Hi I am a brand new member starting to get more info about m1911a1 being an owner of a great Ithaca 1943
Hello,
New member with a new passion for the history and use of military guns. I have been shooting since I was a child and getting more and more in to history. Just recently joining the two. I picked up a M1 Garand last Saturday and can't wait for the weather to clear so I can go shoot it. I've learned a lot from you guys already like the proper ammo to use in this beautiful rifle.
Cheers,
John
Hello all, I've lurked around the site for a while and finally got around to joining. I have a No4 Enfield that is currently in storage and it is a Fazerkly that I bought almost 20years ago with all numbers matching as well as the short bayonet with matching numbers. I'm currently thinking about finding myself a Jungle Carbine for deer hunting, can't be much of a hunter in Canada unless you used a .303 at some point or another.
Hi All,
New member! Found you guys while researching and learning about
some guns I've collected. Amazing archive and collection of knowledgeble gents!
Hoping to get your thoughts and share a special rifle that I'll post when I got a sec.
Long Branch 1943 NO.4 mk1*-No serial #/Presentation rifle ('45)
Hello everyone my name is Mike and I am a massive gun fan, Like most gun nuts I have my like and dislikes when it come to a weapon. My likes are military rifles bolt or semis. At present I have a couple of German rifles , US M16, FNH FS2000, and now am starting on a FAL or two or three. It all depends on when the wife gets wise to the new guns when it stops. I look forward to talking with some of you as I learn more about my passion.
Hello everyone, I am new to this Forum and the amount of detailed & quality communication on milsurps is very impressive. I have a modest collection of rifles that collected several years ago. I am looking forward to doing a deep dive into my collection and learning more.
Thanks,
Devin
Hi All! New member been collecting for over 40yrs.
Hi, new guy here. I own a few firearms, started looking at older ones now. My first milsurp is a CETME I got three years ago. I recently picked up a 1918 No.1 Mk III*, a Vz54/91, and an FN-49. This is my third or forth post, so it's kind of awkward. Anyway, nice forum, I'm on a few other forums too.

Hi to all.
User Name is HUSSON1945. Just joined today, 25 January 2012. Looking for information, buyers and traders. I am new to all this. Have lots of WWII stuff I need information on. Thanks
Collector, and a " Work on My stuff only Gunsmith" of Military firearms ranging from my 45-70 Springfield trap door to the AR-15 in an A2 configuration with quite a few in between from places over seas as well.
My next project will be to get the bugs out of my M1 Tanker (built on a Springfield receiver).
Then when I practice up on my TIG welding enough, I plan to Weld two different halves of a cut M1 Receiver into one again, then I will have a Winchester name on the receiver to build on. My best M1 is an International Harvester built in the same year and month I was born. Another M1 is the one I got from my DCM participation that was built early in WWII. My M1A (semi M-14) is built from a kit on a Springfield Armory receiver. I would love to get another M1 parts kit. If enough of us vote right, that might be possible.

Morning, it's a beatiful day in Houston, Texas. Last weekend of duck season. Bought a Henry 22 magnum rifle but the sights were bad, not adjustable except by unnatural force. I put a nice scope on it and it is one of my favorite shooters. Did anybody else have a problem with sights on Henry's? Have a great weekend. W. Lee
Delighted to become a member! I got first interested in Mauser rifles growing up in Argentina where we had to qualify (High School program in 1962 ) on the 1909 Argentine Mauser zeroed at 300 meters!
My interest is Enfields and other British small arms. Grandfather served in 12th Bn Royal Fusiliers in '15 to 18 WW1 and a great uncle flew with Bomber Command from '42 to 45 and a cousin saw active service in the Royal Marines in the 1960s, dad and my uncle both did National Service in the 1950s.
I am a lawyer, living in Royal Tunbridge Wells in south-east England.
New to the site, but not to the hobby. Love to buy, sell & trade military items & firearms.
Like to shoot guns both new and old. Hope rub elbows with some of you soon.

