Hello everyone. I am new to this site. Found it totally by accident. Looks like a lot of good info available. Hope I can learn more about our military history from the site and members. Maybe I can be of some help too.
I'm an old guy but a new member. Just got into milsurps after recently retiring. I'll be doing much more listening than talking. I have much to learn.
Hi, everyone!
I just signed up, this is my first contact message.
I have been collecting bolt action military rifles fro some 30 years. Am partial to Mausers, but have to admit my all-time favorite is the French MAS 36.
I hope everyone on the forum had a great Christmas and have hopes of a better New Year! Like most of ya'll I love old & new firearms, military & otherwise. i found the site by accident some months back while researching a Garrand I had picked up at a show. Thanks for all the info and interesting conversation.
Just dropped in to say hello, I enjoy old Military firearms and would like to expand my collection as well as my knowledge.
Hey Gang,
Another CGN'er over here for a visit. Hope to learn something new and meet some other like minded people.
Hello all! I just discovered this forum and am excited about what I see. I usually hang out in the CMP Forums under the same username and I can see I already have spoken with several of you over there.
I have recently started to collect military surplus firearms, mainly a few pieces I have purchased from the CMP. I also have a small variety of various foreign surplus rifles and will be purchasing a Mosin-Nagant rifle in the near future since I just obtained a C&R.
I look forward to learning from all of you here.
Hi all
Bobfortier here. I have 2 Lee Enfield, one 1918 No 1 and one 1942 Longbranch No 4. I am a stockmaker, so I built stocks for both of them.
I also reload for my 303, had good success so far, but there is room for improvement.

Hi all, caplock here. Just joined the group. Started collecting when I was 14 year old. Now 73. Just getting started, now that I retired, to ID and catalog the stuff I "accumulated". I will be asking questions and perhaps post some photos of the "stuff". The majority of the firearms I have collected are associated with the Civil War area, however, WWII items have also been obtained. Thanks in advance for your assistance, caplock
Hi all. I just joined this site because I need some info about a knife/sword thats part of an estate I'm trying to settle. I'm assuming its CW Era due to the fact the owner of the estate was a CW Buff. Looking forward to sharing with you all.
Hi My Name Is Bob and I'm a Gunoholic:rolleyes:. Nice forum you guys got here I'm sure I'll enjoy it here. Thank to all that make these forums happen. PS I'm also bobc over on gunnutz.

Hi, my name is Del and I'm new to the group, so here's a bit of an intro.
I collect mostly Canadian Militaria and focus on 1 Can Para related and RCAF items. I do dabble in EBay sales and military surplus so you may see me on line hawking extras occasionally.
Presently I'm searching for M1 helmet liners at a good price and large volume if possible.
It is always better to be safe than sorry. I am a retired retired armourer and Canadian Veteran. Hello and I would like to say I enjoy this site.
TomD here, I 've been on your forum before but got lost in the shuffle, so hello again!
Hello, I have just been shown several WWI & WWII Weapons that a very nice widow would like to sell and I look forward to learning more about them. This Forum was recommended to me as the best around for information on the weapons and their value.
Best regards and Happy New Year to all
Great site, I just came across a 1950 C no4 MK1* It seems to be in pretty good shape. Did notice the trigger pull was off (just barley touched it and it would fire) also I noticed when cocking it would fire when putting the bolt forward (not all the time). I found the thread on the trigger mechanics and pulled every thing apart and cleaned the grease etc. Put it back together and seems to work better. I think it still needs some fine tuning. I have fired it about 10 timesat 50yrds with the normal sights. Off just a little of center. I plan to get a scope and mount here and lots of other goodies.
Hello everyone. I was checking out some of the threads on here and found it to be an interesting community. Thanks for letting me join.
Hi all, I'm new to using forums but not new to collecting Military weapons. My intrest has been mainly US military battle rifles. I have all of the usual, and I shoot them all. My next goals are to put together a represenitive rifle from each of the major powers of WWII. I have the US covered naturally, I'm lacking France (as if they were a major power), Itally, and Japan. I'm not looking for high end perfect condition, but honest, straight military as issued, good safe shooters. I prefer a rifle that "Saw the Elephant" to one that was never issued.
My other collecting intrest is in lend lease guns, both wars. I wish guns that tell the lend lease story, as that story needs told, and so few know it. If you can help with my goals, I'd be glad to hear from you.
I take folks on shooting history lessons. You should consider doing the same. I take up to 4 people at a time. I have a rifle from each of America's major wars. As we shoot them, I tell how and when they were used, how they were an improvement on what came before, their strengths and weeknesses. It is great fun and folks learn a lot. We shoot a Flint Lock Kentucky Long rifle through an AR-15 and all inbetween. I'll be interested in what you have to say. Out
Have been collecting for several years. I reload for all my military rifles, would be intersted in hearing about your reloading experiances.
hello came here looking for a 1903a3 receiver any suggestions?
Hi, I'm from Denmark and have been here for about a month or so. I found this great site when looking for information regarding my US M1917 rifle.
Besides my M1917 (Eddystone) I also have a Swiss K-31 and a Norwegian Mauser K98k in 30-06, all of which I use regulary.
Hi guys, new to your site but looks preety good from what ive seen. What do i shoot, well i havnt fired it yet, this Friday is the day. Its a 1915 lithgow 303, pretty excited about shooting it but nervous it doesnt blow up in my face at the same time. Looking forward to learning heaps of you guys.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
I'm new to collecting - I've just got an MN 91/30 for a start. Not interested in making money, just the history. I've got a dumb noobie question - How far can you go to clean up a historical piece before you ruin it? Will attemping to clean up a dirty barrel ruin the piece? How about electrical derusting? Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

