Hello all,
I'm new member UK based. Common theme Lee-Enfield rifles.
Hi everybody just found this site lots of interesting posts looking forward to learning and sharing my limited knowledge with everybody here . Thanks for having me Rich.
Hi all,
I am located in Ontario, Canada, and have joined this site as I have an Australian bayonet I have been researching and am hoping to find out more information on.
Hello All,
Came across this site and found great information. Only been collecting Milsurp's for about 3 years. Enjoy CMP matches and local club shoots. Again, a great site.
Hi! I am a new member, an ex-Military Marksman, and a collector of Enfield Rifles, I started many years ago when I bought my first hunting rifle from the local hardware store. It was a Lee Enfield No.4 Mk.1 for a grand sum at that time of $27.95, and as they say the rest is history, I can't seem to pass by a Lee Enfield on the table at any gun show without stopping for a look. Over the years I have picked up many this way and for very low prices, and am now in the process of restoring them to Military configuration again as most of them were sporterized. I love these rifles and the history behind them.
Good Evening!
My name is Jason. I have had several K31's over the years and find them truly wonderful rifles. I just found this forum tonight, great place and a wealth of info.
I'm selling one of my rifles in the WTS forum. That leaves me with two. Lately Ive taken up Trout fishing and its, well, expensive. Need to fund some gear for an upcoming trip to Colorado!
I appreciate the opportunity to say hi to everyone and look forward to having a great time sharing info on these rifles.
Be sure to check out my for sale item.
Thanks,
Jason
Retired NYS Trooper (39 years) and current police commissioner in upstate New York. My interest in military equipment and particulary the M1 Garand is a new endeavor for me which began about five years ago. Looking forward to tapping the knowledge of the more experienced members in the future. Thanks

Howdy all, I am new to this forum. There is a lot of intersting and helpful information put out by some very knowledgable people. I am mostly interested in World War II military firearms, and have been collecting for a few years.
Thanks

The P59 ammo box held four 25 pounder HE(high explosive) artillery shells. See the link below:
REL34736 - 25 pdr Ammunition Box | Australian War Memorial
The Quad artillery tractors that pulled the 25 pounder gun often had 2 P59 or P60 ammo boxes in them. We were looking for a P59 ammo box for our Quad. Would you like to sell it?

Hope y'all are having great weekends and enjoying the Olympics! Just joined the forum today and will be filling in profile information tonight. I've had an interest in older firearms for awhile and I'm hoping to start adding a few whenever I can. So far I have one AK-47 and one Carcano made by Beretta in 1931...near as I can tell anyhow. Finding out about the Carcano is what lead me here. I've been stoked to find out the caliber, hopefully buy some ammo, and light up a target or two.
Y'all take care!

Hello am looking forward to participating in the info exchange on milsurps . Seems members are a fountain of knowledge ! Thanks !
Hi All,
At the moment I've a passing interest in milsurps. But if joining this forum is any indicator, it's a growing interest.
Looking for an SMLE at the moment.

Hi from Sitka, Alaska. I'm a newbie, and just wanted to introduce myself. Looking forward to learning and exchanging information.
Hi, I am a new member, from the US. I collect Savage Enfields.
Hello all.
I'm an ex pat Kiwi, now living in the USA.
Ex New Zealand Army (Infantry), currently serving in the US Army as a Combat Medic in Afganistan.
Ive been collecting militaria since I was a kid.
I've just purchased a NO.4 MK I (T) Savage ("U.S. PROPERTY" marked) with a mismatched Long Branch Bolt and mismatched magazine without a scope or mount but has the original pads. It is also missing the cheekrest.
I purchased it online so there was a little faith involved there, I hope I won't be disappointed.
I will be getting a cheekrest (if I can find one) and probably just use a repro scope due to cost, but one never knows.
Ive read a little on here over the last few days and have been quite impressed with the depth of knowledge here.
I'm sure I will learn a lot.
Great site, I'm glad to be here!
Hello group

Hello everyone,
I'm Louie and this is my first post to a message board. A bit new to all of this so please be kind as I learn the do's and dont's...looking forward to chatting with this memberhip...
Hello,
I am new to milsurps collecting and trying to improve my knowledge of ww1 and ww2 era weapons. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.:)
I started out with an old Enfield No.1 Mk2 and the old battle rifles have multiplied like rabbits ever since. I enjoy making them look (and shoot) as close to their war-time careers as possible and the information I've found here has been a tremendous help to me. A few things have slowed me down over the past couple of years but collecting and shooting and learning more about these old vets has been a positive, saving grace.
I look forward to learning more from all of you.

