Hello everyone,
I am a new member. My main interests are military collectibles of all epochs.
Hi folks - I'm new to this forum, and just wanted to say hello.
I have this same handle on the Smith & Wesson and Ruger forums, so I wouldn't be surprised if some of you guys are familiar to me, too.
I enjoy milsurps, and over the years have accumulated a few - a CMP SA Garand (VAR barrel), a raggedy Blue Sky Standard Products M1 carbine, a pretty decent 1903A3 Springfield, a No 4 SMLE, and of course an M44 Mosin Nagant (of the $89 Big 5 variety). In handguns, I have a reparked Ithaca 1911A1, a Smith 1917, and a couple of Victory Models.
Yesterday my sister gave me an Eddystone 1917, and researching that I found this fine place. I look forward to learning a lot from the obviously knowledgeable folks here.
Hello everyone,
Great forum here. It is a pleasure to be a future part of this group. I enjoy the history of military small arms

Hello wags. I suggest that google is your friend. Here's a link I found ther: http://www.rifleman.org.uk/BSA_sight...ccessories.htm
I'm 1BigGuy and this is my first post here. I am primarily interested in military firearms of WWII vintage of all nations.
Dave here, I enjoy Enfield rifles mainly plus military rifles from USA, Germany ,and Russia. This site has a ton of good information.
G'day, gentlemen.
Been a shooter all my life, and have just acquired (or been bitten by) an interest in ex-military rifles.
Currently own 2 Martini Cadets, one I had since a teenager; started out sporterised as .222, but since converted to .22rf, due to an over-zealous load that bulged me grand-dad's Douglas match barrel. The other's a fairly original .310 that I'm currently coming to grips with, not being familiar with lead bullets & their quirks.
Other odds & ends:
*6.5x55 Swede, bought with a (beech) sporter stock, that I've since replaced with a walnut stock that I carved, chequered & polished myself.
*Me grand-dad's enfields. One is his highly customised MK3 range rifle, the other is his sporterised MLE, with, I believe, a heavy Lithgow barrel. It's this rifle in particular I'd like to get shooting again. It had an old Lyman scope fitted, which I'd rather retire, to look after it, and am exploring the possibilities of what sights may be possible.
Having a degree of trade skills, I can make or modify a fair amount. I'm considering a peep rear sight, but there's no front, for which I'd appreciate any advise as to what may fit. Alternatively, a low-powered scope, though mounts are a bit of an issue to make. Again, any suggestions, please.
Thanks for reading this. Looking forward to all & any replies.
Paul.
Hi. New Member
Im a new member too i have some questions to be asked
Hi everyone.
Just new to here. Looks like lots of great information available here to learn. I'm glad i found it!
I love my old military rifles. Particularly enfields and mausers and have a few now. Trying to stop buying for a while...
Great to be here. Cheers.
Hi All,
I'm Bob and have been mildly collecting Lee Enfields for a few years.
Just got a No. 4 Mk. 2 from a good friend, and it's got the "Regulated by Fulton" stamp.
The serial no. is : PF196xxx. No Date stamp. So I know it's Fazakerly, first batch and maybe 1949 or 50?
Can someone advise, please?
Thanks for all the great info. that you folks provide.
-Bob
Hi fellows came from Scotland 45 years ago lived in New Zealand most of my life own A 7.62 L1A1 used for hunting as well.
Hi all,
New to this forum. Been collecting for 40+ years...Started with a 1903A3 Springfield, and it snowballed from there. Latest acquisitions include a 1917 Springfield and a no code Walther G43 "44" marked. Looking through the posts here,I have found a ton of helpful info...Hope you don't mind some dumb questions...

New member here just getting set up to be able to post.
Hello all,
I just found this site and have been trying to cram way too much info on M1903A4 snipers. I am going to look at what I've been told is an original Springfield A4 sniper that an older gent has for sale. I believe it has a Redfield scope on it that was pre-military contract, which I "think" is what was initially used on these???
I'm sure I'll have plenty of Q's. Any tips on what to look for would be greatly appreciated, but I will post a thread about this when I get more info on the rifle. The seller has been collecting military rifles for many years and is approaching 80 years old now. I don't want to pay too much for a put-together and I'll see if I can take some pics of the rifle. Thanks and I look forward to gaining knowledge here and maybe someday being able to share info I've learned. I'm new to the 1903A3 rifles. (The seller has some of those for sale too, and was agreeable to a "package deal" when I brough it up.)
I've been interested in military surplus guns for a while and lately been looking up guns on Wikipedia everyday. M1895 is my latest baby. Just wanted top start hi
Hi all.
Just signed up today. Great amount of info on here. I am a pistol and semi auto shooter-up until now, but I have just purchased a FR8 mauser and cleaned up the stock and now am hooked on service rifles.
I would love a no4 and a no5 LE in the future and hope to learn more on these rifles before I make a purchase. I shoot short course IPSC and would like to get into Service Match here in NZ in the near future with these rifles.
Am amazed at this website.
Thanks all.

