Just bought my first carbine and doing research.
I am a new collector of military surplus firearms, especially the Mosin Nagant 91 30s. I have many other guns and enjoy fondling, firing, and restoring pistols and rifles. Living in rural North Texas gives me plenty of opportunity to enjoy all the attributes of firearms. More later. Mosinguy.

Greetings from Italy!
Despite of my nickname (choosen when I was a newbe on another forum) I am here to reach communities of Mosin, Schmidt-Rubin and Lee Enfield rifles fans and collectors.
I think that I will bore you with some stupid questions, tipical of a newbe in the next days!
Thanks for your patience!
Greetings from Italy again.
P.S: Please note that my name is for men, here in Italy...
Hello
I've come across an entire history of a Sailors life. Uniform, calenders, patches, pics on deck, year books(2), Training book from the Keel personal documents while in service and his actual Honorable Discharge.
I,ve been informed that individuals collect this and your website seems the most informed on both ends,Seller and Buyer. If you could advise me where and how I should continue finding a new home for these items I'd be most appreciative.
The sailor served aboard an aircraft carrier NIMITZ in 1979-80 and all the items represent his service at the time.
You may reach me at pickersbest@yahoo.com anytime.
Thank you

Hello all, finally made it
Hello, I'm new to this forum and recently acquired an 1895 Chilean Mauser. The stock has been sporterized and the rest of the original stock bits are not present. The metalmwork is in very good condition although re-blued. The bore is not bright and shiny as could be expected of a rifle over 100 years young. I would like to get the head space checked and a general evaluation done of the complete rifle before taking it to the range. Can anyone here recommend a gunsmith in the southern NH or southern ME area.
Thanks
I am not a Military collector. I am rather eclectic in my collection. I hope to learn a bit about military collecting. Hopefully my knowledge of a bit of everything will be a contribution.

I am a 66 year old pensioner who has been a firearms owner for over 50 years. I am not a collector as such but loves fine weaponry.
I am about to purchase a new AIA rifle and have been looking for a Travel Chest for the L42A1 which will be best suited in my opinion to this rifle although the company selling the rifle said it would not look out of place in the earlier Travel Chest.
Cheers for now,
Jeff Gray

Hi, I'm Josh, been shooting since I was a kid. Don't have my firearms licence yet but I'm pretty sure I've got the early stages of full-blown Enfielditis....
Currently trying to talk Dad into letting me have my grandfather's old 1918 No.1 MkIII, it has a VERY worn barrel (tends to send bullets sideways through whatever you're shooting at, provided you can hit it in the first place lol) but he also has an unused surplus No.1 MkIII heavy barrel tucked away for it somewhere. Has the bayonet and sling to go with it as well.
It would be my first Enfield, but most definitely not my last.
Hello all.
I found this site while searching the 'net for a bayonet question.
Looked like a friendly bunch, so I registered.
I've been a Milsurp fan since I was a kid. Started collecting patches and odds and ends like that. Got into bayonets, then uniforms, then firearms, then........
Well you guys know that story.
Looking forward to interacting and learning from the folks here.

Hi, My name is John. I've been a fan of military arms since my teens. My Father collected guns in my youth, and always took my brother and I out to shoot. The guns that I received from him, as the years went on, included a No.1 Mark V 1922, as well as an Argentine 1909 Mauser. He bought these from Kleins Sporting Goods, for about $12.50 each. I've picked up a couple Ishapore Enfieldswithin the last 12 years, and have found them to be quite accurate and reliable. Those I picked up for $65.00 each. I've been promised a No.5 Mark I Jungle Carbine, by a relative whose Father bought it from my Father. I'm in the process of refurbishing my Mark V, with new stock wood from EFD, and replacement hardware. There's a wealth of information in these forums, and I'm hoping to help, wher I can.
Hey, guys, my name is Chris (online, I go by "2fit") and I'm new to the forum. For those who would like to know, I am a new collector of classic and military firearms and I look forward to the wealth of knowledge that you gentleman (and woman) have to offer. You can never know too much! I also collect vintage ammo, both mil-surp and civilian, so if anybody has anything lying around! :D Thanks, guys!

