Would just like to say hello to all the Members as this is my first post yes I am a newbie
Another new guy! I've been using this forum for research for years as it is the best first hand source of info I can find. I joined not too long ago to get rid of the "must be a member to read" messages. I dig anything WW1/WW2 and loving trading rifles.
Most folks call me Easley
US Army combat veteran, disabled. Collect M1 Garand NM and af pg to restore as a hobby and future charitable donations.
new to forum 30 years collecting ww1 ww2 german us and japan military
I found this site, while searching for information on an Italian Model 1938 Carcano folding knife bayonet, which was found in my father's WWII memoribilia chest. I'm glad I did, there seems to be a lot of military info available, and it appears the members are very helpful in assisting other members.
I look forward to more research using this site.
Walt.............
new member I have collected Winchesters for years along with German WWII just starting on US WWII
Always seeking new places for firearms info. never enough knowledge available. Been collecting, on and off, for 40 years.
I want to say hellow to all the members.
I have recently traded for a Remington 1903 manufactured in May 1942, wit a replacement High Standard barrel dated 5 44, with Remington inspection stamps.
The rifle is in very good to excellent condition.
Some of the parts do not have the R stamped on them.
My question is: "Is it worth finding the R stamped parts and replacing them.
The second part of my question is that the finish on the receiver is somewhat rough, not like the majority of the 03 recievers I am formilure with. How Come?
Thanks for your help Guys,
Gary Remington
Good Morning,
I just purchased the a 1943 model 4 mk1/2. The rifle appears to be in very good condition, execpt there is a hole above the trigger, that normally has a metal cross screw.
It has the raised rear sight, but I haven't had time to check all of the markings yet.
Is it true that you must have a matching serial numbered bolt that matches the rifle serial number?
Also, what is the difference between the mk 1 and the mk 1/2?
Thanks, Ted
