Looking to buy a WWII German Helmet!
Hi from Toronto,
I am a new member and I look forward to learning from everyone on the website.
I'm a new member looking forward to forum on firearms !!!!THANK YOU.
Is there anywhere in UK where I can send my prismatic compass to be "de-bubbled" as there is no way I can do it myself?
still need one?
I am from South Africa and have in my collection a pristine 1911 Colt in .455 caliber and wish to know more about it.
Hello Everyone. I am RICKGEE and this is my first post. This site has got my attention, and looks like it is going to be fun.
Recently a very good friend of mine passed away. Surprisingly he left me a Krag 30-40, Springfield Armory Model 1898 (S/N 249481):wave:. Beautiful Rifle. I know for a fact this Rifle has been stored in a Safe since 1961. I do not believe it has been fired since that time frame. My friend inherited this Krag from his Father in 1961. The Rifle has been very well kept.
I would like to know when the Rifle was made. Was it a long Rifle or Carbine (presently it's a Carbine). Was it issued for action? Some were issued during WWI. A number were issued to the National Guard during WWI. And, when was this Rifle released to the public?
It would be nice to obtain all the info I can for future generations. Anyone out there know how to seek above info I desire? RickGee
New to the forum, wanted to say hi from Northwest, Pa.
enjoy Tokarev and 8mm Mausers
Just want to say hello from CaptGCA from Crystal River, Florida. I am a newby as of today.
I was just reminded I never made a post in this forum. I must have been busy or something. Not that I get overly busy anymore. Back at the end of April, health concerns and job uncertainty prompted me to retire after 45 years of earning the King's shilling (or the public penny, or whatever we representative government employees earn in its place). I had 20 years of Air Force military service, and 25 years of Air Force civil service, and was looking at staying on, when the VA declared me 100% service disabled, and the Air Force got rid of my position. Could have stayed on - I had seniority and veteran rights - but I found out what I would be doing would essentially be proofreading and editing performance appraisals and medal packages out in one of the squadrons. They offered an incentive payment for early retirements, so I said, "Show me the money" and pulled the pin...
As of this writing, there is one firearm in our house - and that's my wife's 12-gauge. That will change before long. I've paid my money to the BATFE for a C&R license, and have been waiting on tenterhooks for it to come in. Hope it's soon. These darned tenterhooks hurt!
I'll probably become a mousegunner. For someone with my limited mobility and lifting ability, .45-70's and .50-90's and other heavy artillery are probably out of the picture. However, .32 Long and .32 ACP handguns are fairly light, fairly low in recoil, and fairly plentiful. Plus, when you look at an H&R self-loader or a Savage 1907, you realize those are from the days when quality workmanship was taken for granted. I want to "rescue" some of these pawn-shop dust collectors, refresh and restore them, and put them on the firing line again.
So, that's me in a nutshell. Love guns, love reading, love fine work with my hands. Sounds like a deal to me...
Attached a few scurrilous images so you know what you're dealing with. The first one is from my retirement ceremony. That's me in the Air Commando uniform at the bottom, too, firing an AR-15 (Not M-16) at Hurlburt Field many, many, many years ago. The others are just some of my latest creations since my retirement.
Hope you enjoy...