hello every one happy new year
I am a new member, though I have owned a 1918 no1 mk3* that a friend gave me about 20 years a go. I am a nurse and have made friends with a gentlemen patient who was a sniper in Okinawa in WWII. Listening to his stories got me thinking about "That old rifle my friend gave me." Dug it out of mothballs (not literally) and started researching on the internet. I have learned a lot in the past month. Thanks to everyone who shares knowledge on here.
Greetings and Happy New Year to everyone. Casual shooter, but have owned a firearm of one type or another since I was about 12.
Hello to all:
This is my first post to the public forum, so I thought I'd submit a controversial post.
When I was in the Seabees in 1965, during my rifle training with the M14, we were taught NOT to shoot to kill, but rather to shoot at the belt buckle of the enemy soldiers in order to severely WOUND them.
The theory behind this was that a dead enemy was simply one less enemy combatant, while a severely wounded enemy took at least one OTHER enemy soldier out of the fight to care for his wounded comrade. Also, large numbers of enemy wounded was a drain on their medical supplies and medical personnel as well as contributing to lowered morale and dissatisfaction with continued fighting.
I've spoken to other veterans who never heard of this.
How about it, were any other vets that were taught to shoot to wound rather than shoot to kill?
Greetings and happy new year i'm new at military suplus collector game like any gun from any time. Collector of pistols and now a new owner of a beligum fn fal. Tool and die maker by trade and custom knife make hobbist.
Just signed up on Milsurps.com as it appears this forum will provide alot of information. I've been collecting and working on many military rifles over the years and am anxious to gather info from this site. I'm fond of Mausers, Krags, Springfields, and Martini's. Best, Dan
Hi ALL I'M new here! :dancingbanana:

Hello from Michigan. I am International Harvester Collector Association of Michigan founding member #9 (my farm tractor collection Is Graced with an M52A2 military tractor truck made by International Harvester in 1962). I am the proud husband to a devoted wife and Father of 9, children not tractors. I am owner to way more military surplus"junk" than my wife likes, same as most of you I "reckon". I have held the same job for 27 years, helps pay the bills...but there's never enough! Now if only all this surplus junk brought in dollars instead of costing them ! Never seems to work out that way !
New to the forum but have gotten a tremendous amount of info from reading the threads.
Hello everyone.
I have acquired a Webley mk1 revolver that is missing a few parts, I was wondering if anyone has a technical drawing or exploded view of the guns workings. There is very little info about them and any help would be great. Thanks
New to the site but I've been collecting and shooting military rifles for the past twenty or so years. I've got a fondness for semiautos, new and old, but lately I've found myself looking at more older bolt rifles. I love the history behind and the shooting of all my pieces.
Just an introduction post. I am interested in Browning A5's.
Hi. I'm Terry and live in Oklahoma. I've just started in this hobby of antique weapons, and trying to learn as much as possible. Been shooting and reloading all my life, but collecting is new. Thanks for the opportunity to join the forum, and hopefully, one of these days, I can contribute and give back a little. Right now though there is so much excellent information that I've just started reading.
Thanks to everyone involved, really appreciate it.
Hello,
I'm a new member just signing in. I've been monkeying with surplus rifles for decades. A pal put me on to this site.
I have an old Martini Enfield carbine, purchased from Century Arms some years back. They sold it to me as a .303 British. It's some sort of Kyber Pass redo or such. My pal discovered that it is not chambered for the .303 Br, but some sort of cartridge resembling a .32 Win Special. The bore is ~.321" and the length from the rim to the bottom of the shoulder is ~1.4".
Does anyone know of a possible cartridge that might fit the bill. I'm looking in my books but haven't had any luck yet. Maybe it's some sort of home-brewed odd-ball that was local to where the little carbine was?
Any helpwould be most appreciated.
Best Regards, Mike Bever

Hello all
New collector with no experience but interested in ww2 arms
Hi I'm John. I'm fairly new to collecting (2008) and have a C&R license. (What a process!) I have three Enfields, quite a few Mausers, some complete  , a couple of Mosin Nagant 91/30's, a couple of Carcano's, antique shotguns and muskets. My favorite piece is the 71/84. I also enjoy primitive archery and other primitive wilderness skills. This seems like a knowledgeable group, so I'll try not to ask any real dumb questions.
Hello Everybody! New guy here. I've just started to collect military surplus rifles last year. I own a 1959 Lee Enfield Mark 4 No 1/2, 1942 Mosin Nagant and a late 30 series Arisaka. I look forward to learning from everyone here!
Hi everyone,I'm Mark just registered today, trying to find my way around.Started collecting Springfield bolos/ hospital bolos.Looking for sheaths and scabbards
I'm in the process of restoring an old M1917 that i bought back in '64, from a surplus store, here in Utah for the price of $30. like everyone at the time I took it home and striped it of all the top wood and cut the stock of at the second clamp. I'm now thankful I didn't mill it down like all my bud's. I liked the peep sight and got my deer the next week. I picked up a choped one and am restocking it.
Good Morning everyone. I'm new to the site, just found it while trying to find a value on my 1944 General Motors M1A1 Carbine, with bayonet and scabbard. the weapon is in excellent condition. I found it in a pawn shop in Portsmouth Virginia about 30 years ago. Glad I found this site.
Hey guys ...Just wanting to say hi . New to the site but i am a budding gunsmith and here to learn.. The only older rifle i have now is my Ishapore Enfield that i and doing work too.
I just registered after being led to the site by google. The lposted video on reassembling the firing pin on the yugo M 57 is just what I needed. When I was firing it today, several times I had to recock the hammer. I've only put about 75 rounds through it including milsurp, commercial and handloads and have never had the problem before. I cleaned the boltface and pushed the pin forward and cleaned around it but was hesitant to disassemble any further until this video. Thanks.
First time member long time collector..
Hello Everyone...

Hi everyone! New to this site, but not to military firearms. I have been collecting for many years. Due to my last divorce and some other hardships I had to let a rather extensive collection of US military firearms go.
Bummer, but life goes on.
I have been focusing on revolvers lately and just started to get back into some military stuff. I doubt if I'll ever get back into it at the former level, but you never know. Anyway, that's all for now and I am going to post a couple of pictures in the appropriate sub forums in a little while.

Hello everyone, very happy to be a new member. Ofcourse I have a few military rifles and am constantly looking for more information on them. Thanks in advance!
Found this forum and read some posts about bolt headspace from some very knowledgeable people that helped me along in understanding the use of gauges with regard to that. Hope to read here and learn more about all types of things.
Just wanted to say hi, as I am looking at your interesting forums- look forward to finding some new information here.

