Hello all. Looking forward to sharing information on this board. I recognize several CGN members usernames. I'm not a collector, more of a milsurp user and fan who is very interested in this fascinating class of firearms.

New member here. Have a general interest in military surplus rifles/pistols. Own a few and looking for more. Standard WWII stuff like the Finnish M39, Swiss K31, a few M1s, two M1 Carbines, the obligatory 1903A3, a newly acquired Lee Enfield Longbranch No4 Mk1 and a No5 Mk1.
This board looks like a good source for info.
G'day,
New to this board. My hobby is Enfields and I look forward to expanding my knowlege base.
Hi. Looks like a great forum. Been interested in Mil Surplus forever and been collecting for a number of years. Have really started adding to collection when the kids left home. Wife told me she would be leaving home if I bought any more "guns" :nono: ....sure gonna miss her! :D
Hello all,
As my user name or handle implies, My name is Clyde and I'm from North Carolina in the US.
I've been collecting milsurps for about twenty years, since I was a teenager. My first milsurp was a German G98/40 my father gave me for Christmas one year. I wanted a K98 but ended up with the rather rare 98/40. Still have it, too. :)
I've been interested in and concentrated mostly on the US stuff, with occasional side trips to German, Russian, Japanese and others. I like them all! Besides US rifles like Garands and '03s and 1911s and such, my other passion would be Enfields. I have a real weak spot for them.
My collection is small but has been built with care. I have gotten more and more picky as time went on, and have ended up with a few very nice safe queens and a number of nice shooters.
Greetings from the Island.
Collector of Enfields, Rosses, Swedes and various other odds & ends.
History buff etc.
I'll chime in when I think I've got something to contribute!
I am a new member and just found this site. I have been collecting for over 20 years and have recently just gotten bitten by the milsup bug again. I look forward to seeing what everyone is collecting and learn as much as possible.
Hi Everyone,
I just found this site and am very impressed with what it contains. I am specifically interested in and collect SMLE's and No. 4's. I'll probably be mostly a reader of what is being said on here in the beginning, but hope to get more involved as my computer skills develop.

