couldn't pass it up! $300bucks! Newest addition to the pile.

Hi all,
I'm an ole nam vet just stopping by to say hi. Also, am trying to find out if anyone knows what those Army test score acronyms meant that we took at the start of Basic. My test was from Jan 1969. An example, AR stood for Arithmetic, OCT for Officer Candidate Test. There are about 25 different categories of test scores from my old military records (maybe a DA 20 form). Just out of curiosity was wondering what it all meant.
Hi everyone, im a new member from tassie (south island of australia), an need some help. I have Lee enfield No1 Mlll* that I have turned into a sporter, ramline stock etc. and have started reloading using 125 grn sierra pro hunter projectiles. The problem i have with this projectile is the loss of velocity caused by the amount of freebore and gas bypassing the projectile before it can engage in the rifling. The reloading data in the manual im using suggests I should be getting around 2900 fps but I estimate im only getting between 2000-2200 fps. Can some one give me some advice on if it is possible to have the throat shortened to help with this problem.
New member, havent been collecting long. Have k98, swissk31 and nagant. lloking forward to any suggestions or advice. I do reload.
Chuck
Hi: I'm new on this site, looks pretty neat. Looking for info on a 7MM Mauser.
7MM Venezuelan Mauser serial # 35XXX, old style coat of arms with the horse facing right.
I wonder if anyone can tell more about this gun. It's in close to like new condition, serial numbers on the receiver, barrel & bolt match. Barrel is clean.
Any idea of value?
No other marks other than shown in the pictures that I can find -- no marks on ths bottom of the receiver, no 2 digit mark where the BBL meets the receiver.
Do any marks confirm where the gun was made & what year?
It measures 44" overall, bbl measures 23-1/3"
Check the pictures for other marks -- The small rectangle box & marks on the bolt to the left of the S/N is shown in the past pic.
Is any particular ammo recommended for this gun? Any ammo to avoid?
New to the site...I am looking for Bill Bentz's email address to order a USMC front sight cover.

Hi
I have a 1945 mark4no1* that I've owned for over forty years, but was unaware of the significance of the MP on the side until a retired rcmp friend informed me.
The s/n is 83L5329
I would like to know if this s/n is on any of your lists.
thanks

Hey everyone ! New guy here. Just thought I would say hello, and show you guy's my M1. It's an Inland, not sure of the manufacture date, maybe you guy's can help me out on that.
Anyway, it's a great shooter. With it's mild recoil, and lightness my wife and kids really like to shoot it. It's all "stock", and it is a tack driver. I inherited it from my step-father (GOD bless Him) along with some of his other pieces.
I plan on getting another stock for it, so as to preserve the one that is on it. Other then that, I throughly enjoy owning this fine weapon  .
Hi!
Just checking in.
Michael
I own a 1919 a4 thats converted to 8mm mauser. Iam looking for 8mm mauser tracer any info or help on were i could purchase this ammo would be appreciated.
Hello MILSURPS members, just doing some research on Enfield Bayonets.
Hi Glad to have you join I also have 2 of these fine rifles one that still has all the marking not filed off with air plane sites .
And I also reload .
ARE THERE ANY CAST BULLET SHOOTERS OUT THERE? Iam sure there are. Lets hear from ya:wave:
Yep, "newer" member here. First post but have spent quite a bit of time reading. Got into collecting and shooting milsurps because I started casting bullets. Have only been doing both for about 3 years, but it has been fun. Thanks for the forum!
Hello to all!
Newbie Earl here, thank you for giving me this opportunity to learn from you. I'm now retired and have more time to devote to my interests.
Hello, I am new to this forum. I just bought my 5th Garand, an H&R from the CMP. I've been having a problem with its functioning:
About 1 - 3 times for every clip, the trigger does not reset and the hammer is down w/ the bolt closed on a chambered round. I am able to cock the hammer by pulling the bolt back about 2/3 of the way, and it will then fire that chambered round. The rifle ejects & feeds fine, and I am holding the trigger back after the shot.
Can anyone tell me what might be causing this problem? I had the trigger cleaned up by a former Army armorer, but he doesn't seem to thing it could be anything w/ the trigger, and suggested things like op rod problems, dirty gas system or chamber, etc. However, I cleaned & lubed it well before shooting it, and it was in near-mint condition as I got it from the CMP.
Hello everyone
I am new to your forum. What a wealth of information here! I've had an M39 for years, and last year got an M1 to participate in CMP games. Recently picked up a sporterized 03A3 that I am currently trying to return to original configuration. Don
I'm a new member to Milsurps. I'm interested in milsurps that are usable and are shooters. So, I'm more likely to find one with a little "character" to the stock and finish, but has a decent bore, instead of trying to find a like new example.
Hello Forum members, A new member here. I've appriciated looking in from time to time. And finally joined in. A long time multiple period living historian. Plus having collected a resonable WWII german army display. Thanks for having me.
Hello every one. My name is Don from Joshua Tree. I live out here in the middle of no where,so I can do some long range shooting with no problems from neighbors. I'm ex military, Vietnam vet, ex Deputy sheriff. I'm divorced my ex and kids have pretty much pilfered my rifles and pistols. The only thing i have left is a 410 shot gun for snakes( i mean allot of snakes) and a lee enfield no 1 mk 3. My enfield had a problem of shooting down in a vertical string. The rifle was given to me, its history vague. I suspected bedding issues. The stock was glued to the barrel with epoxy. After a couple of days work I was able to brake it free and remove the epoxy. So my question to any one who can help. How to properly bed a no1 mk3, presure points considered, should it be free floated up to the fore end etc, any help or links would be appreciated, Don from Joshua Tree...

