Hi,
I am an Army vet (1968-1975) and have my fathers 1911A1 (remington SN 142169). He carried it in Germany, Luxomburg and Holand with the Golden Acorn (87th) Division. Was looking around the web to find information about 1911A1s and prices.
I carry a Smith & Wesson M&P .40 for work and for off duty cary.
G'day, I am interested in shooting a Ross rifle in 303 fullbore competition in Australia. If anyone has any tips or ideas about setting a Ross MKIII military rifle up for this type of shooting It would be appreciated.
Cheers, Martin.
I spent 30 years in United States Marines I will talk about any subject except 3 things politics religion and women. My weapon of choice is the M14 an M1A. I do my own reloading and am very open to information on this. I do not support gun or any weapon control but I do not see the need for automatic weapons except for military use in combat. I am looking forward to talking with you and all your inputs.
I AM LOOKING TO SELL A WORLD WAR II JAPANESE SWORD ... THIS IS WHAT I HAVE FOULD OUT ABOUT IT ...
The translation is mostly correct, however, it was not made at the Okayama prison. That swordsmith, the warden, was named Emura, and he did sign Nagamitsu on some of them, but this is a different Nagamitsu. Yours is Ichiryushi, that was his art name, and he was commissioned by the army to make swords for the Osaka Arsenal.
Yours is Ichiryushi-Nagamitsu that was his art name,
The Hawley number for your sword's smith is NAG-296. The Okayama warden is EMU-1. Yours is in Slough's, page 124. (An Oshigata Book of Modern Japanese Swordsmiths 1868-1945)
This is a very good sword. Medium to High Grade Gendaito. That means 100% traditionally made, traditional ore and water tempered. And according to Slough's, these swords' cutting ability ranks among the best produced by showa period swordsmiths. .
What you have there is a late war officers pattern, commonly but erroneously referred to, even by collectors, as a "Naval Landing Forces" sword. It is the real deal, maybe oil tempered instead of water, just missing some parts, and the wrap. Looks like a nice enough blade, too, worth some effort and money to get it restored.
Hello All,
I'm a new member, so I'm doing the introduction piece.
Been in the US Army almost 20yrs, going to be retiring early next year.

good day eh. new to the forum. I have one m1 carbine a late war model. I bought it from my brothers father in law who is a U.S. Marine. He servered in Korea. I was issued a M1 when i joined the air force in 1966 in was in the air police and was a security guard at a SAC base. Always like the rifle, always fired stright and true.
Just a quick Hi from up North, depending on where you live.
9 years in the reserves so the FN C1A1 is my first love.
But seeing as we can't buy them I went the closest I could.
Russian sks '53 and my newest a Polish M44 '54.
Hi all!
Just "rediscovered your site, my interest in P14/M17 Enfields.
Hello! I have just signed up with this forum. I live in a small town about 60 miles SW of Houston, Texas. I am new to the world of collecting military rifles.
I purchased a new, never-fired, Lee-Enfield .303 at a gun show in Houston this past January. It is a No. 4, MK 2, Serial # UF 55 A 5760. It has a never-used bayonet. I will try to upload some photos of the rifle later.
I would like to find an original manual for this rifle. A copy would be fine, too. Any suggestions where I might find one? Thanks!
Jeff Blair
Hi everyone..new member here.
Don't have a Garand yet but I'm hoping to make the 2 hour drive to Anniston and pick one out.
I've just started reading this forum so I'm not quite up to speed on the M1 but it looks like there's lots of info here and knowledgeable folks.
So anyway...just glad to be here!
Speedicut
Thanks for having me here
i hope i can be of service
Welcome hope you enjoy it !
G'day all,
Brand new and have something handed down that may be of interest. I've got what seems to be an authentic Lithgow No.6 Mk1 Jungle Carbine 'Experimental'.
The serial number is XP142 and all numbers match. It's in very good condition but the bore is quite dirty and needs a good clean. I had it initially appraised at a local gun store today and they got quite excited about it and said they wanted their local Enfield expert to have a look, but ballpark they said it was worth several thousands for a true collector, very rare.
Not sure if I want to sell it yet as it's an heirloom but am open to offers. My grandfather who handed it down to me was a kittyhawk/spitfire fighterpilot in the war, he must have acquired it along the way somehwere.
Obviously people will want photos, happy to send them to whoever wants them(for some reason I can't attach them directly to this post?? Each time I select the attachments icon it just brings up a blank popup window? Am I just a dickhead?)
Interested to hear peoples comments, the research I've done suggests that they are quite rare and most are in museums these days, is this true?
Hi all, I'm a new member. I found you while researching some WW1 era mills packs. I collect all manner of military stuff, swords, medals, badges and do some shooting. I look forward to posting some of my collection and helping answer some questions while asking a ton of my own.