Hi Gang! I'm happy that I stumbled across this sight. I love old weapons and accessories that go with them. I have 8 WWll weapons and would enjoy learning more about them and see what else is out there. This looks like the place to be. Bill
Hi All, New to the site, interested in WW2 and Vietnam Era weapons and items. Have a great day all.
I am a newbe for sure. Interesting site and I appreciate the fine work done by all for everyone's benefit. Thanks Claven2 for the good pics of your Berthier carbine. Based on those and some internet research I just identified my own Berthier / Orman forestry carbine as 1916, Chatellerault, M-16 also converted 1948 with "N" Balle marking. Luckily I still have a 5 round charger and a spare 3 round charger along with an assortment of ammo ( 1935 thru 48 ) including what may be the armor piercing machine gun rounds so sought after. ;) I even have a small package of unopened 1939 rounds in the original paper with a string around it! Motivated by your's Claven2, I also took some pics of mine but I have to get around to posting them but haven't figured out how to yet. Mine is a beauty also and dear to my heart. A gun with some interesting history for sure. This is my only gun but if I could find some more good condition Manllicher Berthier's I would consider building a collection. Mine was courtesy of an old and now gone gunsmith friend of mine. The kids got all the old shotguns and usual normal stuff but I got the prize!
Love milsurp weapons, own too many but still not enough.
New guy here!
Hello everyone. I was told this is a good site for a military gun buff like myself. I have collected various military firearms over the years including the Colt 1911, Lugers, Enfields and Thompsons. The Thompson has been one of my passions since I was a boy.
Hi, I am a new member and love this forum. I love how you can hold a milsurp.rifle in your hand while watching your favorite War movie or documentary and feel a connection to the brave people of the past. Adam
Hi! I'm a VERY new member, joining to learn what I can about acquiring, if posssible, a deactivated Long Branch Sten gun. (I'm already in the process of getting a deactivated SMLE, and would really like a companion wall-hanger that would suit it.

Very happy to find forum, lots of info. Have had this hobby too many years.
Good morning,
I am trying to find my way around my enfield 7.62 and was pleased to find so much information on the site.
Afew weeks ago I was delighted to visit the Small arms school Museum and be shown round by Peter Laidler, many thanks Peter you made it so interesting!
I am now going to explore more on the site, bye for now.
I'm new to the forum and interested in the M1 Garand, M-14 and AR's.
Hello all:
I just signed up. I'm recently retired and i am picking up on my shooting hobby. I am currently interested in reloading for my Garands. I a few other rifles including 2 Enfields. One is Indian, 1948. That doesn't realyl count but it does have that great pugnacious look. Glad to be here!
Hello from NC!
At the request of my son I dug out my dads old. 303,and ss soon as I did the reality set in that I don't know squat about it. And as I researched it I ended up here. It's a 1943 Long Branch, the rear of the stock appears to be original but the front end appears to be possibly custom and a free float set up. The sights are not original (I don't think) and would like to put a scope on it. My dad killed numerous deer with this rifle and it's about the only thing I inherited when he passed. I would like to clean it up and pass it on to his grandson.
Any advice or suggestions are appreciated!
I am most pleased that I have just become a member of Milsurps.com and am so grateful to all the members who have posted vast amounts of information, photographs, technical diagrams and manuals etc. I am especially grateful to the member who so kindly uploaded the Hesketh-Prichard book "Sniping in France" (a subject which I am starting to find extremely fascinating since reading Martin Pegler's relatively recent book "Sniping in the Great War" which is also a very interesting book) - what an incredible mine of information I have found contained in this book written in 1919. This is a great site and I intend to regularly browse and refer to it just for the sheer enjoyment of reading anything and everything that is contained on it. Thank you very much indeed.
Hi All
I'm new to this forum but I have been lurking around CGN for awhile and seeing as I'm a volunteer with a military museum and my area of expertise is modern firearms in use by the CF, and the Lee-Enfield MK III and No4 I figured I had best get on a forum with a database and people who know more about the older firearms than myself
I just joined the forum and am looking forward to gaining more knowledge and passing on what I learn to others. I bought my first Lee Enfield (a No4 Mk1) a while ago and have truly caught the bug. Now, I'm after a No4 Mk2!
Cheers!
Hello Forum Members - Glad to be on board! Looking forward to increasing my knowledge of and appreciation for the miltaria.