Hi All,
New member here and soon to be proud owner of a Swiss K-31 7.5 x 55 that I will be using to compete in Military Bolt Action Rifle competitions. Look forward to being a part of the forum.
Just a short introduction. Retired, living in southern Manitoba. Like long range rifle shooting, birdhunting and Labrador Retrievers. Been shooting for 50+ years. Military rifles, odd calibres, and classic sporting rifles and shotguns turn me on.
The caption on the picture was a quote from a friend of mine, after watching one of the Labs in action. It says "I can make it to the front gate in 3.2 seconds. Can you make it in 3.1?"
Hello everyone: I am a new member, have been collecting for about 25 years I also have a C&R 03 license and enjoy WWI & WWII pistols and rifles of all types.
Hey, just came over from CGN.
"Some folks call me Jim but you can just call me... Jim."
Not really a new member, just a retread. I mainly used this site for some research I was doing and didn't participate much. Time passed unnoticed and then I got this email response telling me I needed to check in so I did and here I am.
I have been 'collecting' milsurps for about 7 years though I had a couple longer than that and have been a gun 'accumulator' since I was a kid. I'm in my 50's now.
I'm a disabled veteran and financial limitations have reduced my collection to a very few. The physical limitations inhibit my shooting so these days I focus more on scholarly research.
My main focus is Yugo Mausers. I moderate a Yugo Mauser forum on another site and I have co authored a couple articles published in the Military Rifle Journal, one of which, TRZ.5 All Roads lead to Hadzici," I understand will be picked up by Canfield for his "The Gun Report." I have been informed it will be much edited so when it comes out, I would be glad to round it out or suggest you all refer to the article published in the MRJ. Other articles on Yugo Mausers are in the works. One on the M48B I understand will appear in a future edition of the MRJ and I am fortunate to be working with a well known author on a trilogy of articles describing Yugo Police weapons of the 20th century.
I am not blowing my own horn or advertising as, so far anyway, I don't get paid or receive other compensation for these submissions. I am just providing my bonafides which I understand to be the purpose of this forum. So if this new guys posts some info, you may have some idea what he may know.
Otherwise my collection may have some Mosins, an Enfield, and a few other assorted items. By odd chance I have never acquired a German Mauser and a bent in my personality prevent me from examining in detail weapons I don't own. Consequently I know practically nothing of this cornerstone of Mauser collecting.
Being disabled also gives me some time to sit at the computer and rattle on which I see I am doing here.
nuff said.
Jim
hello...i have only been collecting for a little over a year but i am quickly becoming addicted. i have an m1 garand,no.4mk2,98k,91-30 a norinco and a yugo sks and i am patiently waiting for my newly aquired svt1940 and swedish model 96 to arrive in the mail.
hello, new member here from Edmonton.Used to have a big collection(some pretty rare stuff), then being STUPID...had no collection, and now am getting back into it(smaller though, money's not what it used to be).I like to shoot with my daughter so I try to purchase cheap shooting firearms, right now I have in .22 - Henry lever, Ruger 45/22. In .38 a couple of Uberti single action open tops.In 7.62x39 a m59/66 and a VZ58S ( both worked over w/aftermarket everything including 8x Russian sniper optics).I have a '49 LongBranch Enfield (violated by previous owner), a new AIA Enfield in .308 and a 116yr old German commission rifle in 7.92x57.I just right now picked up a No1 Mk3 Siamese Enfield w/1907 Anderson Bayonet... not sure what I want to do with it.Well, thats me...wow, long winded
Hey, anyone know if any of the AIA Enfields in 7.62x39 made it into this country ???
Hello all,
I've lurked here for a bit and have finally decided to post. As far as rifles I have:
Savage No4 Mk 1 scopeless "T" which now has a No32 Mk3 on it
Enfield No4 Mk1
1903A3 Remington
1903A4 Remington clone
numerous others.
Best day of aquiring firearms: the day I received my Savage scopeless T
Worst day; not buying a No5 "Jungle carbine" for $100 at a local pawn shop
Another new guy here. I've got a bubbaed P14 and a #4 Mk1 that I'm looking to return to an unembarrased state.
(In this case I wasn't Bubba):p