Hello, im a Canadian member of CGN.
I only have a Chinese PLA SKS for now, but plan to have at least a Garand and a Lee Enfield in the future.
new member just wanted to say hello:)
Hey guys! This is my introductory thread so I thought I might let everyone know that I have been a gun collector of some sort for over 35 years. The "older" military weapons have always fascinated me so I have gradually added some to my "keeper" list over the years. Like I'm sure most are here...I also am a member of several other gun forums too.
Here are most of the current milsurps in my collection...
1943 Springfield M1 Garand
1944 Inland M1 Carbine
1920 Enfield No1 MK III
1943 Enfield No4 MkI
1943 Moisin Nagant
1953 Russian SKS (laminated stock)
Mauser C96 "Red Nine" (police marked)
Mauser 41 BYF "Black Widow" Luger
I'm looking forward to learning even more from what appears to be a very knowlegable crowd.

ALSO, I HAVE, AGAIN, STARTED TO ADD TO MY NAMBU COLLECTION AND AM INTERESTED IN ADDING MORE. I CAN BE CONTACTED DIRECTLY VIA MY EMAIL: frederickmosiman@hotmail.com. I USUALLY SET UP AT VARIOUS INDIANA GUN SHOWS (ALWAYS MUNCIE, TIPTON, ALEXANDRIA AND A FEW OTHERS.

I have had the disease for quite a while. Started with a Swedish Mauser, then a 1903 Springfield, an O3A3, a Savage Mk4, an Eddystone P-14, a Finn Model 39 and 1891 and lately an Arisaka Model 38 and a 7.7 short rifle. So this web site has plenty to offer me. Wiley99
Hows it going.
I found a rusty bayonet in the storage shed at the duplex im renting here in Austin, TX.
After doing some research, I know that its a Yatagan style sword-bayonet with a Quillon on the crosspiece, and the locking screw is slightly forward on the muzzle ring.
All i know about bayonets, I learned in the past hour at my desk at work, so im by no means educated in these respects. I would just like to figure out a bit more about it. I found a post on this site in a google serarch (Unknown Yataghan sword bayonet - keltic0_1s Photo Gallery - Military Surplus Collectors Forums) which looks almost identical to my accidentally inherited treasure. Mine is quite a bit more rusty, and I havent had time to look it over for markings. All I have to go off of is a single picture I took this morning before hastily leaving late for work. Ill post the pic in response to his post if the site allows me to do so. Feel free to conetact or email me if u think u may be able to help me identify my bayonet!
Hi everyone!
I'm the new guy on board today. I've got a lot of looking around to do so I can see how everything works here. It looks impressive!
I'm a US firearms and military collector at the top of my list, and I'm a shooter too besides being a Machinist/Tool Maker by trade. If it's stamped US, goes bang or has a motor,
I'm right at home.
Hi PhayzR
After a lot of research I found out that mine was an 1867 Bayonet for a Danish Rolling Block rifle - Bayonet was manufactured in Germany.
Not Many around
Best wishes kletic0-1
My name is Bill.I collect old Black Powder firearms as well as military arms most of which are WW2 bolt action rifles.I would like to know if there are any of you with knowledge of the Model 60 H&R Reising?Where is the Ser# on these?I looked on mine where another Blog said to look and found a number 70.
Hey everybody,
I am new to collecting milsurp, am particularly interested in the Russian family of rifles. Just discovered this site....what an amazing resource. Looking forward to learning all i can on the subject. Thanks for all of your knowledge, and willingness to help those just breaking into the hobby.

Hello. I just ran across this site and it seems to be right up my alley. I have been a military collector for 60 years. I love to trade and buy only when I can afford it. I am retired US Army and a disabled veteran. I collect mainly the American Civil War and WW II. I specialize in Confederate and German relics from uniforms to guns. I love BC-669 radios and want an enigma. Since I am over the hill everything that I have is available for the right price or trade item. I am presently building myself a Bren Gun and am in need of some small parts. :)

Evening all!
I'm new to this forum, but not new to the milsurp scene.
I've owned Lee-Enfields as well as Mosin-Nagants and Mausers, but I always go back to the Lee-Enfields... Must be because I've learned to shoot on the .22 version in the air cadets way back, so a No. 4 feels like an old friend.
Found this site while surfing for a muzzleloader kit build tutorial. Looks to be an informative forum. My interests right now are mainly blackpower but I do own several Mauser 98 rifles. They have been sporterized to calibers other than 8mm except the 8mm-06. It is a fine gun. I won't post much but will be lurking and reading to learn. Again, Hello.