Hello Everyone!
I have a few Milsurps I have purchased over the years. I liked the forum so I decided to Join up!
Hello All, from the beautiful Florida left coast. I really haven't collected on purpose but I do have a Type 38 Arisaka 6.5 Jap Rifle that I was given when I was about 14 or so. I believe I was told it was brought back from the Pacific by a great uncle but I can't verify that because anyone who would have known by now is dead. I use to hunt deer with it when I was younger but I haven't shot it in a while. I was also recently given a nice barrel and receiver of a US Model of 1917 Remington. Everything is intact and I'd really like to get a stock and the parts to make this a shooter again. Seems it was refit in WWII with a new barrel as it has an HS stamped under the front sight mount. I was told this means High Standard and is supposed to be particularly accurate. Thanks for a great forum. I really look forward to looking through the posts
Hi folks I am just stopping through to get help on verifing a scope I recieved from a family member. It has numbers all over the scope the main ones I reconize are( TEL STG. No32 MK.III ) under that is (O.S. 2039 A) and under that is ( AK&S No 22595 ) AND UNDER THAT .......1945.
The scope is in a metal box that the scope mount screws into. the box says (CASE,STG.TEL No8 MARK.l B.E LTD 1941. INSIDE IS A LABEL UNDER THE LID HAND WRITEN ON HOW TO ADJUST THE POSTION OF THE GRADUATED SCALE RINGS ON L1a1 teles.
The scope has a leather strap with 2 leather caps to cover the opticals.
Any idea what the value would be. It weighs a ton and the optics are crisp.

Evening gents, glad to be a member and seeker of milsurp truth, especially as regards Garands, Carbines and big ol' pre-war Colt and Smith service revolvers.
As a matter of fact, I like it all--who am I kidding?
Hello
I am a new member and a new Garand owner. I just bought my first Garand, a June 1943 vintage ser# 1694XXX. It is all SA mixed GI with the exception of the release button (PB), barrel (VAR), bolt (WRA -1) and the front hand grip (PB). My thinking is this is an ex GI Danish rifle that was returned to the CMP in the 1990's. Will it increase the value or decrease the value to replace the mixed SA GI parts with the correct vintage 1943 parts?
Hi Fred Man here first time on MS Iam shooting in a vintage military bolt gun match this weekend and I plan on using a k 31 with privy ammo any comment?
hello my names christianand i enjoy collecting ak platforms rifles and well as shooting them! i also enjoy ww2 era weapons and cold war era.!

Hi all,
Had a login for quite a while. Mostly read posts, I have been dabling in M-1 Garands (13 at last count), 1903a1, m1 carbine, m1a, 1911, and the usual modern stuff. Keep up the good work.
Cheers
Hello everyone. I want to start off by saying that I love this website. It is chock full of information.
I have to admit, I took Rick B's "cartouche" test and failed miserably… Two out of ten… but, that is why I'm here!
I'd like to tell you that I will add some useful knowledge, but, I can't. I'll probably ask some dumb questions instead… So please bear with me and pass the knowledge on to a willing admirer and collector of military guns.
Thanks,
Ron
I may know some of you from around the various gun boards, but for those I don't, hi. I'm Jay, and I own a little home-based gun shop in Waverly, TN called Attic Arms (all the best guns come out of Grandpa's attic around here). Basically like most people, I grew my hobby into a legitimate business, got my license, and here I am.
My personal main interest in is vintage sniper rifles (and clones of them), but also pretty much all milsurp-type firearms. Here's a few that I have at the moment:
https://www.milsurps.com/images/impo...1/08/012-1.jpg
The top one is a real 03A4 that I got from a pawn shop. Bubba got ahold of it first though, so I am trying to get it back into correct shape. The next one is a Remington M40 build that is based off an original 1966 receiver that has been clip-slotted, and as many correct parts as I can gather. It should be a pretty accurate clone once finished. The last one is also a clone; this one of an XM-21 sniper rifle based off a 1994 Springfield Armory, Inc. M1A and using all USGI parts including an original AR TEL scope.
Greetings, all! I have started collecting Lee Enfields, and so far have a No 1 Mark III*, a No 4 Mark I*, and a Long Lee No 1 Mark I, although that one is a Khyber Pass special that has been bent, folded, spindled and mutilated. I have enjoyed researching the Lee Enfields, and have racked up a considerable collection of books by Ian Skennerton, and some DVDs about take down and smithing Lee Enfields.
On the reenacting side, I am part of a group that portrays a Scottish regiment in the British Army, the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. The group's website is here: Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders .
I look forward to learning from, and contributing to this forum! Thanks, all.
Hello. My husband, a VietNam combat vet, has a Winchester M1 carbine that is missing its rear sight. He doesn't remember where he obtained the carbine, but thinks it may have been while he was working for the U.S. Government in Central America. In any case, I have the serial number of the carbine, it's in the 1137XXX series. Can anyone tell me the age of this carbine? I found an M1 Garand with our serial number that was manufactured in 1942, but I'm not clear on the Garand vs. Winchester branding.
My main reason for writing is to get advice on what rear sight to put on this carbine. Hubby's housebound due to lung disease, but I shot the carbine (without a rear sight!) and did OK. Just a slightly bruised cheek, and I knew something wasn't right with the gun!
I'm kind of an OEM-type girl, so ideally, I would want a sight that would have been originally on this carbine. Can one of you experts give me some advice on what I should mount as a rear sight on this carbine, and where I might find one? At the same time, I'm not a gun collector, and don't want to spend a fortune, so I welcome comments on what I should install.
Thanks a lot. AnnieO