Hello all! I am Ron from KY. Just another shooter turned prepper.
I am new to this whole thing and never really had much interest in collecting antique firearms. I have owned an AK47 for two years (not that its a collectable or anything) but just recently I received a 1941 Enfield No.2 Mark1 revolver as inheritance. Its this revolver that brought me to your website in search of a firing pin (hammer nose). I look forward to meeting you gentlemen and learning about this cool hobby.
Hi just signed up. I am from Northern Ireland U.K.
 Greetings from California. (Yes, there really are gun enthusiasts in California!)
My surplus weapon collection is expanding. So I’m looking forward to gaining more insight of these at this site. ...Gary

hi guys. looking for mostly early ar15 stuff from the 60s.
I have been shooting for over 40 years and only now do i have the time to do it right. I started rounding out my collection in the past few years and started reloading and casting about a year ago.
I mostly like shooting paper but have taken a couple of nice bucks.
I shoot mostly single shot bolt guns. I have a few that are based on the 1871 Mauser action. I shoot a model 99 my dad brought back from Japan and an 1891 all original Argentine Mauser. I have my mind set on a 6.5 swede for my next accquision
I live in the Hudson Valley of New York and hope to learn a lot here

Just got done taking my Lee Enfield Mod 4 MK 1 apart and cleaning it. Now I have to find time to take it to the range after I check headspace as my bolt is not original to the rifle. I am also a blackpowder shooter. I like the informative people that i have found in the forums as they answered a lot of questions as i went through my rifle. Thanks, Dan

Howdy y'all!
New to the board, lurked awhile, though.
Got my C&R a few months back, but, sad to say, haven't bought the first C&R gun with it yet.
Way back when, I had a couple pass through my hands, wish I'd kept the Remington Rand!
Got my fingers crossed on an '03A3 & an Enfield possibly coming out of pawn in a local shop.
Anyway, looking to utilize the collective wisdom of the site in future acquisitions!
(My husband hates to hear "future acquisitions". I just tell him it could be worse, I could be into shoes, handbags & diamonds!)
Heyy everyone I'm Maggy and I am on here to gain knowledge and maybe some friends with similar interests as me.
Greetings,
Looking for De lisle rifle blueprints.

Hey all. New Canadian member here. I'm far from a collector, but have been working on deciphering the hieroglyphics on my grandfather's LE I inherited several years ago. Only been on the board a day and already have received more info that I know what to do with!
Hello,
As a 15 year old in Dundalk, Ireland, in the early 1960s, I was a member of the reserves (FCA in gaelic), and was the youngest member of the 8th Battalion shooting team (One was supposed to be 17 but we lied about our age). We fired thousands of rounds in practice and competition (hearing is still good despite no hearing protection) from Lee Enfield No. 4s. We used to zero at 100 yards, 4 inches high, and had an armorer to move and change foresights as necessary. (I managed to win the 2nd Brigade individual shoot in 1966, and our team had earlier missed winning the All Army in the Curragh Camp, Kildare, by one point). When I emigrated to the US in 1967 I bought a No. 4 (T), complete with box and matching scope, and a No. 5. I also bought a 1915 Artillery Luger for $300 (and other "toys") but that's another forum! I fired them a few times, then stored them when drafted into the US Army in 1968. I retired in 1992, then worked for the Department of Defense until 2009. Recently my brothers, a few friends, and I returned to private shooting ranges to fire various rifles and pistols, including our military surplus "toys."
Last night I stumbled on this site and was delighted to find a membership with much more knowledge about Lee Enfields than I. Looking forward to exploiting this knowledge base to find out more about my favorite rifles! John D.