Thanks for the help.Info on Springfield form cured my sick to my stomach where does this part go to feeling.
I have been viewing this web site for a while and I would just like to say Hi to everyone and thank all that have posted information. The knowledge I have gained here has help me avoid mistakes and expanded my knowledge of my military rifle hobby.
I have collected several M1's and a few 1903's. Both are a joy to shoot. I used to shoot as a young fellow, but got away from shooting for a time. Three years ago I started shooing again and forgot how challenging and exciting the hobby is.
As you can see my user name is "Bataan279". I use this in honor of my father who was a Bataan Death March survivor. He wished that what they went through would not be lost with time. Feel free to ask me about what he has told me. I will try to do my best.
Hello - just recently getting into milsurp. Hope its not too late!
I have:
Yugo M57
Nagant M1895
CZ-82
M1 Garand
Mosin Nagant M44
SKS 59/66
Looking to add to collection.
Just joined the forum. I have lurked around for awhile. I am mostly into USGI MilSurp weapons.
Greetings to Millsurps.com
Will be 54 this year and have been shooting a lot of APPLESEEDS this year with No#2 daughter (15 years old). She has shown a interest in shooting for 4 years now and has progressed from her H&R 686 22/22m to S&W I frame 32 to 1917 Savage 380 and is now shooting her Ruger 10/22 at the "seeds". So, I've been more than happy to put the golf clubs up and re set-up the loading bench.
My shooting background is pretty informal the only competitive shooting was the local Bullseye league over at the old Tampa Police Department Range before the school system decided to use the property for a High School....What a Waste. Other than that quite bit of hunting and a lot of riddled soda cans. I tried Action shooting a couple of times couldn't get worked up doing it. It was sort of like football in high school, hated playing it, liked to watch it. Played Baseball and Wrestling were my sports in school which possibly explains my like for Bullseye Shooting.
The woman who was the biggest mistake of my life caused the loss of many of my guns (here after known as QBU, queen bitc# of the universe). I had some pretty interesting stuff, but I really miss my Grand Dads Winchester 37, but on the bright side she didn't find his pocket watch.
Now re-married for 16 years, great gal, but gets way to many ideas from HGTV, I will be buried next to her. 5 kids ages 15 to 28, had some rough patches with some of the kids but their all doing pretty OK now. Thank God.
I have a fairly broad electronic engineering background and a serious interest in quite a few subjects from politics to NASA to firearms to history and others.
The job by the way is with a huge public school system keeping the computer networks running. I'm a military brat and I thought Uncle Sam could spend some money, but they are rank amateur's compared with the cash the Public Schools can pi$$ away. The job, as interesting as it is, is really just a way to a paycheck. A way to live comfortably not a way of life.
Thanks for Reading

Hi all, I am a new member. New to collecting mil surplus firearms but not new to guns. Looking forward to learning from others with same interest. Just wish I would have started collecting years ago.
I have recently come into possession of my fathers mildly neglected firearms. He's had several years of rough health, and is now in a retirement home after a stroke. He owns a Garand, as well as some other WW2 weapons. I have always liked these guns, and now find myself wanting to learn all I can about them.
Interested in a PH 16 N for my Brno Model 5
Any info? Thanks,
Hello, my name is Shadawick. I am a Mil-Surpholic!
There is no cure for my addiction only learning how to live with the condition!
I found the site looking for Sten semi builds .
Trying to find pics of what stocks other's may have used other than what came with the part's kit .
Seems now I have found another cool site .
User name was the name of a grrrreat uncle that served at Valley Forge .
Another new guy here, my family has been into milsurp since the NRA was giving out Krags. I inherited a lot of WW2 stuff and have been onto WW1 stuff myself for the last ten years or so. I chanced on this site researching 22 trainers, looks like another great site full of specialized collectors. Just wanted to say "Hi" before I start asking questions!
Hello to all! I appreciate all the useful information that the forums provide!

I'm new to the forum, I've been collecting WW2 Firearms since 2004, though I'm upwards of 20 Firearms not all are WW2, five or so are modern firearms, though I haven't been able to collect as much since I Joined the Marine Corps in 2005 and have been in and out of the US for most of my time in.