New Guy, new to Mosin Nagant mostly. I'd like to pick one up to and modify it synthetic stock, modern scope, modified bolt. What model would you recommend, I have two that are most accurate with bayonet attached, not what I would like in a modified version. I appreciate the thread about NOT refinishing the old mosins, I was seriously considering working mine over before I read it.
Hi all! I was browsing through the web to find out if the Krag carbine I just bought is a cut down rifle and stumbled on this wonderful site. Looking forward to posting and reading !!

03lover,
New Member.
I have been collecting WW 1 and WW 2 firearms for fifty years. Lately I have been selling some items and turning the money into reloading supplies so I can enjoy shooting these old but fun to shoot guns of the past, mostly with cast bullets.
Punching holes in paper and knocking things down can bring joy to an older retired person.
hi everyone.i'm not only a new member but also new to milsurp shooting and collecting.i picked up a chinese sks that is in real good shape and shoots pretty good.i'm looking at buying a swiss k-31,swedish m96,swedish m/1938 or a finnish m91/30 or finnish m39.maybe you guys can help me decide which one to get first.i'm looking at accuracy and being well built.i'm looking forward to talking with you...P.S this is my first thread and i'm also fairly new to computers.
Interest in mostly modern stuff with the exception of DCRA converted No4's to 7.62mm, I'd consider myself a restorer of DCRA's rather than a collector, love to shoot them as well. Myself & a few members of Canadian Gunnutz have cataloged & tracked down more than 200+ DCRA converted No4's, mostly Longbranch's so far, there is lots more outhere!
Also have a slight like on Swedish M38 Mausers :)
Hello Im a new member, enjoy collecting military firearms, WWl and WWll, love 1903 Springfields, M1911's, 1917's, have collection of WWll Posters, Leather Holsters, etc; Vietnam Veteran served with HQ Co 9th Marines, 3rd Mar Div Scout Sniper.
Greetings from France. I'm 49 and have bought my first milsurp in 1976 (a M43 Spanish Mauser) ... and I still own it. France's gun laws at the time didn't make it easy to own a surplus rifles. After having traveled around the world, I've settled back to France some years ago and decided to take these nice things out of their crate and to bring them to the range. Nowdays, it's easier to purchase and keep a surplus rifle and that's nice !
Thank you for all the valuable material I've found browsing your forum.
Thierry
Hi everyone
Just joined and doing some research. Current Milsurp includes a Lee Enfield No5 Mk1 (F) and a Chinese SKS.
Grew up carrying a No4 in the CCF and looked after L42's and L1A1 as company armourer for a while.
Only here to find out about a RIA 1903 Serial # 6242. Have found out it was manufactured 1903. This has a sporterized stock, recoil pad and civilian sights. front sight is screwed to barrel and hides a 'B_ _', and under that is a '9_ _5'. This rifle was given to me in 1961( I was 15) by a retiring salmon fisherman in Juneau Alaska. Have read conflicting stories on soundness of the rifle and am seeking some knowledge. Thanks in advance for any help.
Hello all:
I'm a new user, from Houston, Texas. I recently inherited a number of military surplus rifles from my brother, and I am trying to get them back into usable shape. I'm fairly experienced with guns of the Old West.
:cheers:I've interested in owning a Garand for ages and finally bought on a few months ago and I joined looking for help and advice about it's history, locating a possible replacement correct stock and my next addition, an M1 carbine. 1st thing I would like to find out is where did the rifle go after it left Springfield Armory in June of 1942. Is there anyone that can direct me to help in this search?
Just a quick note to say hi. I am the recent proud owner of a O3A3 Smith Corona. I also have a Remington Rand 1911>