Hello from the North Shore of Lake Erie. I'm also on CGN. I've started saving old rifles and stuff back when I was 15 years old. Walked into John's Surplus in Pembroke, picked a "303" out of the barrel, handed over $25.oo(John through in a 50 round box of surplus ammo) and walked out the door...my how things have changed.
Hi to all....
I would like to thank Badger for the gracious invite.
Hello all, another FNG !. I am retired after 25 yrs as a motor officer in the desert of the southwest and have decided to attempt a new life in gunsmithing and collecting of a few mil-surp rifles. I have started a Mosin Nagant collection, 6 so far, and they seem to multiple like rabits in the safe and have just bought 2 original 1853P Enfields that came from Nepal in uncleaned, unrestored condition. I have a SMLE 2a1 enroute as well and hope to learn much from everyone here on all I am gathering.
thanks for letting me in.
Jim In Yuma
I am new here, based in Quebec, I am collecting firearms since a little over 20 years, got lots of Mausers, SKS, Lee-Enfield, Ross. A bit of handguns (made in or used by Canada only). Right now I am mostly collecting civilian (not sporterized mils) Mausers, older Lee-Enfield (WWI, LB's) and Ross but I am still quite active in the rest of the military stuff, if not for my personal collection for others.
Hi, I'm here from CGN and decided to join.
My very first Milsurp experience was in the Air Cadets. I so distinctly remember shooting the Lee-Enfield mk 111, at Long Branch ranges for the first time at age 14. I also remember the long TTC street car ride home on King Street with my ears ringing!!!! (lasted for two days!) Recoil was stout as I kept getting driven back down the butts lying on a ground sheet. Oh what fun!! I've been around a few years now and am a retired farmer/consulting engineer, and never quite good at each occupation. I hunt, reload, collect, repair and "bubba" 98's to my hearts content, After all they made about 11 million of 'em. I also restored some Krags ang 1909's and at one time had three Mannlicher-schoenauers (sold them all,why I don't know) Well I'm now going to explore this here site and see what's up:dancingbanana::madsmile::beerchug::rolleyes:
Hi y'all! New member here, but started shooting in 1937, reloading in 1948. I don't count myself a collector, but am very interested in military arms. I presently have an M1, L/E #5, and a 1911. And 'others'. Had a lot of Mausers but sold that collection. Presently a member/poster at WRSA,Western Rifle Shooters Association, RWVA,The Appleseed Project
and Cast Boolits Cast Boolits - Dedicated To The World Of Cast Bullets!.
Hi y'all, I came across this forum via a link from the Lee Enfield Forum and it looks very interesting. I collected Mil-Surp for quite a while but became really interested in competitive shooting so sold all my mil-surps to equip myself for more serious shooting. Last year I came across a ratty looking P-14 for $35 and couldn't turn it down. It turned out to be a real shooter! Our club started to have military shoots (pre-1946) soon after. Last fall I picked up a much nicer (also sporter) P-14 for $80 and picked it up also. Last month a member of our club died and I bought 2 No.4 Mk I Enfields form his estate. A fer weeks ago I bought a No. 1 Mk III at a gun show for $200. I'm afraid I'm hooked again. It's an addiction I just can't seem to shake. My main problem is cash defeciency. If I want more guns, I usually have to sell something else, which is why I sold my former collection. There are certainly a few of them I would like to have back.
Gerry
Hi, new here. I'm an enthusiast and beginning collector. Not much Milsurp-wise. Just getting started out with an SVT-40, and looking to learn as much as I can about it.
I'm also looking to pick up a dewatted AK for some familiarization practise. :D
Hi all,
I am new to this site.
I am Ex-Military and am looking to buy Lee Enfield or any Lee Rifles. I am also looking for a deactivated FNC1 to buy just for nostalgia. Does anyone have any idea where I can find these?
Gerry, you said you might be looking for some cash??? I would love one of those Lee Enfields...
My husband is James Paris Lee IV...there are only 3 of the Rifles in our Family and the one that was supposed to be passed down to him...we'll just say it was swiped:madsmile:
I would love to surprise hubby for Father's Day.
Hi
Just starting on the forum i collec ww2 stuff sinc the age a 6 hold and hope learn from new stuff here
Just wanted to say "Hello" and "Thanks" to the organizers and members of this forum. My Dad was the shooting enthusiast in the family and when he passed away 18 years ago I inherited some rifles and a shotgun or two that have been sitting in a gun locker in my basement since then. I recently join a club to be able to take my son to the range and teach him to shoot, and I ran across some information about a "Milshoot". Sounded like fun and making a long story short, I now have a LB Lee-Enfield No4 Mark 1* disassembled in my basement that I am looking forward to cleaning and shooting. (I'll hold off on the Milshoots until I've had a chance to get some practice)
The things I have learned on this site have already saved me a bunch of grief and time and I'm sure I will learn much more as time permits. Too bad my Dad didn't live long enough to see the real value of the world wide web - he'd have loved this place!
Feel all welcome in this big family that is MILSURPS.COM.
I'm sure you all have knowledge we can share together. Cheers!