Hallo everybody,
I'm Claudio from Firenze, Italia, I have an interest in firearms (expecially ex military) and knives of all description (fixed, modern folders, vintage and antiques), I expecially appreciate Sheffield's golden years classics.
I reload several calibers and have a good setup. Currently I'm looking for a mint Enfield N°4 and an Argentinian Mauser also in pristine conditions. I reload the .303 B using 174 gr FMJ bullets and IMR 4350 powder but would like to know if someone has ever used Lovex S-060-02 (I use it for .308 W with 147 to 155 gr FMJ).
All the best, Claudio
This is the tool that was supplied with original Colt Paterson (produced 1836-1842) black powder revolver: the pin attached to the ball with ring was used to clean nipples that the key that screwed in thye ball itself was intended to unscrew (the nipples), the *** of spade shaped device was a sgrewdriver and, inserted in the slot of the cylinder axis (that served to fix the barrel with a wedge) worked as a piston to force the ball in the cylinder for loading.
Visit ubertireplicas.com to see a photo of the revolver and, maybe of the tool.
Best regards, Claudio

Hello,
I just love shooting my M-1 Garand and have come here to learn more about the rifle. The amount of knowledge on this forum is impressive. Thanks for having me.
Hello Middle Virginia here. Decided to learn more about milsurps after the usual bunch of M1Garands M1 carbines and springflieds, Fin m39 and a MN sniper looking forward to the Swiss and Swedes and reloading for them all. Would appreciate info from anyone as I am just learning
also have Broomhandle and Luger.
1898 Krag
1903 Springfield
1917 Enfield
Garands
M1 Carbine
Also have repro Henry, Spencer, 1873 Winchester Musket, Colt SAA's and S&W Schofields. (Guess you can tell I am into Cowboy also).
Going to be searching for info on one Garand I picked up a couple of years ago. It is a Springfield "Tanker" with SN 7002xxx. So far, can't find any info on that SN range.
I jumped into the milsurp world early last year with a few nice SKS rifles but have now become more serious about collecting and have turned my interest mainly to early Mausers. I have three in my new collection and I'm doing research on potential rifles to add. It's great fun and I think that this will be a life long hobby.
Best regards
Hello everyone
I'm a small gun collector. I collect military arms and top break S&W, Colt semi autos, Iver Johnson top break. Thanks forallowingg me to join.:D::clap:
Hi everyone,
Very new to collecting rifles, but found some very interesting information/photos on the SMLE Siamese rifle here thanks.
I have a 1920 ShtLE (Short Lee-Enfield) Wild Tiger Corps No.1 MkIII* Rifle
(Mfg by BSA - Birmingham Small Arms - Serial # 2260), with a non-matching wild tiger corps bayonet serial # 9968.
On the very remote chance someone has my matching serial bayonet I'd be happy to swap!!
Hi Everyone, I bought a BSA No.4 Mk1T 1944 in 2009 and I'm hoping someone can tell me about it if possible. I see the 1944 serial numbers do not list a letter D prefix . My serial # is D36701. Gun pictures are on the way just as soon as I can figure out how to send them. This Site really has a ton of information on it ! Toledo Bob