I'm especially interested in 7.65 semi-auto pistols and early bolt action rifles. jsewell

Howdy...just joined after accidentally finding your site  I belong to a number of gun related forums and enjoy reading and participating in these. I look forward to incorporating this site into my daily routine. I am retired after 42 years working in the education field as a teacher, administrator, and consultant. I am also retired from the US Army Reserve.
I have a number of weapons including 7 SKS's (Yugos, Russian, Chinese, and Romanian), 9 Finnish M-39's, 2 91/59's which I've been told are not commonly found, 4 very nice M-38's, and four Makarovs. My wife tells me that this makes me an old "junk" collector :yikes: but we know better, don't we.
My current hobbies include browsing internet gun and related forums, reading historical fiction and biographies, working and/or firing my guns, and my family especially my grandkids.
Look forward to becoming and active participant
Thanks for allowing me to be part of this great forum of freedom loving patriots.
This great site has already been good to me. I've enjoyed perusing the outstanding Posts, with their wealth of valuable information. I also very much enjoy the occasional "Funny" offered up by those whose sense of humor is out of control. I'm glad to be here with you all. Thanks for having me. Sonny B, Oak Hill, WV, USN, Retired
Hi to everyone, glad I found this forum. I'm interested in anything military, have a 1903 Springfield, 1920 build date best I can tell, an M1 Carbine and a M1A. I have two Enfield MKIII's, one I scoped with an
old Redfield, have yet to get out and try it.
Obviously, there is a Garand size hole in my little collection. Just joined the Garand organization so I can buy from CMP, and learn a lot more about Garands, but would rather find one from a group like this, maybe with a little history.
We'll see.
I also build guitars and used to build engines for 911 Porsches but the back won't let me
spend much time crawling around cars so I'm concentrating on my limited gunsmithing
abilities and building a guitar or uke every now and then. I would really like to trade an
old Martin guitiar for a Garand but I suppose that's a stretch, finding someone willing to
part with such a rifle.
I finish stocks mostly, and use a variety of finishes. I like old shellac and have recently found
a new type of shellac that holds up to moisture where the old "french polish" technique was more appropriate for instruments than stocks and grips. I often shoot Nitrocellulose lacquer, it will hold up and is easy to repair and can be polished out to a high gloss if
desired. Oiled finishes as well.
Thanks for letting me in, I've been enjoying the comments and discussions for a while, thought I should say hello.

New to forum ...currently restoring my father's Lee Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1/2 that was purchased in the 60's from a barrel at Sears. Dad cut down the forestock, replaced the butt stock, threw away the rest of the wood, tapped the receiver for s scope, and when the scope didn't fit right, cut one of the clip ears off. I'm currently replacing everything and repairing everything but the ear. Her name....we call her Ugly Bess.
Thanks in advance for the knowledge I have and will obtain with this site!
Warm regards,
Don
I've lurked here for years, but would like to introduce myself and post questions and comments. If you watch the History Channel, H2 (History International), the Military Channel, or Shooting USA on the Outdoor Channel, chances are you've seen my mug as a talking head or shooting a classic firearm. I am particularly keen on military weapons, but also enjoy "Western" firearms. I cast my own ball and reload a bit. I'd like to see the Lewis Gun get it's own area.
Cordially,
Dave Stieghan

Greetings to all of you out there in milsurp land! Just joined this forum in hopes of finding information and possibly some parts for a couple older pieces I have aquired of late. Currently I am trying to find a replacement stock, hand guards, etc. for a 1898 Krag. A previous owner cut the stock off just in front of the middle band. I would like to find used parts so they would sort of match the patina. Anyway, good to know there are like minded folks out there to communicate with.

Hi everyone. I'm new to the Milsurp forum, but I believe I've bought things at this site before. I live in Wyoming, work in the oilfied. Served in the Marine Corps for 4 years and the Wyo. National Guard for 4 yrs while in college. The M-1 Garand is my favorite rifle but I own all the WWII rifles except the Carcano(maybe someday, but I doubt it). The knowledge I can gain here will be appreciated and shared( 2 sons who are gun nuts like their dad). Thank You