New member from northern California. I just got my first garand and really enjoying it. I am also into the old .22 training rifles.
what a great site. a lot of knowledge here.
After collecting a mess of milsurps over the decades, and not really educating myself on them,I was sure glad to find this forum. I'm looking forward to "lurking and learning" from the forum's esteemed membership.
Hello everyone! Great site and looking forward to reading and researching for my new addiction!
hello
Hi all. I own some new state of the art firearms, but just can't pass by those wonderful masterpieces of yesteryear. Just can't learn enough about them and their history.

Hi everyone: I am really glad that I happened onto this website. I purchased eight No 4 Enfields years ago when they were $80-$100. I also bought two British No 7 22 rifles from Springfield Sporters in 2002. These rifles appear to be new unfired, unfortunately they are missing the front of the bolt, the 22 magazine insert, and the ejector. I ran across and ad from Navy Arms Company in the May 1, 1994 issue of the "The Shotgun News". This ad indicates they had for sale L42Al sniper rifles in the original shipping box for $795.00 and L39Al rifles without sights for $299.95. These prices seem low now but at the time were considered quite high. I look forward to participating in these forums in the future.
Hi been on here a little while and just found this thread. For me it started with a turkish mauser about ten years ago. Then the bug must have went dormant for a while but when it came back it done it with an attitude because I got it bad. Over the past two years it went from that old lonely mauser to no room in the safe and a wish list as long as my arm with no end in sight. I love these old veterans no matter where they came from. But my favorites are still the ones from the US. Great place for information I will be here regularly.
Good evening, I'm taking this opportunity at introduction so that I may use some of the features of this site. I am impressed by the exchange between members and the depth of knowledge shown. I hope I can access some of this as I draw some of the shooters and collectors that have been stored in my safe. I have some I'd like to learn more about. Now that I'm retired, I hope to do more shooting.
My primary interest is in military rifles and side-arms, from Civil War through WWI - through the 1903. I enjoy collecting large caliber revolvers from end of CW through WWI. My assortment is small, but I try for some better quality.
I am using a family name, a great grand uncle who spent most of the CW in the Iowa infantry, was slightly wounded at Kennesaw MT, but survived, was captured briefly but escaped. His mustering out paper states that he was released with SRM. Sadly no one knows where uncle Dan's Springfield Rifled Musket is!

Good afternoon, after a long time looking, I have acquired my first M1 Garand. I am looking to find out some more information on my weapon since it appears original and not refurbished, and also to validate information that we have found on this particular weapon. Thank you.:yikes:
I am interested in US military weapons, especially the sniper models. I own a 1903 A4 clone and parkerized some of the parts myself with a system I built from a stainless steel fire extinguisher tank and a 120volt heater element. I am hoping this site can provide informatuion on where to obtain leather scope covers.
In the future I hope to build a USMC sniper clone from a 1903 A1 and the new 8x Unertl scope from Leatherwood Hi Lux Optics.
Hey Folks,
Just new to the forum and thought I'd say hello. Looks like some pretty knowledgeable people here on Milurps. I am hoping to learn and share what I know. I'm interested in all types of Milsurps. I have a few Mausers both Spanish and Yugo. I am also into Swiss rifles and reloading for all. Great to be here.
Thanks,
JP

Hello everyone!
I'm sort of new but not new to collecting LOL
I am into British milsurps and American milsurps. Everything from the 1850's to WW2
My goal is to buy and sell parts as well as increase my knowledge.
Best regards to everyone here.
David
Hello to all; excellent site. I've always loved milsurps, for a number of reasons. But if for no other reason, I feel a real connection to the history - and the men - who carried these into combat. Then too, having more than one woman at a time is widely frowned upon - especially by one's devoted wife... but it's OK to love Krags, K-31s, the M1 (both of 'em), and of course the '03, all simultaneously.
Hello all,I`m not a collector, but I do have an assortment of old guns mostly milsurps.
I have a MKIII ross rifle that has occupied my thoughts of late.
Also, I cast bullets and load for most of the rifles I own.
I like to lurk on forums like this, there is a wealth of knowledge here.
Many thanks to all who contribute posts here:thup:
hi all, not a collector as such but i own a 1943 lee enfield 303 parker hale sporter. (was`nt my first choice but it shoots well and scratches that itch so it will do for now:)). i have a long seated interest in military firearms and lee-enfields in particular. the forum looks like an interesting place to spend some time with some very knowledgable people.
regards, david.