Hi all, can anyone help, I am trying to obtain a butt grip for my bren Mk 1
---------- Post added at 12:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:28 PM ----------
Hi all, can anyone help, I am trying to obtain a butt grip for my bren Mk 1
i had to sell most of my collection due to financial problems. I had all kinds of milsurp such as Remington 1917, Ljungman 42b, MAS 49 56, too many to list. I can't believe how the prices have gone up I'm in the process of buying a MAS 49 56 which I originally bought for $244 which included all the accessories. I had planned to retire and shoot my collection. No such luck.
all for now

I am a new member whos just ordered a M-1 Garand from C.M.P. aand wanted to find out how to dismantle it and work on it.
I'm a newbie on this forum, I'm now retired and have more time to fill up my interest on firearms, I spend a life on collecting firearms.
I espacially like Colt guns, I belong to CCA ( Colt Collecting Association). I've been lucky to attend several CCA Conventions in several States, included in october 2, 1992 at Hartford CT, visiting the Old factory, even on top of the famous Dome as well as the new factory with Ms Hoyt and M. Huber.
Well, my language is french, (hope my English is not too bad) living in the French part of Switzerland, 'cause in my country is shared in three parts German, French, Italian.
My present interest has turned to 1911A1 pistols from the five manufacturers.
I should say four because I do not think I could see once a Singer.
By-By everyone and good luck for your collecting adventure.
Newbe data.
I'm long time shooter of an 1903A3 that my father purchased when I was 14 or so. He bought it after a fellow he delivered milk to offered it to him, post "sporterizing" for $25. Yup, I'm a bit old. It was worth more then, and now, had he not "sporterized" it, but we do with what we get. My son will get it next. He's becoming a shooter, but he lives in California where its a struggle just to own a gun.
I recently got interested in the Mormon Battalion, some 500 Mormons who signed on with the US Army during the Mexican-American War. They were issued Model 1816 Springfield Musket from the Harper's Ferry arsenal. They were .69 caliber smooth bore flintlocks--they weigh a ton. Anyway, I'm open to anyone who can help me with the accouterments provided to them. They are the folks who completed the Santa Fe Trail through to San Diego, California, where there is a museum; the museum that sparked my interest.
Regretfully, I have physical problems that will prevent me from doing a real job of re-enacting this historically significant group, but I plan to pass on all the equipment and knowledge I can amass to my Grandson as he strikes me as the kind of person who will get involved with it. I may have started too late to get my son going, but then I may be proven wrong in the end (I sure do hope so).
I'm a retired Chief Petty Officer from the US Navy. Ratings I served in included BM, AO, GMTC/WTC; I get bored easily, which is why Muzzleloading has always interested me. I have 4 traditional (2 flint, 2 cap) and 2 inline muzzleloaders plus a cap-and-ball revolver. Regretfully, they are all reproductions, but they are shooters and I have fun doing that. I also love shooting the AR I had put together from DPMS; they make a fine rifle that can't be possessed in California.

Hello Everyone,
I've lurked in this forum occasionally, and it's awesome! I wish I could find time to visit more often (which is why I keep getting reminders in my email that I haven't exactly been an active member). Guess it's time to turn off the reminder about an introductory post I get when I do log in.
The collective knowledge in this forum is amazing. So is the collection of publications. I've downloaded and read several. Thanks for a great forum.

Hi everyone,
I have recently picked up a No4 Mk1* with 300/600y battle sights. It is accurate enough for bigger targets.
However I have purchased a No4 Mk1 micrometre sight for improved accuracy. It arrived today, however it only has markings for 25, 50 and 100 yards.
I believe this sight has not been fitted to a rifle before. Do I have to sight in the rifle for distances greater than 100y and mark the scale myself?
Picture below.