Greetings, to all. Have a little bit of most countries Milsurps, just got my C&R. Love the history and collecting.
Hi folks. Although I have been around awhile watching and reading everyone's comments this is my first post. I look forward to sharing ideas and thoughts.
Chris
New guy on the forum. Glad to be here and greetings to all. I do have a question. I have been reloading for years and shoot a lot of mil surp rifles and ammo. As most of you know, the surplus ammo is not too accurate. I have a bunch of 8MM, .303, 7.62X54R and was wondering if anybody has ever tried pulling the bullets and reloading with modern powder. If so, how did it shoot?
Moderator note: I made a copy of this post for SGRAVESOK and put it in the "Ammunition and Reloading for Old Milsurps" forum. Please respond to his question in that forum. Thanks.
Greetings All!
Just found and registered to this site. I have been an active collector/reloader/shooter for 40 years. My collecting has changed over the years and my current focus and most enjoyable one so far are European Military Rifles from the transitional era of roughly 1866 to 1900. I maintain and shoot a moderate sized collection of rifles and some carbines. I do a lot of reloading for obsolete calibers. I also have an ever growing library of reference books on arms in my collection and look to add to it when I can. As a hobby/business I do some restoration and repairs to both firearms as well as edged weapons. I am retired and thus have much more time to devote to my interests and am always looking to make new contacts and to share what I have with others. I am looking forward to being a member of this site! Thank you, Joe
Hi

Hey all I am new to this forum...been collecting milsurps for about two years now....mostly soviet.......looking forward to gather insight from you more experienced collectors
Hi Guys, I live in Nova Scotia. I got my first gun 31 years ago( It's well worn but I still own it GRIN) and have been into gun collecting for 23 years now. I used to work occasionally with a dealer when I was a young teen and got to handle many military guns both common guns and exotic including virtually all types of SMG's, both Light and heavy machine guns and assault rifles. I was a very fortunate boy to have had that experience and will never forget those days. I'm on the CGN forum as well under the same user name. Great site here fellas and I have had the opportunity to purchse items from a few fellow members as well.

Hello guys and ladies.
New to your interesting site, but have been collecting for the past twenty years. Previously a US Army Special Forces weapons man, now a retired motion picture industry grip. Collect primarily British military and police arms with an emphasis on sniper rifles and a smattering of US military arms.
Hello members, after 57 years of working with firearms I am still searching for information and parts to stay with this life long interest.
Hi folks,
I have been a collector of military arms, enfields in particular, for over
40 years and am still learning new stuff all the time; thats what makes
collecting so interesting. Best regards, JP
New member honoured to belong & humbled in the presence of such greatness!::bow:
My wife & I just got our P.A.L.'s this year & we shoot military surplus rifles every weekend. They're grrrrreat!!! So far we have a Swedish Mauser, Tokarev SVT40, Mosin Nagant M38 & a Swiss K31 arriving any day.
Great site you've got here.
Hi guys
I'm not fluent in english... So, don't be mad at me and don't hesitate to correct me please !:sos:
A friend of mine has just give me for free a splendid Enfield MKIII. I've too a swedish Mauser with his bayonet (from 1942).
I'm looking for two things : first, the barrel band fit for the swedish Mauser bayonet, and second, a sniper scope mount for my Enfield...
A big thank you from France !!!:beerchug:
Hello everybody. I heard about this site over at CGN and thought I should join up. I go by the same name at CGN. I am new to the sport/hobby and plan to acquire some milsurp rifles - so far Lee Enfield, Mosin Nagant and Garand are on my list. I'm sure that list will grow after I learn more from browsing this site.
Hi everyone, I am Bill and have been collecting Military rifles for over 30 years now. I trainned in the Canadain Reserves at 16 with an FNFAL and never forgot the experience. I collect just about everything. Cheers !!!!
Hello everyone. I am a new member.
Hi Everyone, great forum. I have been collecting a few years. My primary interests are in commonwealth and US weapons.
Hello all,
I'm a new member with the privilege of 47-yrs of MilSurp collecting. I remember and participated in the good-ole'-days of "Mail Order" guns from such greats as "Ye Old Hunter, Hy Hunter & Martin B. Retting" and receiving them by RR-Express.
My primary interest is the Enfield rifle (all models), but like all collecting, it tends to include others related to those periods of conflict.
I look forward to this Forum and contributing to it where I can.
Regards.
Hello everyone. I am new to this forum. Got my first L-E ,a No.4 Mk1, nearly
50 years ago for $10 from a pile in Korvetts on Long Island. Down to 1 now,
a No.4 Mk1 built at Fazackerly using an unfinished No. 1 Mk VI reciever. (The
magazine cutoff slot isn't cut.) I miss the mailorder dealers and the many
gunshows in the New York area. I collect facts now from the forums and reading.
New member here. have been collecting off and on for 40 years. Mostly on for last 30 years. USN (Ret.) 58-79
Hi Everyone!
Here's my first go at this forum, so, sorry if I make a mess of it.
I became interested in WW2 when I found that my dad helped build the Amazon bridge crossing over the river Rapido as shown in an amazing painting by Terrence Da Cunio, which hangs in the mess at the Royal Engineers HQ. A nice print also hangs in my office, and has inspired me to study the conflict and collect WW2 hardware. It started with a nice Mk2 Bren, and then a Thompson sub, MP40, etc etc. Handling these weapons really reaches back for me.
I became dissatisfied with deacs, seemed such a shame they would never speak again, so I joined a shooting club in Blackburn, where, last week I was handed a Longbranch Lee Enfield and invited to try a few rounds. (Blackburn was a great find, thanks Bill!). I was instantly hooked for life,
now I have to have one, or more, and find out all about them.
Don't know if that entitles me to join this forum, Regards, Hans...
Hey. I'm brand spankin new to this site- introduced to it via CGN. Always had an interest in Milsurps, and now I'm finally on my way to doing something about it! Gotta get myself Lee Enfield educated as I'm finally ready to throw down the $$$'s on a Long Branch! Cheers
gady fellas,
look forward to being involved with you all.
Cheers