Hi all,
New here. Been shooting & collecting since '84. Have some US military arms (not much) 1955 HRA M1 Garand, 1944 Ithaca 1911a1 and recently acquired a 1944 Std Pro M1 carbine and Arisaka T2 paratrooper. Aim to learn quite a bit here. Thanks!
Hi, I'm new here. Having recently purchased an M1 Garand (finally) I've found this site helpful in many ways. A former Marine, I've alway had a love and respect for the battle rifles and look forward to learning from others along the way. Thanks
I found this site searching for information on old military rifles. I had no idea what some of the ones I had actually were and this site answered almost all my questions! I've been interested in guns all my life and love to go shooting anytime I can though here in Texas it has been horribly hot which keeps the shooting to morning hours where I have to deal with the sun directly in our eyes... but still anytime at the range is a good time! I got my FFL in 1993 but had to give it up when I began work as an nuclear independent contractor in 2003. Being the lone ranger with his gun interests in this house, I just couldn't keep the license any longer. I have all my reference material, retained my gunsmithing tools, and am beginning to get back into full swing with it again. We'll see where it goes this time!
I like to keep things original and am looking for a variety of things that are missing from my collection: slings, stripper clips, magazines etc. I have a few oddities that I hope the members of this site can help me with too.
And yes, I would certainly make any sales available to site members before taking it public!
I had started a newsletter when I was running MOAA Sports Club and found that chatting and emailing gun stuff was a favorite pass time.
Lets talk some guns here!

Hi to all on the forum, there are some very interesting threads out there!!
Hello to Everyone
I am interested in various vintage military ammo, mostly AP.
Hope to gather more info and knowledge here on this forum.
Greetings
I recently acquired a Lee Enfield No 4 MK II made in Fazackerley, Liverpool in 1955. The rifle was in pristine unused condition. All of the serial numbers matched including the bayonet and the beech wood is entirely unmarked. I have since put 20 rounds through it at the range and have been amazed at its formidable accuracy, (nothing to do with me.) I paid $250 for it, is that good or bad? Unfortunately, I am now hooked!!
Hi All, just found this site. Love to learn from you about older military guns.
Found this site while searching for some information on ammunition for my M1 Garand. This really looks like an interesting site. Glad to be here.
Hello all,
Just joined up, looks like a great forum! found it while looking up info on a couple of milsurp rifles. Just recently have gotten back into this fun hobby of collecting.
Hello to all Forum members. At last I have found the time in my life to pursue what has been a passion of mine for many years. Lee Enfields. I've just recently acquired a 1914 BSA SthLE Mk.111. What I know is going to be only the first of many Enfields to come. In my search for information on Enfields I discovered this Forum. So I thought I better introduce myself. I'm a Shooting, Deer Hunting, Motorcycle riding middle aged Aussie bloke. I'm blown away by the amount of information on this site, and i can see that I'll be spending a lot of time here. Regards to all.
mungo.
Hi , just wanted to introduce myself. I'm an old pharmacist (say real close to retirement age!) I've had my C&R for several years now (and several credit card extensions!). Hope to learn a lot from you folks because your never too old to do that. Thanks.
Hi,
Interested in American rifle contracts in America during the First World War
Hi all,
I'm new- I collect World War One Allied contract rifles as made in America. This includes the Mosin-Nagants, Berthiers, Rolling Blocks, Winchester M1895, Savage M1899, Pattern 1914 Enfields , M1894 Winchesters, and M1889 Belgian Mausers
Hey Everyone,
I just bought my first rifle two weeks ago; an Enfield no1 markIII*, and I would say I have definitely been bitten by the bug.
The more I learn about Enfields, the more it seems I may have over-paid by just a few dollars, but that doesn't bother me. What I am worried about is the fact that I keep spending close to or over $100 on the range on ammo...and it goes a little too quickly.
I would love any advice you have on where/how to get some decently priced .303 ammunition for an SMLE in bulk, so I can buy it once and head back to the range...
thanks
Hi all,
I have an assortment of milsurp stuff ranging from Krags to 03's to Swedes, a bunch of M1's and a pair of No4Mk1(T)'s and an L42A1.
I'm also a mod on a NFA forum using this same screen name.
Joined the forum tonight and just wanted to say hello to everyone. Started collecting firearms and reloading for them since the early 60's. Bought a 310 cadet that is a takedown model around 1970. Have seen the value of the 577-450 M-H's continually go up over the years so figured it was now or never, so I ordered a MK IV from IMA last Friday. I want to learn as much as I can about both rifles, and I believe that I have come to the right place.
I want to thank everyone in advance for the wealth of knowledge that has been shared on this forum.
-Harold

