Newbie from The Peoples Republic of Massachusetts
I have just recently found this forum, I want to introduce myself. I am a ex-US Navy Photographer, one time LEO, and collector of Military Surplus weapons as well as BOSTON POLICE MARKED GUNS.
I currently have the following in my collection (not counting the 5 BPD guns)
5 US Navy Victory revolvers (3 US Navy marked, all factory letter to USN)
2 Victory's in .38 S&W
1 Pre-Victory letters to British Purchasing agent in 1940
1 1917 Colt Revolver
1 1917 S&W Revolver
1 Luger 9mm, Nazi markings and East German Police markings
1 P38 - Russian Capture
1 1934 Berretta Italian Army marked
1 1935 Berretta - serial number put it to German Army
1 Walther PP 1939 .380 Nazi Marked
2 Russian Nagant Revolvers
1 British Webley 38 S&W
1 CMP Garand - Springfield Armory
1 CMP M1 Carbine - Winchester
1 1917 Enfield
3 No 4 Enfields (or is it 4?) Savage, Maltby, Longbranch
1 No 5 Jungle Carbine
1 German K98 (not Mitchells)
2 Mosin Nagant 91/30
1 Mosin Nagant 91/30 reproduction Sniper
1 AK47 Romanian
I also recently traded my Remington Rand 1911 for a Boston Police gun  with provenance and a 1862 Springfield musket (non shooter), since my real quest is BPD guns the trade made sense to me
I think I am forgetting something :surrender:
I enjoy the history on these.
Military 1911 A-1 NM question
Recently viewed a SA, NM pistol with a stippled front strap. The pistol is an original military rebuild at the Springfield Armory and in near unissued condition. The hammer spring housing is also stippled. The stippling is to perfection.
I have in my collection a similar hammer spring housing that was acquired from a fitter who worked on the original NM line at the Armory, also in new condition.
I have read that the Marines used 1911 A-1 match pistols with stippling.
My question: Is such a NM pistol considered an original military NM pistol?
My first post, hope I am on the right page.