I am Patrick and Hail from St.Catharines, Ontario. I am interested in the hobby of shooting and meeting people from this community.

Hi folks,
This is my introduction. I have been a member of this forum for months, but just now getting around to posting something. I have been a firearms enthusiast since I was a kid in the early 1970s, and my first gun was a Spanish Air Force Mauser in 8x57 that I bought for $17.99 (paper route money). Back in those days, the Woolco store in Tallahassee kept racks of old Mausers (and surplus ammo for $2/box) in the sporting goods department. If I could turn back the clock, I would have bought a couple of those Mausers each month (and Microsoft stock)! Over the years I've bought and sold many dozens of guns, but still have that Mauser!

Hey Im new to the site but great job everybody, keep it up
Hello! My name is Dan Stewart. I live in South Carolina. I picked up an Enfield m.1 MKIII last week. I am just a regular guy who likes WWI and WWII weapons. Hi;
Cool site, have been reading the topics and enjoyed the comments and advice. Have been collecting for years and have recently gotten into milsurps and decided to get into reloading.
I have a Q about reloading for Swedes, so I hope this is the correct place to ask.
I will be reloading for the CG63, M96 and the M38, and so far have found the most recommended powder is the IMR 4350, but have also read comments that because the M38 has a shorter barrel, maybe I should be using a different powder. So my Q is, if this is so, what would be the recommended powder? I would like to stay with IMR as it is more readily available where I live.
I will also be reloading for the Swiss K31 down the road once I get used to reloading.
Thanks. Rob
Hello to everyone in the Milsurps community. I have just recently taken an interest in older military firearms and acquired several SKS and Mosin rifles. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my 03FFL, which I recently applied for. I carried an M16 during my time in the U.S. Army, but I find older firearms much more interesting. Thanks for reading.
My screen name is "adam lee", but you can just go ahead and call me Adam.
I won't tell you the other names my wife calls me from time to time.
I am really glad to have found this resource for milsurp gun knowledge on the web - I look forward to learning and sharing for the common good!
Here in Virginia, we just got over a week and a half early summer heat wave.
• Sizzled to 102 Sunday, breaking the record from 1993.
• Scorched to 105 Saturday, shattering the record of 102 and coming within a degree of the all-time record of 106, set 7/20/1913 and 8/6/1918.
• We have had 4 consecutive days of 100+.
• We have had 11 consecutive days of 95+.
Today, it's finally settled down to a rainy mid-80's. Why does all this matter? I might finally be able to return to more gunsmithing work on my 200+ year old fowler project!
Might even get another shot at tweaking my M39 Finn!

Hi All
Living in Picton New Zealand and have the bug for 303 British Rifles. Do my own reloading and casting lead bullets. Starting to get a reasonable collection together and have re-discovered the meaning of "The more you know the more you realise you don't know". Constantly looking for answers and happy to share what little knowledge I have.
Just got back from a New Zealand Antiques Military Arms Association two day auction in Wellington. I had a great time. Not sure my wife would agree!
Bailed my brother out of jail. I get an 303 Enfield for the bail bond $426. I paid to much! What do I have? I love everything about the south but the damn gnats.
Ahoy!
Just wanted to sign on here, sure looks like a very interesting site with a lot of great information to learn and share.

I saw somebody asking about Japanese POW's and a reference to his grandfather. I can't find the direct thread now but maybe he will see it. My grandfather was a Chaplain with the 200th Coast Artillery Unit and died as a Japanese POW after surviving the Bataan March.
Below is a link with information about a film project I am working on based on previously unpublished letters and journal entries.

Hello, friends.
Howdy - 'been reading the site for several years now, and guess I'd be a collector. Over the years, I've ended up with some odd-ball pieces and looking forward to utilizing the collective knowledge to figure out what's up with them. Take care and thanks.