New member - bought my first (of likely many) Mosin 91/30 yesterday and stumbled here searching for info on dissembling the bolt.
I have a fascination with anything old, and I think I may have found a new thing to collect with my old cars.

New member enfield8 here making first post.
Not sure why it's taken me so long to get onto milsurps since it's an awesome resource.
I've owned surplus rifles and competed in combined service competition for a couple of decades. I'm passionate about Enfields - have one each of SMLE, No 4 and L8, but have lately diversified into Swedish Mausers and also the very entertaining 310 Cadet rifle.
Hello all. I've been away for a long time and am coming back not under the best conditions. The current economy and having been unemployed for 3 years is forcing me to sell some of my collection. I have looked at the "Want to Sell" tab but I'm wondering if there are any suggestions as to a better place. I have a few CMP M1's, '03's and several target and civilian guns to sell. Times are tough and it pains me greatly to do this so any suggestions would be appreciated. I hope to get top dollar.
Thanks,

Hi Everyone! Greetings from Australia. My name's Dan. I'm not exactly a new member but have never posted on this forum. It's great tor read all the threads as I have learned so much from you all. I'm in the process of accurising my old 1942 Mk1 No111 Lithgow .303, so I was glad to read of the new book that's been released on this very topic. Anyway, I'll let you know how I go. At the moment, my rifle shoots all over the place no matter what range, since the fore end timber split on it some months ago. I've put new timber on but I think the bedding is all wrong. Cheers. Dan

Hello everyone. Newbie here. I live in northern va. and work in, dare I say, DC. I enjoy shooting my mausers, enfields, M1 Garand and SKSs. Have just come into possession of a strange looking Enfield action with Parker Hale T4 barrel. Trying to figure out what it is. All sights are missing, will need to replace (if this rifle is worth it). Looking forward to participating here.

Howdy from the state of OK! Name's Ken, I recently found a .303 Enfield for sale locally and found this site trying to research the .303 caliber and Enfield. I don't have any Mil guns, but I'm thinking hard of getting this Enfield! I'm going to turn 19 this April and have always loved any gun with a Mil history to it. I think I'll stick around and do some more research on Enfield so expect some questions!

Greetings from sunny Queensland.
I am originally from Saskatoon, leaving Canada many years ago for another life 'down under'.
I started collecting military rifles back in Canada, and I still do it here to a degree, even with the rather draconian/retarded gun laws in ths country.
I tend to go for bayonets these days.
I am an armourer by trade with over 30 years experience, and I look forward to contributing to this site when I can.

Hello all. I have been a lurker for some time, just haven't committed. Maybe I foresee an addiction I cant afford. The only milsurp weapon I own is my Mossberg 44US, with a low SN. I dont really count my M1A scout to be a milsurp, but its close. Anyway Im looking into getting a M1 Garand in the near future and I know this forum will have all the info I need. Time for me to start searching and reading.
Just wanted to say hello and look forward to interacting with like minded collectors.
looking for some help!
I was in Iraq in 2003-2004 with 3/15 3rd Infantry Division. I was issued a M1200 trench gun!!! I had to break 4 down to make one good combat one.
I have everything I need to build a M1200 EXCEPT the HEAT SHEILD! Where can I get one of these!?!? I have looked everywhere. I also could use a correct but stock (With swivel cut out) but this is seconday.
Can anyone help or advise!?!?
Kind Regards

Hey Guys, new member to this forum, old member on others. Some may know me as Smitty on the others.
Been into Milsurps since around 1988. I enjoy the rifles, the history associated with them. I learn from it (and still learning) , and most of all have fun with the hobby.
I recently retired, so I hope I can put in more time with the hobby than before. I've lurked in the shadows occasionally so figured it was time to be a member.
Happy Shooting,
Smitty