Hello all,
I only just joined this site in order to further my understanding of the Lee Enfield as detailed technical knowledge is now only evident in the minds of a few Subject Matter Experts. I am seeking details on the process of rebarreling/breeching a No 4 MkI. With the following considerations;
1. Background of Personnel Experience
Armourer experience - Aust Army Fitter Armourer (Artificer).
Lee Enfield experience - next to nothing except to have stripped and cleaned my own Mk II (a novice).
2. The rifle I want to rebarrel had a worn out and severly pitted barrel which has been removed prior to being in my possession.
3. I purchased a heavy barrel (possibly used but in better condition) at a gun show, identification of barrel still not clarified, with intent of rebarreling No 4 MkI.
4. Understanding some of the complexities of rebarreling (is that the right terminology?), I would like more clarification of the process in order to ascertain the likely costs incurred when I engage my local civi Gunsmith as I currently do not have the tooling or experience in this weapon.
Can someone please educate me on the details or direct me to someone who can?
Regards
Leo.
Hi,
I inherited a Lee Enfield SMLE NO.1 MKIII. We aren't shooting too well together at the moment. Enfield has a good barrel. But not very well attached to the sporterized wood-work. I hope to pick up a few tips. Thanks.
Hi. I've just joined the forum and have a small, but varied, collection of military and sporting rifles and pistols, with a particular interest in French breechloading arms.
However, I notice that Sika Slayer is enquiring about his "No 4" rearsight. Quite clearly it's from a single shot '50's Enfield No 8 .22 training rifle. I used one during my National Service and they shoot extremely well. The sights are, as you can see, from 25 - 100. The "H" designation at the top is for "harmonisation".
What this means is that when the rifle is fired at a landscape target the shot strikes about four foot higher than where it's aimed at on to a sheet of white paper. The purpose of this is so that the landscape target doesn't get shot to pieces! A length of wire, with a pointer on the end, is laid over the shot hole and the pointer shows where the strike is on the landscape target below.
So, Sika Slayer, you'll have to search again for the correct No.4 rearsight. There are two basic types, one with a micrometer adjustment, the other with a slide adjustment, the former being the better one. Both are marked to 1300 yards.
Good hunting!
Long time reader, first time posting. Just want to say hello and thanks for all the great info you guys share on this site. I bought an M1 Garand over 24 years ago...and then the kids came. Been busy with other great stuff for a while but am now getting reaquanted with my M1 and read info on this site all the time. I did a nice job packing this weapon up 20 years ago. Lots of grease and oil. She is cleaning up pretty nice. I look forward to being an active part of this community.
Hi, I'm a new member from San Diego. I was introduced to the site by one of my Uncles who is a member here. My Aunt, from another side of the family, recently gave me a Model 1917 rifle that belonged to either my Grandfather or an Uncle. I look forward to learning about this firearm.

Hello all.
Im a new member located in Queensland Australia, I must say feeling a little lost, as this is all new to me, as I have never signed up to any on line forums in the past.
I am looking for good advice on .303 cartridge MK7z Prvi Partizn ammo I have a chance to purchase. They are in box's of 15 marked PPU7301 MBL7111 POWDER NITRO-CELLULOSE. Headstamped 303 MK7z PP-73, with red sealed primer.
This ammo is very clean from a freshly opened wooden ammo box, looks as new.
I know it is Yugoslavian, but I would like some feedback on anyone who is familiar with this ammo.
Is it corrosive ?, reliable ?.
Your help would be much appreciated, as I would like to shoot Military/full bore with this ammo.
Cheers Graham.
New to this particular forum, hopefully it can aid in my restoration projects, and vise versa. Hellow to you all!

Hello all,
Just starting collecting in May this year when I came across a Model 1895 Chilean Mauser at an estate auction. I have to say it was love at first sight and it's still my favorite. Since then I have added a Mosin 91/30 and a Lee Enfield No4 Mk1 to my collection.
Bolt-actions are my favorite by far, although a buddy has a Dragunov that has caught my eye.
I would say that I'm more interesting in having shooters than mantlepieces so my rifles are little "loved" on. The Mauser and Lee are mutts for sure. I don't think any of the numbers match on either.

Hello, new member and novice Lee Enfield enthusiast from Scotland.
Yup. That's me. This site was suggested to me by another service rifle user.
Hi my name is Neill Bates, I have been collecting Enfields since 1997. I am a member of LERA,HBSA, ATSC. I am a regular shooter at Bisley and always compete with Enfield Rifles. My main interest is any Enfield from the First World War onwards and have most models in my collection. (Mind you would not mind a sensibly priced No1 Mk 6 !!! )

Hello all. I've been browsing this site for several months absorbing information and basically I'm looking for non-destructive ways to accurize a 1903A3. Mine is a two groove 1943 dated CMP Greek return. It shoots darn well but I'm always looking for that little extra.

Hi everyone. I'm new here. My son and I have been collecting milsurps for about 2 years now. We have around 50 guns at this point. Most of the common ones, Mosins, Mausers, Lee Enfields, etc. A few uncommon ones like our Rasheed or our Hanyang 88. We've managed to shoot most of them.
I live in the gun unfriendly state of California and my son is in the Air Force in Alaska.
Hi, nice bayonet
Hi Guys,
I am new to this group and need some help. I recently purchased a couple of M1 Carbines and would like to return them to as close to original as possible. Does anyone know a web site that lists most of the metal stamp marks for all/most of the different metal parts for the various M1 Carbines made?
Thanks Guys,
Dan G.