Hi everyone!
I just joined and to put it simply, I'm nuts about all types of guns.
hey everyone, im new to this stuff so just wanted to say hi
Hi everyone. My meager amount of milsurps has become a collection. Just getting started reloading and in my quest for brass stage of the hobby.
Hello, I usually go by dpenn64, been into guns since i was 8, got a 410/22 then, almost 40 years later still have it, been collecting pistols and long guns ever since, don't have a massive amount of guns, but do have a few, single shots to .308 cetme, so thats pretty much it, thanks, dp4. :thup
Hello, I think i posted but in case I didn't, I have been into guns since i was 8 when i got my first one, Savage 410/22, been into them ever since, almost 40 years, have a few not as many as i would like, but enuff to hold off a small revolution, laff! dp4.
Hello, Not computer savy, but might be able to operate it, i am new, need info, and like all kinds of long guns and pistols, Thanks.
Hello, New member, new to posting, look forward to learning, Thanks.
Hi there, Gabe from Australia, new to gun dealing and look forward to getting some experienced advice with US markings!
Hello to all Milsurp fans!
Interested by the Lee-Enfields. Own 2 No 1's sporters. Hoping to eventually own a no4 in good original condition. I started reloading for these rifles hoping to improve accuracy. ( 4 to 5 inches at 100 meters with commercial ammo )
Greetings all. New member on this forum, been lurking for awhile but family and work issues being what they are, Ive not yet posted. Brief intro: 60 yr old cauc male, POB Detroit, now in southern Colorado since early 1970s. Been into firearms and sharp things for as long as I can remember, fired first rifle at age 7 and no lookin back. C&R, modest collection, mainly focussed on Mausers. Enjoy pistols and revolvers and have owned a wide selection over the years, both collector stuff and duty weapons. Have a 10 yr old son who follows in Dad's tracks, IF he can get his "stuff" together and keep it together! He certainly would like to have my toys, but as I remind him, I ain't dead YET! Have worked in various aspects of the justice system and have a degree in same. Im the guy who has used or owned quite a few weapons but rarely goes to the range- "having" is more important than shooting- this has gotten more pronounced as age sets in! Still have the first guns I fired (my Dad's) Mauser bring-back ww2 8mm, and a 16 gauge Marlin pump that is over 100 yrs. These rarely see any activity cause there is more modern stuff in the armory.
Also enjoy street-bikes, reading, history, "action" and horror movies and playin on the computer.
Newbie Here. Long Time US Military Shotgun collector. Have Stevens 520-30 Trench for sale. 98%-99% all original minty specimen. What is it worth?
hello all. new member here. i mainly "collect" mosins, but just acquired 2 new rifles in a trade(6.5mm swedish mauser, steyr mannlicher m95) and needed some info and parts. during my search i found this website. glad to be here but, sadly, this surplus rifle business seems to be addictive.
I am interesred mainly in the M1 Rifle and Carbine. I recently sold my FN-49 .30 cal which was one of only 203 sniper models ever made for the Belgian Army. I am interested in reloading as close as possible to military specifications for both the .30 rifle and carbine.
I am a Michigan resident and I've been collecting Military Arms since my teens. My primary interests have been British and U.S. single-shots and bolt actions. My current interest has been U.S. Krags and some handgun shooting. A new project I've taken on is cleaning up a Berthier Model 1916 Artillery Carbine. It is the 5 shot model and was made by Est. Constinouza in 1918. There is a problem with the follower mechanism in that the lower spring with roller is not in contact with anything. I suspect it is missing a small part or plate that the lower spring (with roller) bears against. This must be held in place by the screw that holds the front of the magazine extension to the front of the trigger guard assembly. I'd appreciate any description or photo of the missing part and suggestions of where I might get a replacement. Thanks
G'day from WA
Dave told me about this forum today at a service rifle shoot. I was having trouble with keyholing in my 310 cadet - a BSA. Was trying a new load 4.5gns Trail Boss, Federal small pistol primers 122gn .316 dia Hawkesbury River projies. Some rounds were fine - about 1 in 4 were tumbling. Any ideas please?

hello all, just trying to find some info. on the net and came across this site. glad to be here.
Just wanted to give a shout out to all of you here on the forum and give a quick intro. I'm a longtime military rifle collector, especially interested in British, American, German, and French military antiques and modern weapons circa 1860-1960. I do find that I seem to be currently focusing my collection on Martini-Henrys and Lee-Enfields, but I do appreciate a lot of the other designs as well.
I'm also an Honorably Discharged US Army Veteran (M1A1 Tanker), Microbrew Beer afficiando, Historically correct Western-traditional Swords/Bayonets collector, PS3 Silent Hill Series fanatic, and a History buff, esepeically anything to do with Ancient Egypt.
So...Cheers!