Hello all! I'm not much of a collector but I know a few that do. I'm also ton45 in CGN and a few other related forums. I know I'll be learning allot in here.
I spend most of my time on Gunboard's Swedish and Swiss forums, but stumbled on this one searching for Swedish Mauser info. I have a sizeable Swedish Mauser collection as well as Swiss snipers. The rest of my collection includes US military rifles (I compete in Garand matches), Swedish and Swiss target rifles (I compete in high power competitions), Swedish sporters, and assorted pistols, revolvers, and bayonets (plsu a couple helmets and accessories).
I am looking to cull the herd a bit. So I can put the boys through college and save for the next piece I cannot live without. I look forward to perusing this site and learning from you. Best, Dan
Here are three of my babies (Swedish M41 and M41B snipers):

Good Evening All
This is my first post and its just to say hello and introduce myself, I`m a relatively new shooter, only a couple of years but I definitely have the bug. I shoot 2-3 times a fortnight at our home range (25 yards)in London and once a month at Bisley. At the indoor range we shoot .357 underlevers, .22 semi and bolt and .22 prone and run various comps throughout the year. At Bisley we shoot 100-1000, usually target rifle on 300 and above but some great old and new stuff on the 100 & 200 Short Siberia. I do have a real yearning for the Lee Enfields and it was at the Jouster Lee Enfield forum that I heard about this forum (from Badger). Anyway gotta run, I`ve got sandwiches to make as we are shooting 600 tomorrow on Century range at Bisley and the weather`s looking good.
I certainly look forward to reading the posts and will comment when I feel that I can add something but with all the experience and knowledge on these forums I tend to feel that its best to keep my ears open and my mouth shut and I might actually learn something ;-) .
All the Best
Larry
I have been a member on another site.
Badger's Email concerning a No 32 MK 1 scope I found led me to your site.
Some great library items here

I'm new to this forum and have an interest in Mauser K-98 rifles. Have 3 of them at present and also a Persian Mauser. Am looking forward to learning as much as possible, etc.