Hi all,
New to collecting firearms. Very interested in pistols. Have a C&R FFL and have acquired an Mauser Bolo (Broomhandle), Nagant Revolver and a S&W Pre-Victory. Looking to learn as much as I can, I think it's been dumb luck so far stubling upon some cool weapons.
Thanks,
VSorrentino
Howdy, I'm roza745, I'm brand new and glad I found this forum, I'm a Kansas farmer (67) who happens to love "good firearms", I collect M1 Carbines and Browning "BLR'S ( steel SA only) I need to replace an escutheon on a carbine so, I typed it in on my computor and this was one of the choices, so I started reading some threads and got some excellent tips, maybe these computors are alright after all! Nice to be in good company. roza745
Hi Folks,
I recently reacquired a Lee Enfield P-14 that I purchased at the age of 17 that had been mothballed on the East coast for many years and now is back in my hands.
Recent research has revealed considerable history attached to the P-14 creating an increased interest and with your site and knowledgeable membership could prove very enriching.
I look forward to the dialogue and discussion with the membership and review of your website in further expanding my level of knowledge of the P-14
The Afghanistan mention is due to my role as contract pilot serving ISAF operations.
Hello
Hi,
I sent an initial post about three days ago, but I keep getting "It appears you have never posted on the Military Surplus Collectors Froums." What gives?
John D.
Hi everybody,
I' m new to this forum. Recently aquired an Inland 12-1942. Not totally original, but a nice shooter !
I'm from Holland, so far far away, but they got M1's overhere too !
I'll have to find out where to post pictures and specs and how to do it, so see you around.
Hi, I'm a new member of this forum, and have been collecting for about eight years.
Hello everyone, I'm a new member, former lurker. I belonged to the old BRen forum but I guess it's gone. At least I can't find it.
I own a Historic Arms MkII semi-auto which started life as a $99 kit. With Len's expertise, this became a very nice shooter as well as a real attention getter at the range. I enjoy the history of the BRen and can't believe the workmanship that went into making this gun. I have nothing but admiration for the troops who carrier and used this gun to save the world.
Hello.
Lots of great info on this site, thank you for that. Thought I should be a member, I've been researching firearms for a family friend. He has considered letting them find a new home, is the classified on here the way to go, or does everybody look at gunbroker and those web sites? He spent a life collecting, interesting stuff I've seen so far is a remington p14 that works and one that was deactivated (plug welded in barrel, marked DP) Thanks again for the info. 5milebridge
Good Morning everybody.
I'm brand new to surplus rifles.
Leverguns are what I know and use, but I just now purchased a 1903-A3.
A guy next to me at my range had one, and it didn't take but a couple of shots and 30 minutes of conversation for me to want one.
Luck of luck, another guy there that day had one for sale.
I have a picture of my grandfather carrying an original 1903 in France in World War One.

I recently purchased an M-1 carbine that is marked "Underwood" on the receiver and "Rock-Ola" on the barrel. My original assumption -- based on the serial number 613800 -- is that it is an Underwood that used a barrel from Rock-Ola. There is a stamp on the stock -- just ink; not an imprint as with a cartouche; that is the crossed cannons of the Springfield Armory. Can anyone tell me what this all adds up to? Thanks in advance.
This is my first post as a new member of this forum.:)
Firstly, a big thanks to its originator(s) and caretakers.
As my User Name suggests, I interested in using the O3 as a platform for building a Pseudo Scout Rifle.
I also know that to many of you even talking about doing so is blasphemy. Doing so would sacrilege.
I would not be touching any part of the O3's heart; its receiver. I will not be trashing any wood or metal. I hope to find a 03 Springfield that has already been sporterized and start from there. Or, of not that, on to James River Armory.
Dave
Got the carbine bug back in 1992 when I bought an Irwin Pedersen for $600 at a local gun store. That is what they were going for then. Since then I've added high and low serial numbers of all the contractors plus a registered M2 and a T3 with sniperscope. Its a disease that is impossible to cure. If I had to choose between Kim Kardaschian or a carbine, I would be in big trouble.
Hello out there!
I am very , very new to all of this. I have had in my possession for past number of years (from the passing of my Father-N-Law) a Lee Enfield No. 4 MKI* 1943 Lang Branch that I know very little about and for the first time fired it last week end (after how had someone who new what they were doing look it over). Boy was it fun!
I would like to get it back to as close to original condition as possible (missing sling, oiler, maybe rear slide sight) and need help to find a good source for this. All help is appreciated.
Thanks for reading and look forward to future posts.

Hello,
I just got here. I live in Southeastern Virginia.
Hello all. I currently have a few rifles, a Mosin- Nagant 91/30, an Enfield No. 4 Mk.1, and an RC K98. I have just started a 1903a3 project with a barreled receiver from James Armory and I just want to say thanks because this site has been a big help in learning about the rifle and parts. Keep up the great work!
Welcome to milsurps.com com guys! This is a great place to learn and help others learn. We are very pleased to see all of you as new members. :super:

Hello everyone,
Here is a brief introduction of myself. I am a toolmaker by trade (Now in 3D mold design)
After arriving in B.C. from South Africa in 1976, I was immediately drawn to the outdoors here and the opportunity to spend a lot of quality time hunting and fishing. I did my CORE course in 1977 and hunted somewhat unsuccessfully for 3 years after that and building 2 hunting rifles ( 1 around a K98 Mauser action and 1 using a Falling Block Works action). Following this I took up fishing and have been busy with that until recently. I am now back hunting after completing another hunting rifle using a Mauser action chambered in 7 x 57 Mauser. I love building rifles as it gives me a sense of achievement.
Cheers.
HEY Y'ALL,
I HAVE BEEN BUILDING GUNS NOW FOR ABOUT 6yrs. I HAVE BUILT 190A3 SPRINGFIELD FROM A SPORTERIZED VERSION,BUT I STILL NEED A REAR SIGHT.
ALSO WORKING ON A MOSIN NANGANT 91/30,TURN IT INTO A SPORTER MODEL.
BUILT A COUPLE OTHERS,BUT WON'T GO INTO THEM RIGHT NOW.
ANYWAYS WANTED TO SAY HEY Y'ALL!!
PUMPKINBILL72
P.S. STILL LOOKING FOR A 1903A3 REAR SIGHT,THO. THANKS
I was born in '47. In 1960 Dad, through NRA/CMP, bought a '03-A3, a unfired Remington Rand 1911 A1, and a mid 40's Lend Lease Mossburg 42 (a) that made it back across the pond. He sold the other guns, but I still have the Mossburg; it started me shooting. In 2011 I got a Stag Arms Model 8 AR-15, both 5.56 NATO and .22 LR, my first centerfire rifle. In 2012 I picked up a Winchester 250 .22 lever gun and a 1943 Argentine 7X57 Mauser sporterized. Presently I'm awaiting a CMP Springfield Garrand M1. I'm gonna reload all these.
My first ??? What slip on recoil reducer do you recommend for the M1 and the Mauser? Just one of many ??? that I know you people will help me with.
Shooting is fun...and I like fun!

I'm just about to collect an Arisaka Type 38 carbine and need some load Advice. I can find loads for Hodgdon powders, but I have a shelf full of Vhit powders and no Data for 6.5 Jananese. Anyone out there got any loads for Vhit in this calibre? Ta

New member here. twh731 on the forum. I have been a recreational shooter for over 40 years a reloader for over 30 years and started collecting milsurp for the past 7 years. I find it interesting that the battle rifles of yesterday are extremely capable arms for multi-use. The precision of mass produced equipment in times of diminishing natural resources was an accomplishment of phenominal proportions. Some of them may look archaic and ugly but their utilitarian purpose was acheived nontheless. I really enjoy shooting them and haven't found the need to modify what I have except for a good cleaning and trigger polish. I'm not much of a forum poster, more of a lurker, seeking specific information that I need at the time. Sorry if I don't contribute much but want you all to know that I appreciate the more informed people who do, as it is very easy to get yourself into trouble sometimes with projects that turn out to be more involved than intended. Thanks for these forums. Tom

Just a note to introduce myself.
Have been shooting and collecting for 45 years and turned my gun hobby 32 years ago into a small business. Went to gunsmith school in 1980 and have been fixing guns ever since.
At this stage in my life I need to sell off a lot of my excess stuff.

Hi. I'm new here in this forum. My favorites are the US Carbine cal..30M1 and the U.S. Pistol, Caliber .45 Model of 1911 A1.
Hello all, I'm Josef from the US. My wife, Tiffiny, and I are avid gun enthusiasts and are always looking to meet new friends/contacts in the shooting world. While looking to prune our collection, I began inspecting one of the bolt action .30-06 rifles. I had to remove the scope mount to read the markings and determined it to be a M1917 Eddystone [May 1918 manufacture] and it has been sporterized. [I'll start a thread once I have pictures to post] It was one of my late father-in-law's rifles that hasnt moved since 2006. A quick search on the web led me here and i quickly joined because of the mass of good information.
Hello all, Being an old GI who fondly remembers things like the M1 Garand, M3 Sub-machine gun and especially the 1911A1 Colt, and not so fondly spending the night on the ground covered by snow in Germany, I am looking forward to reading about what some of you know about the arms of our US Military.
New old guy signing in. Ex Ohio Nation Guard E-6, Garand shooter, A303 shooter, M4carbine shooter. Typical gun nut.

Hi Folks,
I "discovered" your site a couple of days ago and have had an interesting lurk. Really enjoyed a bunch of the threads. I particularly am fascinated with the "screening room" section.
I've been into milsurp rifles since the '80s. My interests primarily fall between the 1870s and WW2. Mostly European long arms.