Great site and now for some reading...Cheers!
Greetings all!
I am Ron Woods from Texas, USA and am delighted to be associated with this fine forum.
I adopt, collect, perform "historical restorations" to, and compete in regional Vintage Service Rifle matches with the American Model of 1917, Model 1903, and M1 Garand, Japanese Arisaka Type 38 and Type 99, Enfields' Pattern 1914, No1 MkIII and No4 MkI & Mk2, German k98 Mausers, and Russian Model 1891/30 rifles.
Question for the forum:
Please advise the estimated production date for my latest "historical restoration" project; Pattern 1914 Eddystone Serial Number #29854 and DID NOT go through the Weedom procedures.
I am lacking only the (1) 2.22" dial sight pointer arm w/pointer bead and (2)pivot screw to complete this "Old Soldier." Any comments and suggestions on their availability are welcomed.
Kindest regards!
Ron
HI EVERYONE, I am new to the site, just found it while looking for some Garand M1 information. My name is Chad Ertola. I am born and raised and living in San Francisco, California, also get to the Sierra foothills alot to Mariposa.
My Dad had a collection of some old military rifles. They were like toys when i was a kid, but I was taught a healthy respect for them at an early age. I am fortunate to have inherited them. Eventually I may ask for some info on one or the other here. I don't know much, but they feel like old friends.
Lately I have gotten into the M1 Garand rifle. My Dad was very fond of the M1 Garand from his Army service in WWII. I was steered to the CMP and Garand Collectors Association and now have a nice 1944 Winchester model. I will definitely be interested to learn more from all of you about the Garands, especially the Winchesters.
Thanks in advance, and I hope I don't step on any toes.
Chad
Hi Everyone, its a pleasure to be on board. I hope I can get some questions I have answered.

Hello Everyone
A newbie to this forum. I found it while searching info on M1 Garands.
I own a HRA M1 and just recently aqquired a IHC M1 serial # 44604_ _. It looks to be an original IHC. Not sure about the stock it has no visible markings on the outside. Kinda cool because i live in Evansville where they were produced.
I look forward to chatting and getting more info to the history of my M1's.
Thanks
Glen
I want to say hello as a new member to the forum. I am a new owner of an Inland M1 carbine made in 3-44. I hope to pick your brains on Inlands and carbines in general. Thanks!
Hi everybody. I'm a 40-ish gun enthusiast who doesn't own any guns due to living circumstances but I am an avid amateur researcher on the history of firearms and their effect on the world. Forgive me if my comments tend to be long winded but Forums like this are the only place I can jabber on about my theories and collected knowledge without somebody calling the cops.
I call myself a Liberal Gun Geek because I don't fear President Obama taking guns away(as the HBO show Newsroom pointed out, he hasn't done anything concerning guns at all)and I live in a state that is incredibly Liberal with its gun laws. In Washington state, you don't need a license just valid ID, address and a clean criminal record(handguns are registered with police upon purchase and have a 5 day background check/wait period). And we have no magazine capacity limits.
So I hope to share this forum with all of you for a long time to come!:D
Hello. Ben Thomas from Dadeville, AL at your service.

Hi Folks,
This is my first time to post,
I have one of Citadels M1 .22LR carbines and have put about 400 rounds through it,
using standard CCI with little or no trouble, as far as grouping is concerned, from the bench at fifty yards she will hold a 2inch group
The only problem I have found is that it tend to shoot to the right and since the rear sight is the only one that moves, you end up with it off center.
Havs anyone else had this problem??
I would be very glad to hear from anyonr else that has one and get their your opinion on this little rifle.

I thought I had introduced myself as a new member but guess it went into cyberspace. Just bought an Inland carbine and look forward to getting information by reading and posting on the forum. Thanks!
Hi folks, a new member from quebec canada. Not a collector but a fan of the lee enfield action. Hope to find some info here!!
Hi everyone, new member here from California just got my first Lee Enfield (No. 4 Mk1) about a month ago and love it. I'm a fan of milsurps in general and have already found these forums to be a great source of info. Happy to be here.
I am new to the forum. I have alot of questions and interests. Thanks in advance for your help and insight.
I have a Reising .22 pistol with serial number 1000. I uderstand the ser. numbers began at 1001 and went to 4000, but my now deceased Dad said it was the prototype. How can I ascertain this. The grips are excellent, not much blue and no pitting. Hasn't been fired in over 30 years and a few guys at Melbourne FL gun show today really liked it. What is the approximate value if it is the prototype? Thank you, GDoerner@cs.com

Hi everyone. I'm a Vietnam veteran; retired now and living in the foothills of North Carolina. I hope someone can clear up a question about a knife I just bought.
How can I post some photos of the knife? It has the word Commando on it and I'd like to find out if it's authentic or some kind of knock-off.
Good day to everyone out there!
As an avid Enfield collector, and keen service rifle shooter, the posts available here at Milsurps have been invaluable.
As soon as I am able, I will begin to post pictures and info regarding various items in my growing collection.
Keep up the great work!
Jon

Hello to all. I am new to this online forum stuff and I have question that brought me here. I have recently purchased a no4 mark1 10 shot magazine. It is marked with U.C.F. I wonder if anyone knows what it stands for? The nearest I have been able to find is U.C.M (upper Canadian militia)?
I thank you for your time.
