gooday to all, I am a new member and would like to salute all. I am semi-retired from a career in the military as an industrial supplier. NVG, IR, Navigation, RWS, Combat systems, simulation, counter measures and active armours were the systems I worked on. I have a 1907 p-07 australian bayonnet and would like to know if anyone has an idea of its value.

Hi everyone,
I have recently picked up a No4 Mk1* with 300/600y battle sights. It is accurate enough for bigger targets.
However I have purchased a No4 Mk1 micrometre sight for improved accuracy. It arrived today, however it only has markings for 25, 50 and 100 yards.
I believe this sight has not been fitted to a rifle before. Do I have to sight in the rifle for distances greater than 100y and mark the scale myself?

I only just joined this site in order to further my understanding of the Lee Enfield as detailed technical knowledge is now only evident in the minds of a few Subject Matter Experts. I am seeking details on the process of rebarreling/breeching a No 4 MkI. With the following considerations;
1. Background of Personnel Experience
Armourer experience - Aust Army Fitter Armourer (Artificer).
Lee Enfield experience - next to nothing except to have stripped and cleaned my own Mk II (a novice).
2. The rifle I want to rebarrel had a worn out and severly pitted barrel which has been removed prior to being in my possession.
3. I purchased a heavy barrel (possibly used but in better condition) at a gun show, identification of barrel still not clarified, with intent of rebarreling No 4 MkI.
4. Understanding some of the complexities of rebarreling (is that the right terminology?), I would like more clarification of the process in order to ascertain the likely costs incurred when I engage my local civi Gunsmith as I currently do not have the tooling or experience in this weapon.
Can someone please educate me on the details or direct me to someone who can?

I inherited a Lee Enfield SMLE NO.1 MKIII. We aren't shooting too well together at the moment. Enfield has a good barrel. But not very well attached to the sporterized wood-work. I hope to pick up a few tips. Thanks.
Hi. I've just joined the forum and have a small, but varied, collection of military and sporting rifles and pistols, with a particular interest in French breechloading arms.
However, I notice that Sika Slayer is enquiring about his "No 4" rearsight. Quite clearly it's from a single shot '50's Enfield No 8 .22 training rifle. I used one during my National Service and they shoot extremely well. The sights are, as you can see, from 25 - 100. The "H" designation at the top is for "harmonisation".
What this means is that when the rifle is fired at a landscape target the shot strikes about four foot higher than where it's aimed at on to a sheet of white paper. The purpose of this is so that the landscape target doesn't get shot to pieces! A length of wire, with a pointer on the end, is laid over the shot hole and the pointer shows where the strike is on the landscape target below.
So, Sika Slayer, you'll have to search again for the correct No.4 rearsight. There are two basic types, one with a micrometer adjustment, the other with a slide adjustment, the former being the better one. Both are marked to 1300 yards.

Long time reader, first time posting. Just want to say hello and thanks for all the great info you guys share on this site. I bought an M1 Garand over 24 years ago...and then the kids came. Been busy with other great stuff for a while but am now getting reaquanted with my M1 and read info on this site all the time. I did a nice job packing this weapon up 20 years ago. Lots of grease and oil. She is cleaning up pretty nice. I look forward to being an active part of this community. :thup:
Hi, I'm a new member from San Diego. I was introduced to the site by one of my Uncles who is a member here. My Aunt, from another side of the family, recently gave me a Model 1917 rifle that belonged to either my Grandfather or an Uncle. I look forward to learning about this firearm.

Im a new member located in Queensland Australia, I must say feeling a little lost, as this is all new to me, as I have never signed up to any on line forums in the past.
I am looking for good advice on .303 cartridge MK7z Prvi Partizn ammo I have a chance to purchase. They are in box's of 15 marked PPU7301 MBL7111 POWDER NITRO-CELLULOSE. Headstamped 303 MK7z PP-73, with red sealed primer.
This ammo is very clean from a freshly opened wooden ammo box, looks as new.
I know it is Yugoslavian, but I would like some feedback on anyone who is familiar with this ammo.
Is it corrosive ?, reliable ?.
Your help would be much appreciated, as I would like to shoot Military/full bore with this ammo.
