Just for the sake of being correct, there really was no 'M2' stock. The enhanced stock that could accommodate the M1 or M2 Carbine was still an M1 Carbine stock.

Come on Charlie he is right you know. Inland was the only one to use the Pot Belly type 5 stock while Winchester used the type 4 stock. (like my missing stock you sent to Vermont.) The replacements were type 5 late and post war as they were stronger and helped with a bit of accuracy. Plus type 5 did withstand grenade launching better.
not sure if this will help. But just measured the one cannon. It measures 0.86 '' & is 1''from the oiler cut out. this measurement is also in Riesch's 5th ed. for Inland. The other cannon cant see enough of it to measure.
"...Koreans having access to American Walnut..." Koreans didn't make 'em. They got 1,015,558 Carbines, of all types, from the end of W.W. II until 1972. Friggin' things got around.

Forgot about the stamp on the front sight. Looks like # 68.
The Inland logo on the trigger housing is still there but hard to see.

Saw this stock on WAC's site recently. Anyone know what might've been the reason for the modification? - Bob
I would say the cut out is for the M3 infrared scope mount.

Before the modification cut this is a stock I like to call a late style 3, because of the long barrel channel and would have the recoil plate support cut. Some call these type 4's. Made before the switch over to making the potbelly types....... that most call a M2 stock !!
I own examples of both, but none modified for the scope mount like this example.
Both Inland and WRA made these late type 3's.