Hello everyone! My name is Chuck and I have 2 Lee Enfields. One is a No. 4, Mk 1* Savage and the other is a No 4, Mk 1 that we inherited. The second one is missing a bolt head so I have found the threads about bolt heads very interesting. I just replaced the broken rear sight and refinished the wood. It had been used as a department store display many years ago and the wood was in terrible shape.
I have a question regarding the "Surplus Enfield Warning" that is in the NRA's 1993 edition of the booklet "British Ehfield Rifles". It states that the barrels should be examined for "severe
craze cracking". I would like to know if this is a real widespread problem or if it has been found on only certain years, etc. or manufacturers. If so, are the Savage rifles also subject to this problem.
Thank you in advance for your help.
I found this site while searching for the original stock finish on a 1945 No. 5 Mk1 Jungle Carbine. (Before the Easy-off stripping, it was very dark and and almost blackish-red under old varnish) Can someone point me to the correct forum please?
just to say Hi, very nice site for us military history people. I restore military stuff for displays and parades for fun and to honor vets
Hello fellow milsurpers. I am a newbie to these forums. I hope to learn as well as to impart any useful info I may have concerning military curios and relics. Hi everybody. I am a new member that collects and shoots old rifles, mostly mausers
Old guy, tommy atkins , has a new toy. I'm looking at my LE I and wondering what the heck? It has a 25+ barrel, no mag cutoff from factory, a bayonet fitting like the long barreled guns, no cleaning rod provision, safety like the No.1 LE. Couldn't properly decipher Skinnington's book to identify it. Anyone know what I have my hot little hands on? In short, long of tooth, short of knowledge, not afraid to ask.
I've been shooting milsurps for some time--Mausers, but just got hooked on SMLEs. I've got two: No.1 1917 and No.4 1945 Longbranch.
I'm not a collector, mainly love to shoot them--but I will keep them original. (need to replace some screws on the No.4.)
I've already learned a lot from this forum--thanks!
Howdy, enjoy US Krags and trapdoors. Thinking about getting a Beaumont Vitali , 71 Mauser or other 11MM bolt gun
Just purchased a 1945 No4 mk1 FTR Sporter and have been actively seeking history on this rifle.I am not a collector but was just looking for a good deal on a gun for deer hunting this year. I am amazed at the wealth of info out there and am realizing I may have got a very good deal indeed.I hope you all can help wrap up my findings. Getting some pictures together and will post a thread.

I am interested in researching early Remington 1903 rifles of which I currently own two. Also an M-1 Garand collector.
Well I feel a bit weird posting here - I just want to send a PM to Badger!
I'm interested in collecting and collectors of all types.
Hello,
Interest in the Springfield 1903 has brought me here. Hoping to absorb as much as I can.

Hi,
I'm researching a specific Inglis p35 MkI* from the standpoint of internal gunsmith punched markings, the gun in question having what seems to be an anomaly from the 'standard production flow'. I'm primarily interested in the internal markings of the components, variations, Shop models, Pattern room, Drill Purpose, Presentation, Sample and Experimental versions.
These seem to be absent of any clearly documented detailed descriptions or even minimally reported distinguishing characteristics, which I have verified.
I know of NO firearms manufacturing operation which ever produced even a minimal number of pieces, which did so without internally created examples used for numerous functions, from production test models, shop and line training to process testing units. To think that those have not filtered out of the stream is in my opinion 'Dreaming in Technicolor'.
I hope to find some knowledgeable opinions as opposed to the all too common 'lunchbox' or '2nd party modifier' knee jerk explanations.
Hello old infantryman loves U.S. Service rifles.
Hi guys, glad I found this sight, I have a sported 1917 Win. 30.06. Just reading up on it.
I,ll post more when Iget my wireless keyboard so I can use my 42" tv to see what I've wrote.
I am new to this site, but don't know why, because I have been a Krag collector for many years. I know 5MADFARMERS and THORIN6. Thorin6 has refered me several times to people on this site that are looking for parts. I live in Noirth Carolina and carry Krag parts for almost any model. I have sold a lot of parts over the years and it now appears that there are less and less people that carry parts, I am getting low on some myself. Since I do not check this thread often, if you want a part, send me an email @ oldewoodsman@bellsouth.net. I also carry Trapdoor parts.
Just joined the forums. My older brother has just inherited what may be a pristine No 6 MkI, and I was trying to find out if it is real. This seemed like the best place to do that.
Hi Folks, 35 year collector especially interested in Pedersens (I have 2 rifles and a carbine all selfloaderPA). Also have many M1s, carbines, Enfields and 1903 Springfields. Love to collect! Mike
I've collected my share of historical rifles. Some by design and many by shear luck, right spot at the right time. Some of my lucky ones are 1886 Trapdoor mint condition, a No. 1 RRB in 50-70 also in mint with all blue and case harden colors. My greatest one is a M40m USMC sniper rifle trophy rifle. This particular rifle is in Peter Senich's book One Round War. This rifle has never been fired since it left the factory and is in it's original case with paperwork from Uncle Sam (DCM). It is for sale at the right price. I may be contacted at CLeising1@comcast.net.
